Fuck it i have a Orange AD-15, try and find them, it was built 9-11-01, 15 watts of roar thru my 2-12 purple bottom with well worn vintage -30-s, sounds like 50 watts hard, i get bitched at, if you find one, better snag it, 2 el84 power, 2 12ax7 pre, and a Gz-34 rectifier, British made, its loaded with a 16 ohm v-30, but kick it with a cab the woman tone kills, no fucking lie!

it is a b to b tuned guitar with a longer scale length so it works with dropped tunings without putting real thick guage strings on your guitar. feels better and sounds tighter when drop tuned

Our band uses a lot of clean, overdriven and heavy sounds, and we don't play metal. =) Yeah, idk, i think it was in combination of a crappy cab and active pickups, but the way this video makes it sound was not how it sounded in person... I just remember our guitar player plugging into the AD30 combo, around the same price, and it sounded SICK.

@intothevoids Actually none really use them at all. Most use Sunn Model Ts, Orange Rockerverbs, Orange AD180s on rare occasions, Laney heads, Matamps, Hitwatt, older Marshalls and Sound City amps. Eyehategod use solid state Ampeg SS heads. I don't really think many use the Thunderverb in fact, not even for bass, they just use the standard Orange bass heads, Ampegs, Sunn or maybe a custom head.

What blows my mind is that I have a Blackstar HT-5 combo amp. The thing has 5 watts, and I NEVER turn the volume to 10 - way too loud for practice at home.

To the people who think that double watts equal double volume, that is not the case - the speaker size, number of speakers, and power efficiency play a key part in volume. It takes about x10 watt value to hear twice the volume, so compared to my measly 5 watt amp, this Orange is only twice as loud :)

I use one of these in Giant Squid, drive 2 cabs, each loaded with 2x12 and 1x15. That's where 200w comes in handy, driving a lot of speakers, especially big speakers like the 15s. I almost always play with a 7 string baritone hollow body. The amp is a pure fucking beast.

Same goes to just 30 watts. I can hardly get the volume on my Orange AD 30-HTC up more than 3 steps. Even with regular earplugs there's no way your ears will make it when the amp is cranked.

I like the markIV more than the triple rec...the rec sound too much new metal for me and its very loose and flubby sounding if you use anything else than active pickups...you have to crank it very very loud to get a good tone out of it....while orange and engl sound great at low volume and way greater the louder they get.

I find the Orange AD 30-HTC the best for stoner rock/metal actually! It handles fuzz pedals the best in my opinion. Not sure about the Thunderverb. That must be good for EVERYTHING, shit. Don't get me wrong, my bro owns a Rockerverb 100. I still for some reason prefer mine! Haha!
