  • 64bit dosent always equate to 64 bit graphics.

does the intellivisions 16 bit processor deliver much more that an atari 2600, does it come anywhere near the 8 bit cpu and 16bit gpu of the turbo graphx.

atari was too far ahead of the game, everyone was just starting to move from 16 bit, they jumped a whole development cycle in the industry.

no games developer had much expertise beyond 16bit, never mind a complicated 64bit multi processor monster, with little poor developer support from atari.

  • Have this on Genesis. It's one of those so bad it's funny games. Dominique is kind of hot though.

  • The original Double Dragon on NES had better 1 vs 1 than this.

  • I made a homebrew game and atari jaguar pulls of 64bit graphics I assure you.

  • The Atari Jaguar: A beast under the hood, but some of the worst software in the history of gaming. So you have a beastly, expensive system with amateur developers producing some of the most laughably bad games ever. A recipe for failure.

  • Wow this game really sucks, i mean its REALLY bad. I was thinking about buying an Atari Jag off of ebay but now i think ill just masturbate with a metal scourer instead, might serve as better entertainment.

  • Double Dragon cartoon, Toei's Spider-Man, and the 1987 TMNT cartoon all have a few things in common: they are all loosely based on the earliest ones in their franchises, had their own vehicles and extra stuff for selling toys and merchandise, and were made to be like "LOL, LET'S ROCK AND HAVE SOME FUN!"

  • This was a bad game on every system it was on (SNES /Genesis/Jag) so don't blame the hardware and put it where it belongs...on the dev team.

  • Except this port was WORSE than the 16 bit efforts. Compare both and the only thing thats better is the slight sprite scaling on the char sel screen.

    64 bits alright.

  • Yea I agree the devs cocked up and did a shit job here the lazy fucks.

  • Sooooooo....... this was 64-bit graphics????

  • DO THE MATH!

  • @dogeymon83 this was a 16 bit port.

What do you expect 64 bit graphics to be then?

    n64 is 64 bit graphics.

So is Half Life 2 and Far Cry if you have a 64bit pc and OS.

Doesn't mean an n64 (64bit) and a modern pc (64bit) have the same graphics does it clearly you know so little about computer hardware that you arent qualified to make that comment

  • @ bobbystar101 - stop your babbling! You know perfectly well they used the 64-bit slogan to imply the best graphics. You know very well kids developed an idea what each category of "bit" was supposed to look like. We can only have judged from that perspective that was created for us.

I'm aware of technicalities that somehow make the Jaguar 64-bit. But you're deliberately missing the point, and I think on purpose just to be irritating. THE GRAPHICS AREN'T IMPRESSIVE!! THAT'S IT!!

  • Exactly. bobbystar is a troll who probably was a Jaguar mark back in the day and is now bitter that his system sucked so much. Jaguar's graphics didn't look any better than SNES and this game right here is a prime example of how much the Jaguar sucked.

  • Really?

Even cybermorph class graphics were impossible on a snes game with fx2 chip or a 32x!

And cybermorph was for a planned 32bit atari system the panther and hurriedly ported when the 32bit was cancelled.

Rayman on snes? LOL dont think so :-|

    Alien vs Predator?

    Iron soldier?

    Nope.

Im not particularly a fan on the jaguar im more of a ST/Falcon fanboy but reading what you people have written its just so retardedly wrong it just pisses me off.

  • All those games look horrible the only game on the Jag that actually looked really good was Rayman. Everything else sucked. I'm embarrassed for you for trying to defend Jaguar's graphics.

  • IF they looked horrible on the jag then games like vortex (which I loved) and starfox on the snes were just plain damn ugly.

  • Star Fox looked a lot better than a lot of games on the Jaguar. Besides, SNES was a 16-bit system while Atari claimed the Jag was 64-bit. I would EXPECT Jag's graphics to blow the SNES graphics away, but they didn't.

Atari even ran commercials implying that it's "64-bit" Jag was more powerful than the 32-bit systems, the PSX & Saturn; when in reality both of those system were way more powerful.

  • @jtlbb2 See also "X" and "Days of Thunder" for Game Boy, and the Star Glider series for home computers.

  • @MHMemeDoubleYourFun: what about them?

  • @jtlbb2 They were all created by Dylan Cuthbert, who also created the Super FX chip. But before all of this, there were Atari's Battlezone and I Robot arcades.

  • @jtlbb2 Well jag was a 64-Bit system it was processing using two 32 bit chips. The problem was it was a 2D system and low polygon system.

  • @mp4podcastDOTcom: For the most part, Jag sucked at 2D games too. The only game on the Jag that looks worthy of being called 64-bit was Rayman. But take this game here for example, if you didn't know this was a Jag game and someone instead told you it was a SNES, would you be surprised? Would you think, "wow that a great looking SNES game!" ? I don't know about you, but I'd think it just looked like an average SNES game.

  • so which is double dragon 4?

  • I think Double Dragon 4 was called "Super Double Dragon" for the SNES.

  • No no no THIS ISNT DD! This is a lame attempt to cash in on a popular genre!

  • doesn't look any better than genesis.

oh by the way, where did you learn to fly?

  • Oh snap. Haha

WHERE DID YOU LEARN TO FLY?

Sadly enough I played this on the Jag before the AVGN lampooned it, and it was just as annoying as he portrayed.

To be fair the Jag version of this is the best version of this game--but, it's a fucking shitty game no matter what console it's on.

  • wow that game had a crossdresser!!! how bizarre.....

  • Thanks for making the vid but this game is AWFUL.

  • i think jaguar only had about 2 good games and this isnt 1 of them

  • Tempest 2000 and Alien Vs Predator.

  • Jaguar also had a pretty classy version of Cannon Fodder, didn't it?

  • Yes! Cannon Fodder and Syndicate were awesome on the Jaguar!

  • Is this an actual Jaguar game?!

No wonder Atari never made it!

  • The Dreamcast was 128 bit it was like the PS2 , XBoxand Gamecube there dude .

  • PS2 64 bit dude... it has processors to make it more powerful... and consoles after the 64 bit days never said bits anymore

  • The PS2 ,.Nintendo Gamecube, Dreamcast and the regular XBox are 128 bits processors dude .

  • wanna bet? and seriously other then dream cast nobody said anything about bits anymore "CPU 64-bit[3][4] "Emotion Engine" clocked at 294.912 MHz (launch), 299 MHz (newer models)" - wikipedia - 64 bit with enhancements to make it stronger then 64 and able to be like a 128 bit

    learn a little about electronics

  • # Sony's Playstation 2 CPU Emotion Engine is advertised as a 128 bit processor. It has 128-bit SIMD registers, like many processors, but is only a 64-bit processor in the traditional sense as it can only use 64-bit memory addresses. Most high-end CPUs today have 64-bit memory address; there are only very few true 128-bit supercomputer chips[clarification needed][citation needed].

    another thing from wikipedia

  • Comment removed

  • Bits did not exist after the Dreamcast.

  • May have been a little before that. I don't remember any dreamcast advertisements raving about bits. Only the articles in game magazines talked about the dreamcast bits.

  • What? I have the Genesis version of this game, and the Genesis version has more fighters, like my favorite, Trigger Happy. The Jaguar version sucks. I think the Genesis version is much better.

  • The music sounds like a real bad, pissy porn flick from 82 featuring whatever the "legend" was back then. Just all wrong.

  • This game hauled so many jars of donkey piss...man seriously this game fucking sucks. I still have that shit too. I bought it and to this day sometime still doesn't feel right about that childhood decision.

  • What's with the sound?

  • What have they done to Double Dragon?! O_o'

  • Are the characters actually punching each others' skin off? What the hell?

  • Funny thing with this version is that it features even less characters than the Mega Drive and SNES versions, and it doesn't have the Quest Mode either.

  • Dam, why won't anyone understand for the last dam time, that the Atari Jaguar IS 64-bit? It's just that the games that came out on it didn't use the full advantage and power of the Jaguar's hardware...

  • They're usually too young and/or stupid to understand. If the Jag wasn't 64-bit,Atari would've had their asses sued for false advertising. If we thought like these other dummies,we'd say stupid things like"Intellivision wasn't 16-bit because Nintendo and Sega Master System had better graphics."

  • People mostly see bit = Grafical advantage and that is at some points true. Jaguar = 32 bit in my opinion becouse you can clearly see even the best games on that console were similiar to PSX & SAT. Just compare Mario 64 or Zelda OOT with the Jaguar Games. Even if the jaguar games didn`t had full advatage of the system i would say Mario 64 & Zelda Probably didn`t had that aswell. Jaguar had in my eyes used over 80%-90% of their capacity.

  • And yeah they lied becouse Jaguar had 2x 32 bit but that doesn`t automatically make it 64 bit the same with what sega did when dreamcast came out claiming 128 bit thou it was 64 bit.

  • Dreamcast have only 64Bit?

Have you ever played a Dreamcast?

  • I own a Dreamcast and have Played many Games and that console rocks but unfortunatly alot of people were dissapointed with sega becouse of the earlier Console [Saturn] and the almost useless Add-ons [Sega cd+32x] and therefor the console couldn`T compete with the other ones which came 1 year later if i remember right [PS2,GC] becouse everyone feared Dreamcast could be another Saturn and becouse of Shenmue [Good Game thou]. Sega did many mistakes but yeah Dreamcast is a 64 bit console.

  • No the Dreamcast is a 128 bit console despite your rambling.

  • @Cyrus7500 no its 128

  • HAHAHA. If those facts were out back then, those alone would have put that shit in the house of fail forever

  • its not 2x 32bit its got 32 16 and 64 bit registers.

Dreamcast is classed as 128 bit same as ps2 because it has a 128bit fpu..

  • I must say, although many of the games licked hard nut, some of them did muster enough guts to at least FEEL 64bit. Checkered Flag, for example, which I happen to still own, yet refuse to play.

  • Double Dragon V was a shitty game on every system it came out on.The Genesis version was the most shitty.

  • Wow, Atari Jaguar sucks! It is nothing like Double Dragon V on SEGA!

  • @Sardcor u couldnt afford a jaguar back in the day then?

  • We didn't have Jaguars on the market where I lived being a kid. Come to think of it, we didn't have SNES either. Those who could afford consoles were in possession of NES and later on Sega Genesis.

  • i just love how everyone seems to love searching for jaguar games and going "zOMG MY SNES WOZ BETTR. THE JAGWAH ISNT EVEN 64BIT!!"

everyone knows most of the games were rushed, and on low budgets. Atari was a desperate company going broke. Everyone knows about Tom and Jerry, and the 68000, and the 64bit address bus and registers.

  • Man, the SNES version looks better than this.

  • the jag was a load of shite

  • this cant be a double dragon game!!!

  • Oh! Sweet heavens! I'm blind.

  • shit...

  • jesus that look so bad

  • I was one of the QA guys on this. Boy did it suck to work on the Jaguar!

  • 64-bit huh? Doesn't look any more impressive than an SNES game.

  • Yeah this game didn't look the part but games like Alien Vs Predator did. It was the first 64 bit system but most developers only used the Motorola 68000 chip, lazy.

  • AVP on Jaguar didn't look 64-bit to me either. The only game on Jaguar that looked really good to me on Jaguar was Rayman.

  • Trust me after playing games like Zero Tolerance on the Genesis and Wolfenstein 3D on the SNES, AvP looked great and moved so smooth. It was big leap for FPS games on a console. Rayman debuted on the Jag as well.

  • @jtlbb2 *thumbs down* what do you expect to see 64 different bits on the screen all numbered?

    LOL look 64bit what bull.

  • You must be one of the retards who bought this POS system. If the system claims to be 64-bit would it be too much to ask that the games look better than SNES games?! I don't think so. I know you can't help but be retarded but I don't see why it is too much to ask for this supposed 64-bit system to produce games that look better than SNES games.

  • Well the games do look a *lot* better than snes games so what ur on about dumbshit

  • It does not, are you blind? You're probably in so much denial that this system sucked that you can't even see the suckage that is right in front of your face.

  • Out of all the Jag games I owned, this is one I never got... and for a good reason. I feel sorry for anyone who paid $69.99 at Venture for this game when it was initially released.

  • crap...

  • This is why the Jaguar flopped. People tried something like this instead of, say, Ultra Vortek, and thought that all the games must be as bad as this. Poor, poor Jaguar - hardly anyone loves ya!

  • Ultra Vortek sucked too.

  • Whatever....

  • No again, it was a good game. You probaly never heard of it until this post.

  • sweet merciful crap that game sucked. Whats strange is the Jag shoulda' been able to at least do something on par with the NeoGeo version...this crap is sub-SNES

  • That game's a crappy Street Fighter II rip-off if you ask me. Btw, Shaq Fu still seems to hold the title of "worst retro fighting game ever" without a doubt, not even Kazaam would make that game look good.

  • Awful...

  • yeah who cares, this was shit compared to the side scrolling DD grames.

  • It's sad to say that the arcade version of Double Dragon III sucks ass.

  • Only if you don't know how to play it.

  • Its too bad youtubes video format downgrades the video cause I can't see much of the graphic difference between this and the snes version.

  • The sound is only skipping if I record the video with fraps.

    Sorry for that :(

  • you have to sync your games in order for it not to lag and make that wierd skipping sound
