I was young but alive when this movie was in theaters. I remember the times back then. I know it sound funny, but it wasn't racist. It was righteous. I am sorry people lost so much in the last 20 years in terms of social understanding and sense of self pride. We used to party hard together and cared more for each other. It's sort of neat how the renegade police captain asks, at 4:03, about how many persons the helicopter will hold. That same actor plays Capt. Rhodes in Day of the Dead and tries to make off, at the point of a gun, in the helicopter in that film. It seems almost like a foreshadowing, but it's highly improbable that Romero planned in this way.
