  • @ezekieloak Ipad more intech though

  • Ipad

  • 3:13 ...But why would anybody want a smaller package?

  • eInk FTW

    2 week + battery life

  • Is there some sort of way of having to kind of displays on the ipad so that when you watch films, you have the LCD display and when you're reading there's an E ink display? Is that technologically possible? If it is then the iPad is going to beat the kindle by a mile!

  • @pp2devane

No, it requires a completely different screen. Google eInk to see how it works.

  • 17:00 DID THAT GUY JUST DOUBLE CLICK ON AN IPAD!!???

  • Do Pencil vs Motor Oil next time

  • How are these similar again?

  • I like watching how people are vulnerable to Apple's marketing shit. How can't you understand - Kindle is a computer too! And yes, it's capable of almost EVERYTHING iPad is except 4 things: color, flash, GPS and accelerometer. Most of the things you can do online (thanks to free roaming 3G connection ipad doesn't have). And yes, you can jailbreak it too and get shell access. Stop being morons and realize the truth. Just like it was said: kindle is a bargain, ipad is a ripoff.

  • Kindle 3 pwnz ipad and other noobdevices.

  • i'll also add that you can now get the original kindle for only $79 at walmart.

  • at 3:23 he sais pony up for the ipad best line there

  • ipad rules!!!!!!!!

  • come on he didn't even go into detail about the i pads reader its so easy to use defiantly the best unless u want to be cheap

  • i want to have either of these two! :)

  • Its actually 9.3 not 10 inch screen.

  • The last thing you'd do with an iPad is reading.

  • cant believe 3g is free that is weird

  • kindle 3g special offers version is now only $140 on amazon, $50 less than without special offers. the special offers are advertisements from amazon that are unobtrusive, only displaying on the home screen. the 3g is free worldwide, and the kindle does have a rudimentary browser, so you can check your email on vacation anywhere for free. how awesome is that?

I have both kindle and ipad, and it's like they say:

if you are a heavy novel reader only, kindle is for you.

  • black and white is boring!!!!!

    +1 for the I.pad

  • @VirtouseGirl What and books aren't in black and white?

  • why they didn't compare kindle with notebook lol ....

kiindle for reading while ipad for something else ..... +1 for kindle

  • Ipads color capability? Idiot... -.-

  • Love this review very civilized and straight to the point. If your just into reading I will recommend the kindle which is $114.00 now but if you wanna check yuh email n other stuff well the ipad 1/2 not sure bout other tablets.

  • I have both devices now. They're both absolutely amazing.

  • The iPad guys only defense is "cool" "cool" "cool" lol

  • I'm a student and I'm on a budget I need a convenient way of reading when I am on public transportation and away from sockets and I dont want to carry 3-4 books in my backpack. $189 vs. $499? HA! I'm going for the Kindle....WHY PAY MORE PEOPLE! I do have an iPhone its cool. But wen it comes to reading I'll go with Kindle plus enough with all this technology, its always good 2 have hard-copies. what if electricity runs out on rainy day. You can always grab a book from your bookshelf. Traditional!

  • @MobHeataEnt Well, if it suits YOU... Who's stopping you?

  • Yes. Let's compare a library to a computer. Brilliant idea.

  • These guys just sold me on the Kindle. If I want a computer I'll use my fucking computer. I need a reader.

  • @ezekieloak me toooooooooo :D kindle rocks

  • the ipad is so silly. Kindle is for reading. Also, browsing internet is better on a laptop/computer than on a stupid touchscreen tablet. The only use I'd give the ipad would be the fact you can show your illustrations or pictures on it.

  • e ink not just "a bit" easier to read than LCD.. it is MUCH easier to read

  • This video is racist. Where was the Token black guy?

  • Fight!! Fight!! Fight!! :D

  • This comparison is pretty stupid, its like comparing a book with a laptop.

  • sold on kindle becuz of e-ink. My eyes strain all the time with these backlit screens.

  • e-ink technology ,batery life time, readibility in sunlight, and not distracted by email or games. -kindle- e reader

  • ipad is hard to read the sun just put the god dam backlight up

  • Great review! Both devices are very well presented giving us a very clear comparison of the two products and their different purposes.. The Kindle rocks for reading.

  • Great review! Both devices are very well presented giving us a very clear comparison of the two products and there different purposes.. The Kindle rocks for reading.

  • they should have done ipad vs galaxy tab. it's more equal

  • Even if you've got the extra money to burn, if you want a device to read books on, you aren't going to beat an e-ink screen.

  • The iPad is just a downgrade of a laptop. Only a retard would buy an iPad. The Kindle is much better for your eyes. I hope all you iFags go blind and die poor from wasting your money.

  • The iPad is far better than that we shitty kindle thing !

  • compare kindle dx to ipad they have almost the same screen size

  • Pointless comparison. Kindle is only for reading. Like comparing a kitchen knife and a Swiss army knife with all its added functions. For e-books, Kindle is the best. For everything else, iPad no doubt.

Would expect a bit of a better comparison from you guys.

  • nook color ftw

  • The kindle is only better than the ipad when it comes to reading.

  • you guys are boring, please stop posting video's

  • JUST CLEAN THE FACKING SCREEN

  • The Amazon Kindle is not a competitor with the Apple Ipad. I can read books on my laptop, does that make it an ebook competitor? NO. This is FAIL.

  • @shipleyshipster True, but also reading a real paper back book is way better than a device.

  • Amazon ftw. I hate when apple fags say that apple has the best things.

  • @briancollazo46 Until Amazon makes a computer, I'm not convinced.

  • How can you stand the black screen flash at EVERY turn of the page on an e-ink reader

  • You know how the "i" in ipad, ipod, itunes, iphone etc came about don't you.

Steve Jobs was thinking how he could make a ton of money off people who had more money than sense. He mused "iwant to be very very rich, iwant another two Ferraris this year, iwant more of everything. Jeeze ihope people don't figure this out before they buy the goods. Got it. I'll call it the "me" range. Nah doesn't sound lifestyle enough. I'll call it the "i" range."

  • what about the fact that Kindle store has WAY more books than Ibooks.

Agree with fixingbraincell: apples to oranges!

  • @gmed2 And then you have, the Kindle app for the iPad, didn't you watch the video? (:

  • Under accessibility, set the Ipad to Black on White. No more brightness problem, as the majority of the pixels are now dark, and you quickly get used to the inversion. Eye strain solved.

  • an ebook reader (kindle) versus the ipad, a do-it-all touchscreen. Yeah, next time compare a wired landline phone, to an iphone or blackberry. or better yet, an electric powered bicycle, to a 500cc motorbike. Cause, they've kind of got some similarities, but not really, just like this, quite pointless review.

  • The eye-strain thing hasn't been really properly adressed. I have been reading ebooks on my notebook for a long time, an switching to a e-ink display was like a gift from the heavens. Just the tought of returning to reading ebooks on an LCD screen makes me sick. It's THAT big a difference, when it comes to make your eyes feel comfortable while reading.

  • I love how they sound so fake. And they are having a discussion while looking away from each other.

Plus iPad and Kindle are way too different to be precisely compared. One is for reading, the other one is for increasing your imaginable e-penis for a short time.

Also, grown up people saying "This rock, this is pretty lame" in a monotone voice like that is just hilarious.

  • For reading books, it's all about the content (of the books). The way you read it shouldn't get in the way of the content. I'm a fan of Apple products, but for reading, the Kindle wins because you simply enjoy the book.

  • These iPad Vs.Kindle disputes are hilarious to me. They are not even close to the same thing. The iPad is a machine that can read e books, the Kindle ONLY does Ebooks...boring

  • The problem I have with the Ipad is the same one I had with the Kindle when it came out in 2007. I would love, love, LOVE to own one, but I can't justify paying $400 for what is basically a toy, a diversion.

Now that the Kindle 3 is $139, I rushed over to Amazon to get one (it comes soon). When the Ipad (or tablet competitor) comes out with a 3G tablet for $149, I'll be all over it.

  • wowow... those are totally different species of devices youre comparing

  • iapd for people who pretend to read.

  • why would you compare kindle to ipad. kindle is great for reading. and ipad is great as a netbook replacement. it does little for eyestrain.

  • The guy on the left is an idiot its soo obvious ipad is miles better. There aint no colour in the kindle for a start

  • the iPad sucks at reading. the kindle is awesome

  • why he "doble click" the ibook app?? .. with one click its enough.. what a fail!

  • Ipad sucks..... it's more like money generating machines

  • I love how the book he pulls up is Ender's Game

  • @Watchdawg exaclly

  • yeah, maybe the comparison in whole does not work, but i'd only use the ipad for reading books, and it's pretty good to see, that i have not to pay that much for that service.

They should show more about the PDF Reader, Image stuff and the search function.

A Pad like these gets pretty useful, if you have to carry a lot of reference books with you, what can grow quiet heavy.

So thanks a lot for that comparison.

  • the guy on the left looks pissed of lol

  • Why would I buy books when I can borrow them from the local library?

  • @Watchdawg You just sais exactly what i was thinking all this time about .this ipad. lol. well done.

any way im a student and its great to have tons of Publications/Papers to check out without having the bag full of bended papers, stained with coffe. (better have youre ipad stained with coffe? hmm)

it works..but its a litle useless..ore kinda fancy/lacy to have one of these if you just whant to read a book. ( no body read more than 4 books at the same time! and u can carry 4 books easily.

  • @jorgeamayas 4 books easily ? try to carry just one 1300 pages c++ book and tell me how convenient it is

  • just buy a computer its way better

  • @dannyleeg I bought a helicopter instead of a car to travel around the city... if that's what you mean.. and yea it's way better.

  • cmon guys its really clear that none of these can come no where close to what you can do with a pc/laptop . and if u like the touch feature get a touch screen laptop and dont waste your money on fancy 3G and all that (Just my opinion) btw have you noticed the ipad can get more expensive than a descent pc and all these arent upgradable.

  • the latest model of Kindle only costs USD139, that is a very aggressive pricing. So make the deal, if you like reading books in the train or on the bed, go for Kindle. If you like to have an entertainment kit, go for iPad.

  • I'm sick of all these comparisons by apple fanboys.

The kindle is much cheaper, it's only for reading and it has a much larger library of books. What good is having the Ipad when it hardly has any books to read?

  • i like ipad WAY better

  • i like the ipad better

  • can you set the kindle to turn pages automatically after a pre-set length of time?

do you have to touch the screen to turn pages in the IPad, like the guy does in the video?

  • @santonegra yes its all touch except for the home button

  • That was fun to watch lol :]

  • The Kindle is gonna destroy the IPAD as an ebook reader because the kindle can drop their prices as low as they want because they get all their money off of the books they read because there is no production fee for downloading a book. As a result they could make their money purely off of downloading books. I bet the price of the kindle will get lower and lower.

  • Enders game lol

  • I have an iPad, i'm very happy with it. I don't think both device compete with each other, the Kindle is very portable, simple, and a great way to carry your books everywhere without worrying too much of battery problems or connectivity issues. The iPad is, on the other hand, like a swiss knife: it can do lots of things besides being an e-reader.

Personally, i've never been able to exhaust the ipad's battery in a single day. That means that i just plug it in at night and use it all next day.

  • @DrNemmo I agree all the way. The kindle, as you mention is a great product to carry around i actually think that is awesome!, but today we do so so much more than carry around books. We are so in to search, communicating, multimedia that the kindle is just not suited for todays needs. The interesting thing is that is still not a bad product depending on how you look at it and if you actually tried one before. Is just not near as good enough for most of us.

  • lol page turning on the kindle is sooo lame boooooooooo

  • Apples vs Oranges

  • Good review, but it should have at least mentioned the larger Kindle DX, (comparable screen size and price), with the iPad.

And does everyone - even non Apple employees - need to show the Winnie the Pooh book when demo-ing the iBooks app on the iPad? Must EVERYONE drink the koolaid?? :]

  • iPad sucks, I mean apps are cool right BULLSHIT how the hell are we supposed to get apps if that dumb thing doesn't even have an usb hole

  • @simpsoncheat yeah, do your research. you can download books and apps wherever you are wirelessly. and it does have a USB PORT via the dock connector port and can even connect it to your TV.

  • @simpsoncheat WIFI.

  • @simpsoncheat you get apps through the app store, why the hell would you need a usb for that

  • USAiTunesGiftCards . COM Says it all !

  • completely useless ipad, a kindle is more practical for what it does, the ipad tries to be a netbook and is an epic fail at that.

  • @yeomanrycavalry it's not a netbook and is not intended to be one - it can do everything - "netbooks" can't read books or access e-mail and millions of other applications not even including games and the accelerometer... comparing the ipad with a netbook is not worth a comparison

it's an epic fail that you consider it a netbook

  • Good review. For readers the choice is easy as the Kindle is the best eReader in the market. For people who want a multi-media device the iPad is an amazing experience and is the choice for them. I fall in the first camp. I don't want a do-it-all device because I know that compromises will have to be made - such as those pointed out in the review - that will degrade the reading experience too much.

When I'm reading I want the book to disappear, whether it's a physical paper book or an eReader.

  • Most people, I believe, would be more interested in what so-and-so commented on than finishing the book. iPad isn't really a reading device, it's just marketed that way so it can capture that niche of the market. The two aren't really comparable.

  • Who is going to want to read a page of a book when he or she has the whole web at his/her finger tips? It would be hard resist, especially considering one would be getting notifications from facebook in the middle of a compelling chapter of The Great Gatsby.

  • nice video, true is you can buy USA iTunes gift cards at this store iTunesgiftScards at COM, they are legit iTunes Gift card store, they deliver to me by email, and Fast, my advise to you :)

    - iTunesGiftSCards?com

  • ipad=Get a laptop

we sold ours on Ebay and got a HP laptop.

  • Excellent review. I coveted the Kindle for years while waiting for the price to drop below $300. I love that you can control font size with the Kindle, but the lack of backlighting is something I wasn't too happy about. Although the I-pad is more than an 3-book reader, Apple has once again priced itself outrageously, which opens the door for a lower priced Windows knockoff to come along and steal their lunch.

  • kindle sucks

  • this is one of the best vids on ipad vs kindle

  • I can not believe that guy is favoring the kindle over the ipad, we should not be comparing the kindle with the iPad. The kindle was designed to be a one trick pony. The iPad was designed to a media beast. Comparing the two is unfair to the kindle. I can not believe consumer report did this crap

  • this guy an idiot...he should be comparing the bigger 10" kindle which is close to $500

  • they are comparing apples to oranges

  • @fixingbraincell Agreed! There is no comparison. If they want to compare they need to compare the Kindle to the Nook.

  • The iPad weighs about a pound and a half. Is this really worse than carrying around a thick hardcover?

  • if you have already got an iphone go for the kindle imo

this has changed my mind about the kindle

  • The dude on the left is MAD lol

  • WOW! you guys are really bad actors! I laughed threw the hole video! This is so scripted! HAHA! XD

  • Very balanced review imho.

  • why are they comparing the kindle 2?

  • lol. fingerprints. just clean it. XD

  • @StewMM Or better, dont use it.

  • You people HELLO!!! THE KINDLE IS FOR READING, thats all. Ipad and Kindle are TOTALLY different.

  • "If you're looking for an eBook reader..." chill out dude, they are focusing on 1 feature here.

  • @schildty12345 I don't agree. I am currently debating which one I want because I want something to read with, and I would love the iPad, but I am on a tight budget.

  • @schildty12345 ...And yet as soon as I started deciding which one to buy, I compared the two for features and price... These guys are tuned in to my curiosity... You are simply a critic.

  • @schildty12345 What do you mean, YOU PEOPLE...

  • two different products.

    kindle is for reading

    ipad is for junk

  • awesome comparison!

  • The comparing video so far.

All other reviews care more about iPad "feelers" than it's readability.

  • Great video. thanks for the advice.

  • I'm still happy with my kindle and am just not a fanboy...so I'll keep my kindle and my virtue.
