The hunt has traditionally provided Newfoundland fisherman their main source of 'disposable income'. Their seasonal fishing only provides of source of subsistance. It is the money they earn from the hunt which allows the to buy improvements for their homes and families.

Seals have been around for millions of years and fish populations have always kept stable despite Canadians spreading lies blaming seals. The Canadian fisheries mafia is directly responsible for the collapse of fish populations by their no-limit factory trawlers. Arctic seals are a world wildlife heritage. Canadians drove cod to extinction. Then they blamed seals, even though it is well known that the seals' diet is not even cod. Because of their greed the seal population is on the decline.

Canada's govt "management" plan still allows for the seal numbers to drop very very far below the lowest level they have ever reached, which was 1.8 million in the 1970s. The seal population is now endangered. The brutal slaughter of seals is a personally lucrative off-season activity conducted by a few 1000 east coasters. Their income is mainly from commercial fisheries such as crab shrimp and lobster throughout the year. Only a tiny fraction of their economy is from massacring seals.

IT IS VERY OBVIOUS that it is not the seals that have killed off the fish. The cod and other species were wiped out by the gross incompetence and the corruption and greed of the Canadian DFO. The main diet of seals is squid and herring, and cod were abundant when seal population was at its highest level which they conveniently forget to mention in their propaganda.

There was originally 40 million seals on the east coast, and now seals are reduced to less than 10% of their original numbers. There are now under 3 million seals and their population is falling because of the greedy seal massacre and ice loss due to global warming. There is also evidence to this day of massive cruelty and large numbers of seals that linger and suffer for hours.

That 5 million is WRONG, a guess by your DFO which is of course full of known liars and clones. They admitted they don't have an accurate census. Outside estimates differ. The last time you massacred seals at this rate (BTW unheard of in scale and brutality in world history) the seals were reduced to 50% of their numbers. Guess what your DFO's "management" plan wants to do? Reduce them to far beneath their lowest numbers in the 70's, 1.8 million. Your idol Loyola Hearn wants their extinction.

Only a handful of people made $6 mill after expenses from this..1/10 of 1% of their income. They cost Canada $465 million in boycotts. How many videos have been taken of the seal hunt, and all of them show the same thing. These defenseless animals that don't have any way of protecting themselves being slaughtered. nowadays MOST consumed meat products are bred, raised, farmed. a viable sustainable living for all: farmer, transporter, consumer.
