I'm a 47 year old midwestern American. Well...April Wine Canadian or not i don't really care & never even knew back in the day. Me and my bro most often rocked to the non-mainstream Rock, far apart from the lamo rock at the time(bruce springstein & all that crap) April Wine, I thought, really rocked & the pivital rock song for me of all time is "I Like to Rock" and is by far one of my most memorable & favorite songs of ALL TIME. Bar None!!!
Hey Buzz - sorry to be the one to tell you, but Rush was out before April Wine! Don't get me wrong, I think April Wine is GREAT, even seen them in concert in the late 70's. They do like to rock!!!
ya, everyone talks bout Rush or Triumph as the best Canadian rock band, but April Wine did it first and imho did it better. ALL of it. They ran the gamut from ballads to blues n jazz to hard rock, progressive rock n metal and they did it all so well! I still dunno where I got this video n frankly dont even remember posting it but Im glad April Wine has let me keep it up (so far). And Im glad its so popular, its really an awesome song :D
i like the loop shirt the guitarist is wearing....when they use to play awesome songs like this, now it's the classic rock station.....we already have one of those in chicago.
i believe Canada has its new Metal Queen!>>watch>>"Sarasvati - Crystalline"........this chick is no wannabe, she got the right stuff! im thoroughly impressed!
i'm an american, but i have to say, most great bands haven't orignated from here (besides nirvana and STP and incubus and whatnot) and most people don't give canadian bands enough credit. this song fucking rocks.
man back in the day it was so hard for canadian rock bands to get any type of good record deal so it took fucking genius' to come out of canada e.g. Rush, April Wine, Max Webster among others haha fucking insane rock n roll. Even though ive grown to other music outlets i can always hang my hat on classic rock at the end of the day best music bar none....i am a child of the computer age and fake music but still I LIKE TO ROCK!!
@blueridger28 yeah man i thought the same man it's a famous studio in quebec up in the mountins, many famouse bands recorded atleast one album there man like the police and a shit load of other great musicians
@XxMusclecarsxX Are you on glue?Seriously Canadian band's fuck'n Rock.."I seen April Wine on Canada Day 2011"and to say not like today? Were the fuck you been for the past 30 year's?In a hole?Where in the world do you live,on a island somewhere?I'm not even gonna waste my time with you.EDUCATE!
@milkboner666 LOL UJELLY? I said this was back in the days when canada was making good music, nowadays it just sucks. idk maybe u like nickelback....btw im canadian
@XxMusclecarsxX I'm not only laughing at you,I'm surprised your Canadian just as I'm surprised there's not over 500,000 view's on this band's video and their riff..You sound like my son who's also a anti-Nickelback kid.So with that being said,Read what I said:Educate yourself about our new band's and you'll see there's more Canadian talent out there these day's.You were just Daddy's little squirt when this came out so you need to start from the letter A as you did,now go on to the letter B.
@XxMusclecarsxX I get offended when someone put's down Canadian's and Our musician's we have and had.You hear these band's on the radio and you don't hear the any other music by other Canadian band's.I listen to new band's from Canada every day and and the older band's that are still making great album's in 2011.I agree Nickelback,Justin Beaver.lol, ect are not very talented but you'll hear some new shit if you listen to more band's,U-tube is full of them..didn't mean to come on hard man..
@XxMusclecarsxX So you do hear some other band's but not on the radio.I don't usually don't get pissed but when it come's to Canada I'll defend everything about this country, and that include's our band's.The Sheepdog's are just 1 band of many that they don't get airplay... just like Metallica back in the early 80's.I know their from San Francisco but you know what I mean,no airplay,no one hear's great music.Peace man.
The title says it all. Saw them live in Tucson, with Loverboy, think it was '81. It didn't get any better than that. Hot times. Hot times are comin' back too~!
This is just great! Canada puts out the ROCK! Rush! Aldo Nova! Triumph to name a few..
There is a band you probably never heard of... Minglewood..... When i was a young teenager musician/rush fan I went on vacation to Prince Edward Island, to visit relatives with my family. Being a rush head I thought it was great to visit their country and experience all things Canadian/Rush.. Well my cousin made me listen to and buy a Minglewood Album they were the Lynyrd Skynyrd of Nova Scotia
I saw them at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, TN back in the eighties. They were FANTASTIC! During this song, everyone left the stage while the drummer played a major ass-kicking solo. One at a time they came on stage and joined in. I remember it like it was yesterday. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
See here in Canada every single was probably a top 10 hit. And they had, I'm guessing at least 30 - and we thought they were just as popular in America. And I'm just starting to realize maybe they had 3 hits in America at best. That blows my mind. That's like someone hearing in America that Bruce Springsteen or the Eagles anyone with a lot hits were not popular anywheres else. But even worse. Because it's perceived if you didn't make it America you didn't make it. And it's kind of true.
@heyman29323 Let me quote (Keith Moon?) from "The Isle Of Wight Festival" "There are people in countries that don't even know who Eric Clapton is, and they still fuck".
Not exactly what you were getting at, but still.. there are places where people don't know who Clapton is and that blows my fucking mind!
@ericou812 Quite frankly, all the Jonas Brothers of the 80's are all long gone and forgotten, just like the actual Jonas Brothers will be by 2015 at the latest.
@ericou812 Well..I don't know if you lived during the early 80s but this band jammed...sign of the gypsy queen, this song...and just between you and me...well...we liked em..
@ericou812 I agree....April Wine was the calling card for girls back then...so we just kinda went with it. Throw 'em a bone. But April Wine really had nothing there and even worse - nothing up their sleeve. Mediocre hard rock at best.

Had a ton of hits, if they were from Detroit or LA they would be right up there with the Beatles. What a shame the band had it just could not break out to big markets in US.
