They are so in touch with different textures, maybe he just loves the feel of the carpet after you vacuum?? he he but it def is cute, better than screaming from the noise!! :) adorable boy!
I wonder if either he's mimicking the vacuum cleaner, or if he gets the sensation of the static electricity in the carpet which may be stronger right after vacuuming. He's adorable, btw :) Best wishes!
Has he always done this? My autistic daughter started doing something like that around the 2-year mark. I ought to post a video of it soon if I ever find the time.
we think my two year old son has autism, multiple speech therapists say he probably has either autism or SPD but we need him evaluated by an OT...the one morning fit video you did, my son does that sometimes too
My son is 4 years old and autistic and he does this all the time. Its so weird sometimes to see other autistic kids doing the samething your child does. But it lets me know Im not alone.

I have Asperger’s, and like others here, I used to do that as well. There’s this very light static-y feeling on the carpet after it gets vacuumed, or the illusion of a static-y feeling because of its new, clean fluffiness. It feels really good rubbing your hair, face, arms along it, like a gentle massage. :)
My little one who doesn't have a diagnosis yet, but we suspect autism, just started doing this a few months ago. I had already seen your video so I found it very funny.
He is 3 and a half and still in pullups. He only rubs on the carpet like that right after I vacuum haha. Most of his sensory issues are in his mouth...which you can see from the Luca spitting video (;
Most likely the nice feeling of the carpet. I am a high functioning autistic as well and I used to do that. I still do with my hands occasionally. :) I can't explain what it feels like except its really nice and makes me happy.
I think I know why he does this. I'm a high-functioning autistic, but I used to do the same thing when I was little. For me, doing this felt good on my skin and head. It's soothing or something. I liked the feeling of pushing my head on the carpet like that. Maybe he does too. Just a little insight from another autistic.

Vacuuming fluffs up the carpet fibers. It's softer and fuzzier than normal.

I also did this as a kid having autism, and now even occasionally. Very nice feeling on the hands as well! It kind of reminds me of a cat.

What Luca does is the same thing my son does, I had to watch about 10 videos before I found his, and it similar to what my son does!

Clean floor maybe? Wonder if it's because he knows it's cleaner than before you started and *has* to feel it
