  • Many people these day will use some sea crabs too.

  • They are many kind of Som Tum and use different kind of crabs too.

    The one they use in this video is black rice crab("ปูนาดำ" in Thai), which mostly will be cure with fish sauce before use to make this Som Tum.

  • @PartTimeRonin -thanks, I forgot to mention that these crabs had been marinated in fish sauce before using. The neighbor keeps these crabs in her refrigerator, in a jar of fish sauce -just for som tum, which they make nearly every day.
