  • what is a bamboo shoot

  • Balls n nuts

  • what do bamboo shoots taste like?

  • Holy Crap that looks tasty!

  • did he use sweet thai basil in the actual dish? I want to make this tomorrow so if someone can let me know i would appreciate it. Thanks

  • @MissAngie8787 yes he did. The basil and the lime leaf help to mellow your curry smell. The trick is to let everything cook and basil go in last, then turn off the fire. You do not want to overcook your basil. You want to be able to see it.

  • Oh cool this recipe seems easy, I don't know about bamboo shoots they taste weird to me but I'll definitely give this a try..I'm used to making yellow chicken curry it's more Indian

  • i tried cooking this once without watching youtube nor looking at any recipes, and i accidentally added water to it. so i later turn to making kapoon instead. lol! i'm going to try again with out adding water this time.

  • how cute. this seems so easy to follow. I will try it out!:)

  • haha stir it properly dammit :). No i understand he´s stressing a bit for the demonstration :)

  • do i have to cover while cooking the chicken? i dont have fishsauce is it okay

  • @tallchiq use salt. what do u thinks gonna happen?? its not dangerous....

  • do i have to cover while cooking the chicken?

  • great job short and quick great camera great english

  • One thing I love your recipes. However, I don't see why you would use the wooden board for your chicken and the plastic board for the veggies. I would reverse that order as the plastic board is easier to disinfect under soapy hot water and bleach, than is the wooden board. I have a plastic board reserved only for my raw meats and only use the wooden board for chopping veggies.

  • I had to subscribe!! Great video!

  • Hi ive seen people add oil first then the red thai curry paste then coconut milk, but many people do like yourself coconut milk first then the red thai curry paste,,,Which is the best way? thank you

    great channel...

  • Your videos are awesome Itkman! Thanks!

  • Why would you use the store bought curry paste.? You need to make it from scratch because it tastes much better.

  • @supergirl2997 What the heck you never watch this =/ And how do you know that Tell!

  • in thailand they have a traditional soup, with bamboo, can you make this for me. i really like to know what the story is behind this tradition, and would like to make it !

  • Isnt 3 tablespoons curry paste too much for a can on coconut milk? Usually it is 1 - 2 tablespoons... anyway 3 tablespoons will be very spicy.

  • Kai I made this 2 days in a row it's so damn good thanks :)

  • HOly moly! i tried green curry paste because i always get green curry at thai restaurants. And i added in 3 chillis. It was SOOOOOO spicy. But it was super good

  • i like it with tofu with alot of meat plus nice video.

  • @sonosuke123 do you cook the chicken the same way as here?

  • @sonosuke123 I mean the tofu not chicken.

  • This is the boiled/stew method, perhaps more traditional but I prefer the stir fried method better. I coat the chicken in corn starch and then pan fry it to a light golden brown in some oil, take it out and then do the veggies and sauce, then add the chicken back in. I find this gives the chicken much better texture and flavor.

  • I love all you're recipe they are all so simple and easy to make.

  • can i use cream of coconut instead of coconut milk?

  • @phireburd87 actually no. cream of coconut and coconut milk are both really thick but they are not the same. the cream of coconut is used for mixed and desserts because of the added sugar that's what makes is much sweeter. as for the coconut milk it's has more of a rich, creamy liquid made from water and coconut pulp that is unsweetened. hope this helps.

  • can i use cream of coconut instead of coconut milk?

  • I found an awesome restaurant in Downtown Honolulu that serves awesome Panang w/garlic chicken. I was looking for a good Panang recipe, and came across your recipe, looked good and tried it. Let me just say that I LOVE IT! i made a couple changes, i added more bamboo shoots and minus the chili pepper (curry paste is spicy enough for me} Great recipe! I will be cooking again!

  • yum

  • can you tell me how many servings all your cooking videos make?thanks i would really love to know.

  • very easy to make and you made it simple. thank you :)

  • is this hot?

  • come to my house

  • Very nice step by step for the 1st time curry cook. Thanks

  • i love thai chicken curry; I love eating them with sticky rice(:

    They're the best.

  • Thank You Itk looks very good I will try soon...

  • perfect recipes...i have tried it and its really tasty

  • I made this today and it turned out good, but was too hot for my families taste. How can I make it flavorful but less hot?

  • exactly how i make mine too! and many of your other recipes are almost exactly how i make mine! very authentic.

  • This is exactly how I make it. Make sure the red oils come to the surface when you first add the curry paste and keep stirring. I love to add some pineapple chunks. It is yummy w/the curry sauce.

  • pineapple makes the dish.

  • Thank you. I've always loved Thai food and this is my favorite Thai dish with white rice. Yuuuummmm!

  • Thanks Kai for all your recipes ! I wasn't much of a cook, but you inspire me to try. Thanks again.

  • mmm that looks good, i have bamboo shoots and coconut milk already, i think I'm gonna get some stuff from the store and make this tonight, some of it sounds hard to find though =(

  • My first attempt at making this was a overall success however mine came out much thicker than shown here. One thing I did notice at the asian store there were two size of cans of coconut milk one 13.5 floz and the other about 15floz . Im not sure if he is using a larger can or the smaller can but I wish I would have added a bit more coconut milk in mine -- oh well

  • I just had the chance to make this today and I thought it was awesome.

I used sliced bamboo shoots from the can.

I also added Japanese Eggplant just "because."

One thing I didn't have were the kaffir leaves and lemon grass was not available fresh. However the store I went to had a lemon grass paste in a tube so I used about a half tbsp of that.

I am going to cut the amount of fish sauce I use down to 1Tbsp because I can almost taste too much of it and omg that stuff is RANK--lol

  • I've made this a few times, and my family loves it. I just crave the flavor sometimes! Lime leave are sold by the branch at my local asian market, so I freeze what's left for the next time. I also use canned bambo.

  • hm delicious... but I fry the chicken, veges and curry paste first and then add the coconut milk

  • I made this dish and it was very good. I didn't put 3 tbsp curry in it but only 2 and I did not put the red chillis in it because I knew it would be too hot for us to eat. So if you don't like über hot food then watch the curry paste!

  • So it 's really boiled skinless chicken meat in coconut milk. Hmmm...doesn't sound that good to me. I prefer my meat to be seared a bit.

  • Thai Curry Paste is way different than Indian (India) Curry. Look it up!

There are also many Thai food Recipe websites out there to help you practice cooking.

  • Could this be Gang Gai?

What no Chicken stock, no turmeric?

I use 1 tbls red curry paste and many more hot thai peppers, if you can't get thai peppers try cherry peppers.

Brown Sugar taste better than regular sugar.

    No basil.

  • hahahaha i think you are the retard for someone who gets so negative when it comes to curry!

i was simply replying to krayzgerman's comment saying it was an ancient chinese recipe.

you're just an ignorant fuck :]

  • i love curry no matter where it came from thailand or india. im laotion and i live with my boyfriends family which is vietnamese and never have i thought that we eat such similar dishes, so just cause its curry dont think its all made from india, it may be similar but you know its a bit different, in style, taste, and ingredients

  • hahahha

from all your damn thai videos you're in over brain cells with your thai pride and ignorant attitude with other cuisine. how can you make fun of the country where thai curry is deprived from.

  • yea Headofmush is right, its India

  • This is definitely South Asian curry. Not chinese nor indian.

    Coconut milk people! Hello?!

  • yeah besides it says in the title "thai" -chicken curry.

  • oops...south east asian i meant.

  • fuck i cant understand you man lol

    but good food B]

  • Thanks for posting this. Everytime I try to make chicken red curry it never comes out like what I get at the restaurants! I'm going to try your technique!!

  • Man instead of the white sugar its better to use palm sugar, and add kra Chai as well...

  • are the bamboo shoots necessary for the flavor? I don't know if I'll find those. I don't know of any local asian stores but I find most things at my grocery store. I don't remember seeing bamboo shoots though.

  • You can get them in a can too.
