  • I never new you could create a defensive wave of explosions to guard against a nuclear missile strike. Thank you missile command!

  • interesting that the UFO's have the AI to avoid explosions

  • great game. shame you don't think so and obliterated the sound

  • f**k'n music, U make Me sick!

  • f**k'n music, U make Me sick!

  • OH GOD HOW I DEARLY MISS THE REAGAN YEARS, ESPECIALLY HIS MILITARY BUILDUP WHICH MADE POSSIBLE OUR GREAT VICTORY IN DESERT STORM AS WELL AS OUR GREAT VICTORY IN THE COLD WAR!!! GOD LOVES THE REPUBLICANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jeez, this brings back memories. I remember the higher levels of this game being just ridiculous on the 2600. Missiles would be shooting everywhere like a wild lightning storm. I'm lucky playing this game at such a formative age didn't make me go insane. :)

  • Guys if u wanna know this game is on OMGpop.com dont have to pay just get an account and play very fun.

  • in the arcade version the trick was to get to 810000.

It was 100 bonus cities at that point.

  • A very good player of the game...it's no easy feat to get that far in the game.

  • atari (DOT) com / missilecommand /arcade (DOT) php

  • i used to play this game, and it was a great game. i was never good at it but i played it as often as i can. i dont have it anymore. thaks for bringing memories!

  • i am trying to make a replica of this game in game maker, but i cant seem to get the missile sprite to come out of the right place. can you help?

  • Something about this video / music combo just works. Thanks for uploading!

  • easy on yer missile useage...

  • EXCELLENT!

  • Shock and Awe bitch!

    Semper Fi

  • Awesome skills there, and the music is rivetting! I was spellbound for the full 6 minutes... Talk about the good old days, eh?

  • lol

  • hEY thanks Joshua - for the kind words. Good ol' Aaron Copland; ya can't go wrong with A.C.

  • Tough game.

  • WOW im new to playing missile command and i dont think i will ever be that good.by the way, wats the glitch

  • Strangely enough, I was a crewchief on SAC B-52G bombers from 1984 - 1988. They were packin' heat (in the form of nuclear ALCMs), and we actually had a "Missile Command" game in our barracks. I probably pumped half my paycheck into that darn thing. Too fun!

  • The Copland music really compliments this video, I loved it. It reminds me of the music playing during any somewhat-serious 80s movie with a montage of someone doing something fascinating. What comes to mind is The Manhattan Project and the scene where the kid is making his atomic bomb. Again, great video. Thanks

  • that's a great movie

  • Well thank YOU amigo! yeah - good ol' A.C. is O.G.

  • Now this was my Friday nights back in the late seventies! coupled with Asteroids and Gorf, Missile Command was just one of those games that defined you as a arcade legend! Damnit! if i could get back just HALF of those "blipin" quarters, I would have a down payment on a house, car, and still purchase the ps3! HEY brian! how about one with star wars music from either new hope or empire strikes back!? well anyways, thanks, it was awesome!

  • Superb video, thanks for the retro memories.

  • Your better then I ever was/am at it... Awesome!:)

  • THANKS DUDE! It's a fun game, huh? Currently my favorite game is Think Tanks. ($20 for the full version & worth every penny). You might check out my video to THAT game too. Thanks again for your compliment. Be well, - BN

  • Dude, great video. I loved Missile Command but was fairly average at it. I had a friend who could break 1 mill, but my best was below 200K. The Copland music somehow works with this. Oh yeah, we used to call the spray technique "making a wall". My buddy was great at this--3 shots from the left, 3 from the right, and that's all he needed. But he his Dexterity score was 19, so it was easy for him. :)

  • Yeah - I use that word "Wall" and sometimes I call it an "Umbrella". Your friend sounds pretty good. I'm in your league. I don't think I ever broke 200K. 3 from the left & 3 from the right, eh? Maybe I'll try that too. My strategy is to use only one slow base to cover EVERYTHING. Try not to use any other base, until absolutely necessary. Thanks again for the comments. - BN

  • Oh yeah - Regarding "Strategy" - I also like taking the "long shots". If I can nail in incoming missile at the far left of my screen - by using a missile base from the far right - I think that's really cool! Extra FUN!

  • This is the Atari 5200 if I'm not mistaken, right?

  • Hi Erick. You're very close. Atari Yes, but it's actually the Atari Classic Games Collection for PC. (Or something like that). Comes with Gravitar, Tank Battle & others. Under $ 20 & it's worth every penny! Thanks for checking out my videos. Cheers! - BN

  • Excellent. It would be nice to have the original sounds tho'.

  • Yeah Mango - I couldn't agree with you more. Sorry about not having the sounds. If you appreciate sound - you might check out the "Misslie Command 2005" edition (give or take 3 years). It's in stereo and has terrific cgi video interludes of cities being wiped out by missiles. It's very cool visually, but the game itself kind of sucks. The original classic 1977 (give or take 3 years) version is a lot more fun to actually play. Thanks for checking out my videos. Cheers! - BN

  • I am especially fond of this game because I was so enthralled with it back in 1980/81. My highest score was 1,465,000 :) Cheers.

  • Well I think that just about slaughters the hell outta me. You go girl! '80/'81 eh? I thought I came pretty close by goin' with the year Star Wars came out. Ah -HAHHH! There's some fun history, eh?

Thanks & be well! - BN

  • :D....Remember the glitch after 810,000 points?

My friends and I could keep playing this thing for literally hours at the arcade after the glitch.

I used to have mad skills playing this game.

    Thanks for posting Brian. :)

  • dude i'm so mad i suck at missle comand (could never make it past level 3 or so)*shakes fist*

  • I sucked, too. I remember that once you got to a high enough level, it was all about emptying out your silos in a horizontal spray across the screen as quickly as possible. This was also one of the first games to have a track ball.

  • Damn Dude! That's totally right. 1 of the 1st games to have a track ball. I'd not thought of that. I could have gone through college with all the quarters I pumped into that machine. Fun though. Thanks for checkin out my videos. Take care, BN

  • I lead a very dull life. But have to be good at SOMETHING, right? Seriously - thanks for looking at my videos. Be well, BN

  • I nominate this individual for the new minister of defense. Ronald Reagan would have been very proud.

  • RR?? Wowzers. I'm honoured. One of the last decent republicans we had. & I should know - 'cause I are one. Thanks for the kind words amigo!
