  • what the heck are they doing??

  • lol

  • Mmmmh a day sailer...

  • Bad title . the boat was no where near sunk. Not even close!

  • m sorprende la solidaridad de los demas culeros gallinas lancheros gabachos k nomas se kedan viendo y no van a socorrerlos! k valor del gabacho... k valor! cobardes de mierda!

  • I love these kids what determination and they never gave up especially the black kid

in the blue jacket. He jumped right in and started bailing . This is a film for motivation . Don not quit and never give up you never know who is watching learning and cheering you on!!!!!

  • at 0:26 there are two swimmers passing by not even noticing there's a problem :)

  • What on sea is going on here. A boat of this type should not be able to capsize like that . Why does it not have ballast ?

  • go sea scouts!

  • who the fuck would practice capsizing a boat that size?

  • I was talking to a hobie sailor who would capsize next to boats of pretty women. I am gonna jump on that opportunity next time it presents itself

  • that would suck soooo badly ;p

  • well they capsized it on purpose.

  • Fin Keel = buckets. Most fin keels have flotation. With the small amount of ballast and flat bottoms they sail fast and can even surf the waves, but stability is a factor. They handled this great. Nice team effort especially getting the sails down and working together to right the boat. That is a lot of bailing, but note the person manning the bilge pump (water shooting out of side) This is a great video.

  • I take my hat off to them; didn't think they would get it back up.

  • ill remember to take 14 10litre buckets next time i sail

  • Good recovery.

  • Looks like everyone was on the leeward rail

  • Wow, I wonder why they had so many buckets on the boat in the first place. It seems to me that this was not the first ti

me that this has happened to this boat;.

  • wow those guys are warriors:)

  • That aint a whale boat....it's a FAIL boat!!!

  • haha suck shit

  • if you don't capsize your not sailing hard enough.

  • the National Park Service is trying to run this teen boating program out of Aquatic Park where they have used whaleboats for 63 years

  • The sound of the water is copyright. LOLZ

  • Capsize drills like that are fun, especially in front of a crowd like that

  • Vote up for Moloko soundtrack.

  • Great work!

  • haha...good job getting the boat back

  • i saw this from the shore and the cheering from the crowd when they righted the boat was louder than the applause for the blue angels!

  • agreed, its pretty cool to see from the shore.

  • Thats an awsome video. Its cool seing it from a shore perspective.

  • Our Sea Scout program has three other whaleboats, numerous conventional small sailing craft (Cal 20s), and an historic Monterey (powered). We are open to youth ages 14 on up, both boys and girls. We have both a boys program (Corsair Ship #22) and a girl's program (Viking Ship #100) -- but we run both together almost all of the time. Google "Sea Scout Ships Corsair and Viking", it will bring you to our website! We are at the Sea Scout Base most Saturdays, drop in at the foot of Nan Ness Ave!

  • This is the SSS Corsair, part of the SF Sea Scouts. This was done as a routine capsize drill, to train our crew and keep them ready in the event of an emergency. We intended to do the drill as a fun exhibition, but the thousands of onlookers all called emergency services at the same time, so we can no longer do this on Fleet Week. This is a 30' wooden whaleboat from the original Navy sailing fleet, and has been in the program since the 1930's

  • Perfect song for the video. And very true about e1p12007's comment. Good job bouys and gulls!

  • thats a good job, i wonder how long ot actually took, it takes 3 people about 6 or 7 minutes to bail a capsized thistle

  • Would do that again and again, put 1000kg on the keel

  • excellent practice

  • The adage is true: There is no better bilge pump than a panicked sailor with a bucket!

  • LOL!

  • This appears to be one of the Sailing Whale Boats that the Sea Scouts operate in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Sea Scouts is a branch of the Boys Scouts of America(BSA). They started out on their own in 1922 and joined the BSA after WWII. It is designed for kids age 14 to 21.

What a great thing it is to still see kids involved with this instead of being at home playing video games.

  • why the fuck would people capsize a big wooden keel boat on purpose?? i ve capsized a keel boat but not on purpose and it was a 21ft racing boat and blowin a big gale and we had full sail up. no.1 jib and full main.

  • Just because a sailboat's capsized doesn't mean it's going to sink. It definitely looked like they were capsizing it on purpose for practice. Also, it would have been really nice to actually see them right it.

  • That was a bloody big boat to have to right from a capsize. Well done to those kids!

  • they know what theyre doing

  • what kind of boat is that?

  • nice job bailing. did you take sails down while capsized?

  • Great job guys. A day they won't forget soon.

  • at least they were not crybabies... calling the coast guard.. thay stayed with the boat and got it back

  • they're trying to right it, theres charlie fucking chump sitting on the mast

    lol

  • all hail the bucket brigade!

  • Good team work for a bunch of teens. Nice to see them doing something as a team and get back in the game without help. Rock on guys. Impressive.

  • If it wasn't a test, luckly it didnt sink lol
