I think on this particular song when Jon sings it it tends to get a bit to "cheesy" if so to speak. With Samboras more rough voice it feels so much more true and real. With all respect to Jon cause he's probably the best rock singer alive, in my opinion anyway, but when it comes to this song I have to say Richie all the way :)

richie should be the singer, he can hit all of the nots, whereas Jon struggles a little with the higher notes.

You are a little bit mistaken, maybe that Jon doesnt achieve those higher notes anymore as he did in the past, but he still has a very high voice. Compare both songs with JBJ and RS on vox! both got special singing techniques but anyway both hit those high notes which is in a chord language a high C major! take for example always from the Wembley performance in 1995! and you can listen which amazingely perfect range Jon´s voice has ! You see i am a huge RS fan too

but i cant deny the fact that Jon has the best hardrock voice of all times, richie has more a soulful blues-rock voice! these are two different techniques of singing. And thats why i struggle also with a decision whos the better singer! I prefer Richie, but mostly on his own songs he really did great jobs on IBTFY too and even these days was great performed. But u really cant say that jon doesnt hit the higher notes! Sorry man just my opinion and as a musician as well, i guess i am not so wrong!
