Before deeming self harm to be Batil perhaps you should take a closer look at the acts of the Sahab. The Sahaba's hitting their heads and the silence of the Prophet (s) proves that such acts of distress are not haraam. If the act of the Sahaba's beating themselves is not Batil then the Shi'as act of beating themselves should not be construed as Batil either.
Salaam to all Shias who call themselves Muslims. First of all there is nothing in Islam which says that you should beat yourselves up. Furthermore I ask all Shias that did any of the Sahaba (R.A) do any of these stupid actions that Shias do at the time of Kerbala. Even a greater question did any of the Sahaba beat themselves up at the time of the demise of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W)? I think not.
ASALAM O ALIKUM, we all are the beleivers of one ALLAH and the PROPHET (S.A.W.W), so tere should no more division in islam, secondly you want references, ok go and study history, who was Hazrat Owais Karni (R.A), who broke all of his teeths in love with NABI (S.A.W.S) when he heared that in Ghazwa, kufar has broken(shaheed) only one of his teeth, wot u will call HAZRAT YAQOOB(A.S) when he cried alot in the love of his son YOUSAF (A.S), please stop this cursing,(n for ur info am not shia am suni)
salamualaykum brother...allah says in the quran that your religion is islam and islam only, so therefore i am a muslim with the shia of ali which means i follow him after the profet s.a.w to lead us to the ways of the profit as allah has purified him, profit s,a,w said love his family, so when we cry (not beat ourselves) bevause of the way they were tortured i would call that love rather than what you think of it. we're all muslims we shud stick 2gether..salamualaykum brother
Mu'awiya bin Hakim Sami narrates that I read Salat behind the Prophet. A person sneezed and I recited Alhamdolillah on him. People began to stare at me, I asked 'Why are you staring at me?' the Sahaba began to hit their heads."not be construed as Batil either.
If hitting oneself is Haraam then what Fatwa do you have for the Prophet? The Pillar of Shari'ah is himself hitting his chest, so if the Shi'a do the same, why are their actions Batil?
"And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allâh, so call on Him by them, and leave the company of those who belie or deny (or utter impious speech against) His Names. They will be requited for what they used to do." (Al-A'araaf:180)

Al Bukhari lies about the prophet Moses (as), O muslims read:
Narrated Abu Hurayra (RA): The Prophet (s) said, "The people of Bani Israel used to take bath naked all Together looking at each other. The prophet Moses (RA) used to take bath, alone. They said, 'By Allah! Nothing prevents Moses from talking a bath with us except that he has a scrotal hernia.' So, once Moses went out to take a bath and put his clothes over a stone and then that stone ran away with the clothes.
" Moses followed the stone saying, "My clothes, O stone! My clothes, O stone! Till the people of Bani Israel saw him and said 'By Allah, Moses has got no defect in his body. Moses took his clothes and began to beat the stone." Abu- Hurayra added, "By Allah! There are still six or seven marks present on the stone from the beating."
thank you lostprophet for the example of owais.. but ofcourse Imam Hussein (as) is not dead, i know of sunnis who pray to God through Imam Hussein (as) and their wishes are granted..:
"And say not those who have been slain in the path of Allah to be dead for they are alive and you do not know."(Holy Quraan) - its beyond our perception.. its with God and His ultimate power!
brother, I have a question, in my 19 years of being shia, I have now come to one thing, I understand the righteousnous and the love of Muhammad(saws) and Ahlul Bayt(a.s), but I fear something, and you seem more knowledgable. So here is my question
DO you think too much love for Ali(a.s) can lead us astray from righteousnous the same way too much hate for Ali(a.s) will also lead to falsehood and biggotry?
Ali(a.s) and righteousness are inseparable. He 's most loved by Allah & His Rasul(saaw). He is Akhee-Rasulullah & Amirul Mukmineen.
I shall say that we should love Ali(a.s) totally coz Ali(a.s) loves Allah-Rasulullah totally, so much so that true followers would sacrifice their life for Ahlul byte(a.s) Imam Hussain(a.s)'s family members, relatives and friends in Karbala. They must've loved Hussain(a.s) too much otherwise they werent capable of sacrificing their lives.
I have seen few videos of yours and have closely read your comments and you aremashlaah very bright and smart when it comes to answering people's comments. Thank you for your kind words, which I do not deserve. The reason I never seem angry in my comments is because I tend to think long and hard before posting anything, but when I do read some nonsense people sling around, I get quite angry, and my elder brother can testify to that, hehe (",)

okay, tatbir is not wajib, its something that is done out of grief.. we do mataam (beat our chests out of grief)
when a mother loses her child, she hits herself so much.. its just a natural response! leaving tatbir aside for a second, we should be able to give our lives for the Imams (as)
i personally dont nelieve that because ive herd otherwise and maybe u do wait day and night for the 12 imam but i know khameinei duznt. go to this book (ill find out wat the name is and ill post it on) and ull see that every single other leader has sed that u shud do tatbeer. i dont think hes a great man i think he needs help
In Shia Islam, we have a wide range of opinion on most matters of Fiqh. And with Tatbir, their is a difference of opinion, some scholars say Tatbir should be done (Ayatollah Shirazi), other Scholars say Tatbir can be done but should be avoided since it gives a bad impression of the Shia (Ayatollah Khamenei). This does not mean that one Scholar is wrong and one is right, both are correct in their own ways. We should choose one opinion and not critisize the others.
"lost prophet 786" , i am iranian n khamenei (la) is rong coz evry other leader sez tatbeer is v.good and u shud encourage it if u dont then u r in danger of losing ur faith. khamenei never duz it coz hes scared n he wants to put ppl on the rong path. he isnt evn seyed n all he wants is money. a person hu loves money is on the rong path and imam ali (as) in his lifetime divorced money 3 times and in religion if man and wife divorce 3 times they cannot get married again.
"coz evry other leader sez tatbeer is v.good and u shud encourage it if u dont then u r in danger of losing ur faith"
Are you serious? If you dont do Tatbeer you lose your faith? That is absolutely ridiculous. So are you saying that I am not a Shia because I dont do Tatbeer?
How can we SHIA loose our Faith when we recite the QURAN or ZIYARAT ASHURA? Why only does Tatbeer protect our Faith? Is Tatbeer greater than the Quran and the Ziyarats?
"khamenei never duz it coz hes scared n he wants to put ppl on the rong path"
You slander such great men?
Put people on the wrong path? Are you hallucinating brother? The Islamic Republic of Iran represents true Shia Islam, Shia's who wait day and night for the 12th Imam.
Your comment about Khamenei and money is very saddening, even the greatest enemies of the Islamic Government have admitted that Khamenei lives an austere life, and for you to repeat the same lie is only ignorance.
imam ali (a.s) told divorce three time to this world but everybody knows that even like a person like imam ali(a.s) just comming to power raised so many enemies ...same in the case of khamenei.he is good person and wants good for people thats why u ppl oppose him.truth is always bitter and ritious has always to face critisism..well i can say the propaganda of america is sucessfull in case like u
ok i had a biggg question!! can someone please help me? and asnwer it? ok here goes.... In the imam ali movie i wanted the full dua/ prayer recited before malik naghavi goes off and leaves to some other land then later gets poisoned, it is the part where he sees his wife hajar and his son for the last time! can someone tell me pleaaaaaaaaaaaaseeeeeeeeeeee! where i could find that prayer and that same person praying it? is it on youtube?
The respected brothers in the Sunni school of thought say that we must act upon the ways of the respected Sahaba, right?
Owais Al-Qarni (ra), a sahaba from Yemen, smashed his teeth with rocks when he heard the Prophet had lost a tooth at Uhud, and when the Prophet found out, he said "I smell the fragrance of Jannah coming from Yemen"
see but that was for a living person. secondly there is a difference between mourning and remembering, the quran outliens the time for mourning it is not for centuries.
But self-flagellation or beating is different from breaking your teeth, again I haven't foudn anything in the books of teh imams about hitting yourself.
"the quran outliens the time for mourning it is not for centuries"
Where does the Quran outline the time for mourning? Please provide reference
"self-flagellation or beating is different from breaking your teeth"
Breaking of teeth is actually more of a drastic and painful form of self-inflicted pain, it is far more extreme than self-flagellation or chest-beating
If it was a form of Sunnah then why did no other Companion join in with him in the act of breaking their own teeth?
'If you were true in friendship than why on the day when the holy teeth of the Prophet (s) were broken didn't you break your teeth in companionship? Because, it is a condition of companionship.' (Uwais Qarni to Umar Khattab)[Refer to: 'Tadhkhirathul Awliya', Page 17/18]
Breaking one's teeth is a thousand times more painful than the beating of one's chest for a few hours. It is more extreme than chest beating with chains or knives (Zanjeer) Compare the removal of a tooth to the forced removal of a full set of teeth without the benefit of modern day anaesthetics and instruments. The pain must have been unbearable. This was clearly an act of great courage.
I don't doubt Uwais Qarni, however his act was an act of the moment. The zanjeerzani is instituted, as part of religion, not a personal choice. Also I don't recall a single hadith or a book from the 12 saying La Illa ha ilallah ali wali allah? What's with that? Also how does cursing someone dead better your soul? Shia justify this by saying allah cursed people, but Allah is God not a man, surely there are different rules no?
"not a personal choice." in that every rafidha i have spoken to has nothing against beating yourself with swords, even encouraging it. Didn't the prophet say during his last speech that his religion is complete? When did he allow the hitting of swords? Please reference, I want a sword-in-the-head-of-a-child-smashing hadith not a tooth breaking one.
Salamz everyone. May i ask, in the movie description its mentioned that the Prophet(PBUH)says:'O' Fatimah! Every eye shall be weeping on the Day of Judgment except the eye which has shed tears over the tragedy of Husain.' How can that be? Because the tragedy occured after the Propets (PBUH) demise. :S
im sunni and iv been reedin about kerbala, and you cant help but cry for hussien and his family, no one in history has sacrificed as much as hussien has for islam, the problem with us sunnis is that we dont know anything about kerbala and also ahlulbayt a.s, after all this is something very important in islam, so sunni brothers i strongly advise you to learn about wat happened in kerbala and who was in the wrong.
i Agree i have been in some sunni countries like morocco and they dont know anything about karbala, and they ask us who is hussein (as),Ali (as) ...btw when someone tries to explain to them, it is for some reason ,difficult for them to understand :/
What deviated ways? Crying for the family of the prophet? You would cry for your own family if they were killed, The family of the prophet is much greater than any of our family, so their rights on us are greater then our own family, so why not cry for the family of the prophet if you can cry for your own family if they are killed
I LOVE that qoute. I only wish that on the 10th day of Muhram when Imam Hussien (pbuh) was shouting "Is there anyone else that can help me" (after all companions have died) I could of been ther and said: Yes, son of Ali and grandson of Propher Mohamed I am here to help you. For I will take any sword through my heart and shed any tears for you O Hussien. Unfortuneltly there is a gap in time.

Mourning and hitting one self is the Sunnah of the Prophet
As evidence we shall cite the following works:
Saheeh al Bukharee Volume 2 page 50
Sunan al Nasai Volume 3 page 305
Adhaan al Mufreed page 426
Saheeh al Muslim Volume 1 page 291
Musnad Abu Awana Volume 2 page 292
these books state:
"Rasulullah (s) was in a state where he was hitting his chest."

Well I am not sure who you talked to. If you talked to the Iranians, they would tell you that Imam Khamenei has banned this practice.
Sorry for the late reply, I never saw your message.
Peace be upon You

A drop in the sea my friend. Also posting a reply a month later isn't good akhlaq. Learn from Fatima Bibi.

The Prophet was told this by Angel Jibrael, who narrated the story of Kerbala to the Prophet, and also brought some earth from Kerbala to the Prophet
When Imam Hussein was born, the Prophets household cried for 3 days, as the prophet knew what events were going to unfold in the future.

im sunni and iv been reedin about kerbala, and you cant help but cry for hussien and his family, no one in history has sacrificed as much as hussien has for islam, the problem with us sunnis is that we dont know anything about kerbala and also ahlulbayt a.s, after all this is something very important in islam, so sunni brothers i strongly advise you to learn about wat happened in kerbala and who was in the wrong.
uthman786 5 years ago
Subhanallah, I appreciate your thought, may Allah guide us all to the right path
No one sacrificed more for Islam than the grandson of the Holy Prophet, Imam Hussayn (a.s.), a very good point

i Agree i have been in some sunni countries like morocco and they dont know anything about karbala, and they ask us who is hussein (as),Ali (as) ...btw when someone tries to explain to them, it is for some reason ,difficult for them to understand :/

may Allah guide you shias back to the sunnah of the prophet mohammad pbuh and away from these deviated ways
h45an 5 years ago
