There was only one (max two or three if you count the Broadway production) true Lumiere; the late (and great) Jerry Orbach. Considering Disney's resources, they could've gotten Lumiere's lines straight from the movie instead of hiring someone who completely butchered the French! Or at least asked one of the 12 Broadway-Lumiere alumni!
