  • I forgot how good this game looked, better than a lot of wii games.

  • I love that when he meets Janos the "Janos Retreat" music from SR 2 plays :D

  • Raziel the surgeon

  • @xwere146 Watch the intro to Soul Reaver 1. :)

  • We need more of Raziel... SOUL REAVER 3? Anyone?

  • Love the game. HATE the camera.

  • Did you upload this yourself or download it from somewhere?

  • @RavenHawks13 Recorded them with Fraps from the PC version of the game.

  • yur murders are long dead lol wasnt raziel one of the people that murdered him lol.

  • Best game ever ♥

  • It's so awesome, that there is the music from SR2, from his retreat.

  • i dont understand so in blood omen 2 does kane have the black heart? or does janos?

  • @carnesaur Seemingly paradoxically, they both do.

  • @Joudas false my friend, in blood omen 2 Janous is dead !!! remember that the heart of janous was taken in soul reaver 2, when Raziel meets his former self, that was many many many many many years agoooo ! like 500, and when Kain was revive into a vampire, "they" (don't remeber who, long ago) implanted the heart of Janous within him..clear ??

  • @yurikatos Um... the whole central story point in Blood Omen 2 is that Janos was raised (at the end of Defiance, with the Heart, by Raziel) and possessed by the Hylden Lord as the 'incorruptable vessel' that could sufficiently power The Device. Janos is very much alive in Blood Omen 2. Defiance (when Janos was raised by Raziel) happens after SR2 (when Sarafan Raziel took the Heart) - his resurrection happens shortly before the destruction of the pillars (End of BO1 on the timeline).

  • @yurikatos You seem to be forgetting a key point - the heart was used to raise Kain, but Raziel tore it from Kain's chest (in Defiance) and used it to raise Janos.

  • @Joudas Dude, remember there are two Kains around by the end of Defiance. The old one doesn't have the Heart of Darkness (he brought from the future) anymore. Janos, at this point, is being raised with this oldest version of his heart; while the young Kain has recently been raised from death with the Heart of Darkness the Sarafan took from Janos 500 years earlier. They are both using two versions of the same artifact, each belonging to different points of history. And so happens in Blood Omen 2.

  • @NessDark that's it my friend, this is true, and what I meant to say XD thanks

  • @yurikatos

    -facepalm-

  • @CessiCB sorry I'm from Perú, is that good or bad ?? if good, thanks, if bad, well facepalm to you too XD

  • @yurikatos "Facepalm" = "Poner la palma de la mano sobre la cara en señal de incredulidad". Dude! You are the one saying that Janos is dead in BO2! which he is not.

  • @NessDark yes you're right, "the incorruptible vessel", i forgot the hylden escaped with his body, well, it's like he is dead to me =P.... but he was revived with the heart of thousand years beyond, the one used by kain, it is his heart but at the same time it is not... well the issue was about someone saying that is mistake from the game developer wich is not the case, is a paradox created on purpose...and so.....thanks for the explanation of "facepalm"

  • @yurikatos Its not even a paradox, it's just a time travelling heart. Just the way there are two Kains in the world as the same time.

  • @yurikatos He was given the heart by Mortanius, when he was assassinated, and reborn as a vampire. Janos was still dead by that time, and the heart Raziel had given back to him was Millenniums older, as it was taken from future Kain. Doesn't seem to be too much of a paradox.

  • @afterlifeavenger In reality is a paradox that there's to people, ore things in two places at the same time, it's just definition, and if you face each other the time could be destroy..that's way is a paradox..on porpuse but a paradox...but some people says that this was a mistake from Eidos..sort of those things, that they didn¡t think of that..read from the begining....and don't give the crap from the movie "the one" with jet li, they're from diferent dimensión, they are not the same person

  • @yurikatos I understand that, but in SR2, Raziel kills himself as a Sarafan priest. That should tell you something. Anything they do would be part of the actual timeline. They were meant to mess with certain events, and not others. That's why you don't see Kain facing himself. That paradox is moot in the series.

  • @yurikatos And also, if it were to occur, time would twist and turn to fit the events that had occurred. Raziel is a prime example of that.

  • @afterlifeavenger yes I agree with you, in LOK it's valid...like I said, my previous comments were to the people who thinks that it is a mistake and they didn't notice that it was meant to be like this

  • @Joudas also remember they go back in time at the beginning of soul reaver 2, and they never returned =)

  • @yurikatos They do return, actually. In Defiance, Raziel's story takes place 500 years after this (around the time of Blood Omen 1) as he languished in the Spectral Realm for that period, and Kain, about 2/3 of the way through the game, follows the Elder God's instructions and re-joins Raziel in that time. Defiance ends just after Blood Omen 1 ends, if you look at the whole series on a timeline. 2 'levels' before the end of the game, we see the outcome of Kain's choice at the end of BO1.

  • @Joudas yeah, that's right...but you said to @carnesaur "paradoxically, they both do" in fact, that''s why a discuss, I think @carnesaur doesn't remember or desn't know that after soul reaver, thousands years later of blood omen 2, they went back in time, if that so of what you said, you just should tell that in Soul Reaver 2, both kain and Janos have the "same" heart, the fact is one is from the very future and the other one is in the present in soul reaver 2

  • @carnesaur

I think the LoK fan community pretty much regards Blood Omen 2's story as a big mistake.

  • @lavaking No sir, it is not, in fact most of us disagree about Defiance's Kain seems to be weaker than blood Omen 2's Kain (in powers, but in appearance the Defiance's one looks like a badass ^_^) in blood omen 2 you more power to use. that's all

  • Comment removed

  • Little known fact, the soul reaver also acts as a bleach. Voila, Janos' shirt is cleaned.

  • @delta51 Billy Mays would have sold that on TV if he could " Bill Mays here with the power of the SOUL REAVER! "

  • The ancient vampires appearance never changed from when they became vampires. I assume the humans who became vampires eventually evolve and will probably end up looking like the ancients if they manage to live long enough to get there.

  • @Mortainius88 It's explained as being the corruption Kain bares as a result of Nupraptor's insanity. When he creates vampire spawn, the curse transfers to them, manifesting in different ways as they evolve. The ancient vampires didn't have the corruption, so they didn't 'evolve' so horridly.

  • @Joudas Well the ancients didn't seem to evolve at all. Janos looks the same thousands of years after becoming a vampire. Vorador however wasn't corrupted at all and gradually took on more traits that make him more like the ancients through evolution. Kain while corrupted until Raziel heals him, never devolves like his children did. I think if given enough time non-corrupted vampires would probably grow to resemble the ancients more and more.

  • I'll say... I guess this (3:04) was a "thunder shock" for Janos. It is that time, when he realise that Raziel could be that creature painted on walls of Vampire Citadel? Being with"flaming eyes and a firery sword". "Redeemer and destroyer"

  • What you need to resurect a vampire?

    - all elements of his corpses gathered;

    - some drops of blood poured on his body;

    - essence of the Soul Reaver;

    - and probably most required part: an awesome underground chamber with many, many candles inside. Simple? Simple. Let's do such a thing :D

  • fuck that is easy to use that heart ... as noted surgeon who is not raziel jajajajajaja

  • is it just me or when the music of janos starts and the middle does anyone feel sad and janos is so beautiful and angelic

  • raziel got a fright at 1:28, didn't he?

also it must have taken ages to lit all those candles

  • lol my name is janos

  • when i walk up to janos body it doesnt jump to the cut-scene. Any help?

  • You have to press the action key.

  • u have to use the "action" key. this will trigger the cutscene

  • i still cannot belive that raziel killed kai...even do he didnt actualy kill him the reaver that kain has should be stronger than raziels soul reaver

  • No Kain's isnt stronger, how'd you work that one out? By the way am i the only one that notices that Raziels wings are growing back? they get longer every game.

  • @DisturbiaWolf13 not only you noticed the wings of raziel :D

  • yea, i noticed that too. but i think for defiance, they kindof redesigned him for some reason

  • no.. since the reaver kain has is just the blood reaving vampiric blade

  • Just so you all know kain is not decaying or mutated he is evolved

for god sake his head looks like a crown going round is godly white hair

He still has a perfect form just a different colour (green) who said yellow?

your just not used to seeing things out of the ordinary and reconising them for what they are

  • Kain is devolved. The ancient vampires had blue skin covering their three cloven claws on their hands and feet while Kain's clawed hands and feet are merely bone. He is 'evolving' in a sense to resemble the ancient vampires, but because he's basically a walking human corpse converted into a vampire (and with a corrupt soul thanks to Nupraptor), it reflects in his dark god/demonic appearance.

He does look godly, but a dark one because of the circumstances sorrounding his conversion.

  • I love this game

  • this game will still look beautiful ten years from now

  • you are so right. Fantastic storyline also.

  • It's just you. Mortanius and the Elder God are the only two major characters done by the same voice actor.

  • Janos is voiced by Rene Auberjonois, Raziel is voiced by Micheal Bell, and Kain is voiced by Simon Templeman. :)

  • heart surgery done the easy way

    1:07

  • janos' right hand is moving on it's own

  • thx for the Video's joudas

  • Has anyone ever wondered why Raziels muscles are blue?

  • Vampires are essentially blue-toned. As least the ancients. As they deviate from the original bloodline, they seem to go from blue to green (vorador) to tanned (kain) to white (raziel's brethren). However, underneath it all, Raziel still holds some sort of influence from their inner-anatomical appearance.

  • Thank you for the answer.

  • really? i tought it was because he was a wraith

(i havent played any of these games in about 7 years

  • Next, why didn't Kain become insanly disgusting like Raziel's brothers?

  • Because when Kain raised those vampires, the Pillars were corrupted, like everything in Nosgoth ... their evolution would show that corruption.

  • kain used his own soul to raise the raziel and his brothers, however i thought about kain hasn't evolved any longer after raziel's exeution. A) because he cannot evolve any longer or he did but not physically, B) he traveled in time from raziel's execution to his return C) and less likely he didn't evolved at all but his sons did and he never executed them as he did with raziel when he evolved before him

  • It's the same reason that blood relatives should not reproduce - the bloodline thins out. Remember too that Kain was not born a vampire, or even turned into one in life - he was turned by Mortanius after he was murdered. It may have something to do with his specific form of rebirth, as well.

  • kain did become disgusting. But i guess he had more control over himself or something. He is the scion of balance after all

  • Kain is more of a decaying, jaundiced yellow. I think a bit of Raziel's color had to do with the way in which he died.

  • Lol. I like the part after Janos says "redeemer and destroyer" and Raziel just glares back like "Oh how absolutely enlighted you have made me. WTF are talking about!?"

  • I can't find the way to Janos, I'm trapped in the house, can you tell me the way I need to go?

  • Janos should create a few more...

a female vorador would be cool...

  • vorador is not dead

  • but it seems moebius, elder god and vorador knew of raziel's dual purpose - redeemer and destroyer.

at the beginning of SR2, moebius greets raziel as 'redeemer and destroyer, pawn and messiah', impliying he knows of raziel's dual character.

also, elder god's dialog in the spirit forge indicates he also knew of this.

finally and most surprisingly, when raziel meets vorador in defiance for first time, vorador says 'it seems you've chosen your path'. did he also know of raziel's duality?

  • there is no confusion. the forges perhaps were created long before janos was born. the earliest ancients knew that only one man would be both the redeemer and destroyer, and the forges were indeed created for the spectral blade.

but as janos said, he misread the signs, he thought that the vampire saviour could only brandish the material reaver. only after seeing raziel with his spectral blade, he became clear that indeed raziel is both the 'redeemer and destroyer'.

  • Couldn't Janos just make a ton more vampires?

  • As Vorador said in Blood Omen 2: "It takes time and energy to make a Vampire"

  • Another question is brought to my consideration... Janos seemed pretty astonished when seeing the spectral Reaver Raziel wields, making a yet cryptic reference to the Dark Prophecy (of which we might yet have a better understanding if the game of the same name is actually released as intended)

Is is that Janos did not know that the Reaver could have a spectral form? or is it that he was just confused as for the true nature of Raziel's role? If he was not supposed to wield such weapon...

  • Why then, there are forges to imbue the reaver with elemental powers? Were those forges originally created for the material blade? It does not seem probable. The ancients created those forges... so they HAD to know there was going to be a blade they could be used with. If Janos ignored the existence of a Spectral Reaver, then that might be a crack in the plot... D.R.

  • u know what i noticed i just beat sr2 and the unlocked art showed the guardians of the reaver elemental forges and what they looked like alive. They look hylden they dont have wings and the girls have green hair so maybe vampirs dint know about the spirit reaver

  • What the...?? Is that so??? I have to replay that game again! Thanks for this new piece to the puzzle, man. D.R.

  • How terrible to wake upp five hundred years after your own death and learn that your bloodline is all dead. And that the world you fought for in life is gone.

  • @Lilja20 And that the philosophized hero you thought of is actually a champion of both your race and the race of your nemisis?

  • janos is far enough away from them the candles burn but they are not close to him

    they surround him...

  • you do play as kain more actually

and it's called legacy of kain because raziel it is all revolving around kain and raziel is meant to continue his legacy

  • one xtra level with kain? what level? tell me

  • Not an extra level per se, just 1 more Kain level then there are Raziel levels.

  • Here's my question: Why do they call it: Legacy of Kain: Defiance" If you play as Raziel most of the time? You barely ever play as Kain.

  • "Legacy of Kain" is simply the name of the series. Even the Soul Reaver games, in which you didn't play as Kain at all, were still "Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver".

  • And actually, to be fair, you play as Kain more - it alternates, starting with Kain, going to Raziel in the next level, and back again, et cetera - but it starts with Kain and ends with Kain, therefore there's 1 extra Kain level.

  • You got me there. But the thing is, Raziel's levels are longer and more complex than Kain's. So it just feels like you play as Raziel more than Kain.

  • Also notice how in every LoK game, exept maybe the last one, it is Kain who makes the most important move at the end.

  • one of the best games i ever played :D

  • I'm surprised Janos' wings don't accidentally catch fire from the candles around him.... Seems like the prophecy is going a little differently than Janos read of it.

  • ive only played blood omen 1 and SR. they story has becojme to complicated for my taste.

  • did kane die???????

  • No. But Raziel thinks he did.

  • first Mobious said redemer and destroyer and now Janos does is that kind of like a deja vu?

  • no

    a prophecy

  • Raziel din`t want realize the profecy of the vampires.

  • He's voiced by Rene Aberjenois. The same guy who was Odo on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

    That is concentrated awesome.

  • isn't it a paradox,Raziel ripped Janos heart, now he returns it,great i love this act of a working piece of mind, working over the plot, oooh i dont find words to express myself, just great!

  • yeah but i wish they would explain vory's revival

  • kinda makes you wonder what raz. would look like doesnt it?

  • Hot damn, Janos is more handsome than I could've imagined. That is one magnificent body he's got there. :P If only poor Raziel couldn't reached that stage of incredible beauty. lol.

  • I have to agree with you. He's down right gorgeous. :) Probably sounds silly seeing as he's just a computeranimated character. :p

And he also resembles Amanda Evert in Tomb Raider Legend in the face. Anyone else think so?

  • Janos is buff as hell in this trilogy.

  • Raziel'll kill him later in the game...

  • Actually, he won't...

  • Raz has already killed him.

In Soul Reaver 2, human Raz took Janos' heart.

After it is restored in 'Defiance' Janos becomes the beast of the device in BO2 (hence the scarring and what Kain says when you first meet the beast) then he gets cast into the Hylden realm. What happens to him after that is anyones guess

  • he's alive, he's alive...

  • In the beginning, everytime I run down that path, the game camera is NEVER behind me, it is always faceing the front of me.

My game has ALOT of glitches. :(

  • you can use the soul reaver when you played throughthe game. a painting of kain is hanging in lara's mansion and raziel's symbol and kain's crest are available on clothing

  • like what hints tell us?

  • there were several hints in crystal's last game (tomb raider legend) that there would be another LoK.

  • i miss these guys ... will there ever be a new release?

  • Raziel is cool he is my favorite character

  • Hey SpideyFan4 I can e-mail u this music (Janos Audron's retreat theme), just send me a private message with ure e-mail address in it and i'll get back to u as soon as possible!! :)

  • IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!

  • this when janos talks to raziel which is in sl2 at light reaver stage

  • how i can get this song

  • I wonder where the hell he's been keeping the heart all this time... He just kinda reaches off-screen and there it is. The guy doesn't have a pocket to save his life.

  • See, /these/ are the sort of questions people really ought to be asking Amy Hennig ;)

  • Raziel is awesome. He the best character, so is Kain

  • who, vampires such as vorador?

the staff renders them immobile, just like how janos was murdered
