Left wing activists sipping red wine??? Hmmm... Why not Chardonnay or Cafe Latte, they are equally popular beverage put-downs frequently used to dismiss anyone the Right doesn't like.
@medusazoe You don't have to be on the right to criticise those who just talk as though they're on the left but in terms of action don't stand for anything at all.
Fanfuckingtastic as an Aussie would say. I thought poetry was dead and I hate rap. I am a stuffy old 64 Eng lit and Eng teacher to whom TS Eliot and Dylan Thomas were the Gods fo my youth. This gives me hope that poetry is alibe well and relevant
there are some things that are about opinion, and there are some things that are fact, whether you like the dilivery or not, every word he speaks in this is true, anyone who says otherwise is the definition of what is wrong with society. totally awesome, from a punk fan, keep it up, educate, educate, educate
@jtsmith437 um you do realise this is slam poetry? it's not rapping, its poetry that is spoken in a beat or in a musical kind of way. He's not a 'wannabe rapper', and he's actually REALLY good, I saw a performance of his from a few years ago and it was amazing, I can't remember what it was called though..
Err, left-wing activists, that is the socialist left, far from advocating reform argue for the "complete overthrow of all existing social conditions" (Marx). Left-wing activists have always supported the indigenous struggle.
Other than that, this spoken-word piece is excellent.
@jumpnjza2 It doesn't work like that, you can't pick and choose. This is wordplay, visuals and mood designed to communicate what one person has been observed in their world. Your semantic argument is ridiculous and completely misses the point. Perhaps he's seen someone who self-defined as 'left-wing activist' behave that way, perhaps it's just aptly names poetic license. Either way it's an observation not a claim to truth so unless you've seen the same things he has you have no right to disagree
@jumpnjza2 Ha! Yeah, fair enough.…though technically (semantically) speaking any argument expressed in words is going to be semantic since that just means relating to meaning or language.
You can call me out for semantics if I'm criticising the 'form' of his actual words while agreeing with the 'content'. I'm disagreeing with content, not form.
@jumpnjza2 You just don't stop do you… With respect, all your issues stem from taking far too narrow a reading of particular terms. Firstly, as I have reminded you already semantics means relating to meaning or language. I used the term initially and I used it to indicate a definitional understanding as contrasted with the multithread free associative understanding this work deserves.
My only point - his criticism of left-wing activists is unwarranted (everything else was lovely no doubt). No need for some post-modernist masturbation-fest about the meaning of semantics.
@jumpnjza2 Yeah but like I said, reform just means change. Look it up for yourself. So your first line of argument quoting Marx didn't make any sense.
@findingmiddlegrey what? no, are you?! blubbering fucking vagina? you couldn't come up with a better insult than that? have you actually heard a vagina 'blubber'? what the fuck IS a 'blubbering vagina'? I have one and I have never heard or seen it 'blubber'. please, enlighten me....
@jumpnjza2 Secondly, "left wing activists… spoke of reform" is the part you take issue with since in your mind left wing activists speak of complete overthrow rather than reform. Once again your understanding of the word 'reform' is too narrow and in fact incorrect. 'Overthrowing existing social conditions' can still be termed reform.

What a joke. Your just another wannabe rapper trying to be contentious, while trying to flog some mainstream clothing in the process.
