My god that track is dangerous - no run-off areas at all to speak of, apart from the exit of the loop at the bottom of the hill. Those drivers had balls!
Yes, but the drivers of these days said it was a horror to drive those cars. Too hard suspension and too fast in the corners. Piquet, Jones and Reutemann had to reach a new level of fitness for these wingcars.
@Sokra01 I guess that explains why them seem to fly over the bumps a lot. I guess that they were not as planted as the F1 cars of today due to the now much increased level of downforce achieved.
@MrRockzoul Not at all, he was a great driver, but very on the right politically and believer in God ( he was raised by the jesuits) , he thought in Las Vegas 1981 that God was saying to him that God couldn´t give him the title as God had already given to him many good things.

One year later they will duel in Las Vegas for the title. You can trace perfectly the two different driving styles of Piquet and Reutemann.

This is a great peice of footage. I like how those cars dance over the bumps and how smooth their driving styles were. Wonderful to watch.

Downforce and the advanced suspension.
I think it ws Piquet who said something like:After that year we all need good chiropractors.
