  • Anyone know if they are using "infrasound" to make this movie scarier? Because in the first few seconds of putting it on you feel very uncomfortable.

  • "Starring the gorgeous ladies from Mullholand Drive-" So where are they? I just see a couple of over-the-hill scrotum-esque wrinkle-beasts.

  • I hate it when some shallow pretentious people are trying to criticize Lynch's movies and all they've got to say is words like "Coherent, doesn't make sense, etc". And I feel sorry for them cause Lynch's movies are as clear as DAY! But it is the mind set of the most of the audience that can not grasp and understand its subjects and the way they are presented, and that is not wrong, the wrong thing is to come here and try to show off, while you are just making a joke out of your self.

  • @tarkovskychild lol u mad that most smart people aren't impressed by LOL SO RANDUMB xD xD like your gullible ass is?

  • Hey Mr. Lynch, thanks for Twin Peaks, it's my favourite television series ever, but right now I could come up with a more fucked up yet coherent screenplay.

  • Wow this looks intriguing and original. And possibly terrifying. I am so watching this shit.

  • @Periphery830 It's a masterpiece. Worth it!

  • what song is this? O.O I want it.

  • @thisis26 i think its called Ghost of Love and is an original song written and performed by David Lynch ( the director and wirter of this film)

  • @MrAlfred1995 Thanks! :D

  • Thissssssssss Isss so AWEfulSOME !!!!

  • Too much pretense. But still interesting to watch.

  • I've heard they're planning a sequel called "Inland Empire Strikes Back".

  • This was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Lynch takes u on a trip where he shows u things and it makes no sense and then later on that thing comes into the story and it snaps full circle. The scene at the beginning with the neighbor telling Laura Dern 'actions have consequences' makes no sense when u hear it but it basically tells everything thats going to happen thereafter.

  • @kortick50 Yeah I am with you on the story all being there and coming full circle. One of my all time favorites. And unlike Mulholland Drive I went away feeling not half bad.

  • Hey Sarah Palmer!

  • lol wtf? I live in the I.E.

  • in the words of david lynch "i don't make films for the audience, i make them for myself"

  • No. Just no. Now he's just looking what he can get away with.

  • Is the movie really just shot with a camcorder and some flashlights? It looks ugly as fuck.

  • @bigstabby yes (but im not sure about the flashlights). its a stylistic effect.

  • love this brain madness.

  • david lynch knows how to fuck with your mind

  • pretty much

  • Clearly, the life of a whore is terrible, and all so often self-imposed.

  • is this better then fantastic planet?

  • Can anyone tell me if the enjoyment of this movie may be enhanced by marijuana?

  • What song is playing in the background? Please respond!

  • @thedevo01 Ghost of Love

  • It was not as classy as Mulholland Drive i think. Maybe that´s the amateur thing who disappointed me but the movie is still very very good with somes great good scenes. Lynch is all about unconscious and dark memories, crazy fantasy, women, red and black, strange talk, absurd places ... :))

  • 166 likes 14 dislikes?????

  • wow....what a well-done trailer.

  • i think all of you who dont understand should look az it as a dream or a trip... that's about it.

  • watched the movie.

looks more like an amateur director trying to copy Lynch, rather than Lynch himself directing a movie.

  • Lynch is a freaking genius.

  • three words: what the fuck

  • even though she's only in the film for about 15 minutes, Grace Zabriske is my absolute FAVORITE part of this incoherent mind-fuck of a movie!!

  • my mind my mind my mind it has been shattered shattered by his shattered shattered shattered shattered in the best way way way way way way way...
  • WTF?

  • That was simply the must fucked up thing i've seen in my life.... I didn't understand shit about it...

  • :32 made me just about piss myself.

  • @turtlewings me too hahah

  • omg please somebody tell me what is this movie about,, i watched it last nights on tv,,, but its weirdly attractive and the understandability is zero please who know reply me

  • @hmhmym There's nothing to understand from movies made by David Lynch. I've seen all of them, and Eraserhead along with Mulholland Dr. are the only ones I can figure out approximately what they are about, the storyline itself that is. I however still don't understand -alot- of the metaphors from the movies.

As said, there's nothing to understand or "figure out". David Lynch is mentally insane.

  • @4ngelDust i didnt get eraserhead can you tell something about the storyline because i realy didnt understand shit

  • What the FUCK man D:

  • @BudaTomu Seriously WHAT THE FUCK?!

  • This movie confused the hell out of me. I've seen it two times and still don't get it.

  • i used to have a goldfish that once shat a piece of crap so long, it trailed maybe 5 times its body length behind him. it was the longest piece of shit i have ever seen.. then i watched 'Inland Empire'.

  • @arbiknoxvillain It is kind of a real great movie, watch it again.

  • What kind of trailer is this?? Its just 4 random scenes and a guitar in the background. I mean c'mon DAVID! WHAT THE F#CK?

  • You know how people sometimes huff paint to get hallucinations? I think this would be a better substitute.

  • Wow David Lynch is fucking stupid, none of his movies make sense, the only person who understands them are david himself and maybe a few LSD addicts. People say theres artistic meanings and symbolism in his films.... I DONT SEE SHIT!

I wasted a few hours of my time watching eraserhead. There was hardly any dialogue in the whole film and none of it made sense. I watched it 3 times and its still just a bunch of random shit thrown together

  • @mucasPARTSstudios

So, Lynch is stupid simply because you didn't understand the movie? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The whole beauty of Lynch's movies is that the audience is always in a kind of limbo; you're never entirely sure what's happening, but you're compelled to keep watching. His movies aren't for everyone, but I think there is ALOT to be gained from repeated viewings, as you'll notice new visual and narrative meanings.

  • @mucasPARTSstudios Just because YOU don't understand it doesn't mean the filmmaker was stupid. What kind of moron are you? He's not trying to be intellectual and assign meanings, he's interested in instincts. Everyone takes from it their own personal meaning. Stay the hell away from Lynch movies. They aren't for close-minded morons like you.

  • @Tigerlily21

And you better stay away from my penis!

  • this video has been sampled in the track "il dr. moebius" by roggy luciano. search it!!!

  • whats the name of the song?

  • For all those watching this movie, realize it is not about defining or describing its meaning; for it has none. It is the synthesis of human experience, the product of a human's cognitive behaviour woven into a narrative of fluid, ephemeral fabric. Do not expect a concrete, causally propelled linear narrative. Expect a narrative that attempts to reconcile with human memory, emotion and thought. It is surrealism at its best.

  • Initially, with this film, I was like WTF, but every time I re-watch it, I actually enjoy it more & more.

  • What the hell is this film all about ...? Can't find it anywhere to rent or buy ...

  • I haven't watched this all the way through, but Muholland Dr scared the hell out of me and was a trip. Im going to watch this one right notw.

  • this is how it is in the i.e. its a rugged look! siiiiiiiiiiiiiike where the bangers at?

  • p.s. that was in response to "LuaBloe"

  • THe song on the trailer?

  • wow i live in the inland empire and none of this shit ever goes on

  • you should watch this monstrosity of a film in a cinema. no one going to toilet, no one coughing, no one noshing sth, no cell ringing, doors locked - enter the ultimate mindfuck

  • In all honesty I thought the movie sucked!!! And anyone admiring this film and calling it so-called art is off their mind. To avoid all arguments at all cost you must categorise that "Inland empire" is not a film nor a movie. The plot? The climax? The Storyline? There was none. And as for The resolution ... Nothing was resolved. It was like a whacky video clip from "The prodigy" except it was 3 hours long. In comparison to a similar movie: Donnie Darko, now thats a good movie.

  • Thats what art is, art is meant to get an emotional reaction from people and as youve just demonstrated by your opinion, have, in a non direct way, confirmed that this is art

  • ...then, anything and everything is "art"!

  • Lol yes in a way thats true, but real art does, the artist has to bring meaning to their creations through research, experience and emotions. You have to try and convey a message. You just cant paint something and call it real art if it there is no purpose or meaning behind it. An artist needs to back up their art with some sort of research. when you look at the rabbit scene of inland empire, there is so much to appreciate from it, from the lighting to meaning. Sorry if I sound like a bore

  • @ktayor1

what if the message is... no message. is that still a message?! i like art. but i dislike this name "art" which is brandied about. it's so nebulous and vague and arbitrary and very very elitist. a tree is a wonderful work of art. i'll agree with you up to a certain point, at which some "artists" just become convinced of their own "genious" and start believing their own bull***!

  • @the81kid Thats the great thing about post modernism, you dont have to go along with what these elitetist say. you can like something just for the sake of liking something. If you dont like what the "genius" spout about themselves then that is your valid opinion, and any one who says different is still stuck in the modern era.

  • @ktayor1

sorry. "post modernism" is just another waffle word to me. i'm not trying to aggravate you, honestly. but how you just defined "post modernism" to me: people have been liking what they like for all history without caring about "valid opinions"! so the term is meaningless, you're just discussing life!

(but if we must discuss that ridiculous term, i've had conversations in my uni with many students and lecturers who even say the term is a self-contradiction!) sorry dude!

  • @the81kid no need to be sorry, everyones view is valid, if you dont like the way things are then thats your right, thats what po mo is, not abiding by traditional rules, the thing with art, as you pointed out, is anything can be considered art. The only trouble with that is convincing the majority that you view is valid. Some of the great works of arts, I think are crap too. And wonder what these people who paint them were thinking.

  • @ktayor1

that is the situation, yes. and i even mostly agree with you. i love creativity from people, but dislike the term "art" - it actually has no definition. creativity sounds better.

  • @the81kid it certainly does!

  • @the81kid It's not art unless the maker considers it art. If you can make something, call it art, and be able to either interpret it, or make other people begin to interpret/see meaning in it, then yes, anything CAN be art.

  • @MSISOAD

i just sneezed into a tissue. i'm calling it art. can i be considered for the Turner prize now?

i'm sorry, i'd rather consider my baby sisters drawings (which are pretty awesome, and un-commercial, honest, original works) as art than this tripe!

  • @the81kid Can you explain to me why the tissue is art? What's the meaning? Obviously there is none. And if you made something up to fit why it's art, then you're not sincere, and it's not art. Why are we arguing over what art is? I don't give a s**t about art, I just know that I love this movie.

  • @MSISOAD

why do i have to call it art? why does it have to have meaning? why does it have to be sincere? i'm being devil's advocate here, but i'm making a point too.

(by the way, if you love this movie, i'm happy for you. but i don't.)

  • @the81kid If you actually read my post thoroughly, you would have realized that I said that it can also be art if you can apply meaning to it or interpret it. Like not you as the artist, but the viewer.

  • @MSISOAD

then i apologize for mis-reading. but i do stand by my point of being able to offer something ridiculous (like snotty tissue) and calling it art. i realise it is subjective, but if we have no limits, we'll be lost.

  • @the81kid That's true.

  • Watching this movie released an intense feeling of primal fear. Simultaneously it has liberated an extreme longing for something undefined.

  • @hypercotton

sounds like when i woke up this morning... but it passed.

  • i loved this movie's atmosphere. Really. Especially the rabbits.

  • My apologies. I didn't mean to insult anyone, but never before had a movie made me so angry.

I love Mulholland Drive & Lost Highway, but i completely lost respect for Lynch when i saw a pseudo conference where he was trying to rise millions of dollars for his "Peace Universities". Of course, i started hating him for good after that terrible Inland Empire. That's all folks!

  • One thing that this movie has taught me is that life is short, and that i should never again waste 3 precious hours of my life watching some piece of pretentious, meaningless crap (or should i say vomit?). I love how sheep-fans actually think for hours and months about the meaning of that little detail or word, when Lynch just threw some "crazy" ideas in the air with no idea about the whole thing in the end. Fans do the job for him, that's kinda hilarious.

  • actually, as a david lynch fan, I think you are right. I don't think the point of his more baffling movies is to be analyzed or figured out, but rather felt. If you don't enjoy the lynch immersion sensation than I suppose some of his work would be very boring, indeed.

  • try watching this movie on K so weird lol

  • people still do k?

i'd go as far as w/ weed tho

  • I watched this at about 12 at night and quite honestly it scared the crap out of me. It reminds me of that scene in The Shining when you see the dog-thing-man in a costume giving oral to some random dude. *shudders* one of the creepiest scenes ever. What the fuck is this movie even about?!

  • yeah the whole film is like that one scene extended out. mind you, The Shining made title cards with days of the week written on them scary. i think what EVP and ITC have found (that the soul realm is reachable thru technology) has already been used since um images on silver and other alchemy was invented. radionics proves a photo can indeed steal a soul.

  • @rochelimit55555

It's not like the 60's and 70's film were the greatest years for film or anything.

  • that's what I meant, it is so conceptual, it is soooo 60s

  • @rochelimit55555

I thought you meant what you said in a negative way. David Lynch is definity one of the greatest directors.

  • cant help but notice this cos it says "Inland Empire" but with "Rabbits" in it.. Rabbits 's my favorite Lynch work along with Eraserhead... i havent watch Inland.. so.. hmmm...

  • watch it! it's amazing, the rabbits episodes are only an extension of what's included as only clips/clues in the movie. :)

  • hw whyy's rabbits in there?

  • Also, I've found that much of Lynch's work (but most especially Inland Empire) seems to almost follow the path of a sort of nightmare, and, whether intentional or not, his films seem to capture this in essence.

  • Something that people should understand... David Lynch isn't always necessarily about "figuring out" the movie. Yes, there's always a plot there, strange as it may be, but a good deal of Lynch is about the aesthetic and the theme and the feeling and the overall experience. It's more than simply what it's "about." It's art.

  • Okay, all of you ball lickers raving about what a great signature masterpiece work of art it is - CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT THE FUCK IT'S ABOUT! Do you even know or you just trying to sound cultured. And while your at it, Lost Highway as well. No clues here!

  • This is actually one of Lynch's more easier to understand in terms of story.

The girl in the intro watching the television in a motel room is the main character of the film, though she is only shown seldom.

It's a story about a woman who had a fued with her man and their relationship hangs in the balance. She watches a movie that relates a lot to her life style; who's original story dates back to the golden age of old time radio AXXON station, which explains all the scenes in the 20's era...

  • There is something unique about the story that exceeds in to real life... this is explained by the old lady in the introduction who pays a visit to laura Dern's character. The thing in the script is an affair which transitions in to real life when the Old time radio story is made in to a movie and is never finished because it's leads were murdered...

History repeates itself with the movie remake; Laura dern and her co-star have a love scene which transitions in to real life....

  • .. Laura Derns characters's husband fins out, who is described to be a dangerous man. Around this time the movie story, and the characters story begin to blur and cross over, which actually leads in to the story of the unseen MAIN characters (Girl Watching the TV in the intro) story.

Basically, she watches the movie made by laura dern, and escaped a cycle that was labeled as a curse, she goes home to her family, and everything is happy.

It's a story within story within story within story.

  • ThanXXX 4 squaring me away!

  • well.. when watching Lynch work, it's not important to think.. but to "feel" now thats the essence of it, and the feeling of watching his movie is indescribable & rare.. i dont find the same "feel" when watching other movies, but only Lynch. It's 'Lynch Magic'.

  • My brain lost its virginity to this movie.

  • MINDFUCKED?

  • @Stootoot i too have been victimized.

  • GREAT!!

  • Fucking stunning film, as haunting, strange and mysterious as life itself.

  • This movie raped my brain.

  • How very Lynchian.

  • pure mind-fuck

    love it

especially the pale faces i get when i mention this film to anybody..

  • i would describe this film as "Sinister" siniestro

this film was like an horror movie or a nightmare to me... and really iv seen some insane stuff, but it is very artistic

  • I agree I have still to make it to the end :P

  • This movie is wonderful and terrifying. It is definitely one of those things that can hit you dead center and then you show it to a friend and they fall asleep or laugh...that's often the feeling I get from reading dismissive reviews, but whatever. I spent the whole time in horror and amazement that I was actually watching a spot-on description of feelings I've only dreamed about.

One thing: I like playing movies loud, but something really special clicks into place when you blast this one.

  • Live is a Movie.

  • How so? I haven't seen all of them, please elaborate :D

  • From watching this trailer, you understand just as much what the movie is about as if you watch all three hours of it :P

  • Its about the experience of watching the film not the story. Its art rather than commerce.

  • Laura Dern acting here is wonderful, and this film has a pair of scenes really touching - like that when Laura is seriously injured...but the whole movie was too much for me. I consider this film almost an interesting experiment. By the other way Mulholland Drive was near to perfection...the acting of Naomi Watts to begin with (oh please Academy members: give her well deserved Oscar someday)

  • I love that scene. I seems to be something else. The action of the movie is behind the frame. There is a guy siting behind the Asian girl, and Muscled black, he is looking at the fountain, where scenario to Vidocq was created as an fusion of Lost Highway, and lightning-theory.

  • i want to see this soo much! im going to buy it next time im in town. i've only just discovered david lynch (i know shocking isnt it! why only now!) and im developing a wee bit of an obsession haha

  • excellent. prepare to have your mind twisted, in the best possible way lol. :)

  • The third lynch movie I've seen, Just saw this today.

I saw blue velvet, Mulholland drive, and this.

Well, Mulholland drive prepared me for a deeply abstract video such as this. You need to eralise that each scene doesn't have to be seamed and all put together, it's the big picture that you need to "see." Notice how this movie took place within a movie? But you were still compelled to be interested in the movie, within a movie? that sort of thing, it's really interesting, makes you think.

  • The more twisted and bizarre David Lynch's movies get, the more I love 'em :)

  • this is el impressivo

  • I still don't know if I like it or not , it has haunted me since I spent 3 hrs watching it"

  • Did you understand it? It is very haunting, but i do agree that you have to be in the mood to watch a film like this. Brilliant though.

  • yo this movie is soooooooo freak GEEZ i prefer blue velvet... inland empire is just too weird

  • Watching any Lynch movie is a plunge into the abstract and the mysterious. Most crowd-pleasing Hollywood movies look hollow by comparison.

  • "In my opinion, Lynch just kid us around with casually written movies! He's a liar!"

The majority of folks in the western world respect David Lych as an 'honest' and highly successful film director of 30-years standing. I dont think some 18-year-old Italian kid calling Lynch a liar is going to phase him or his millions of fans.

Why not show us the movies that you've produced commercially and we can all judge you and your honest efforts.

  • Comment removed

  • No, you haven't offended me in the least. But just because your only 18 doesn't mean that you can express your opinion on a public forum by calling a world-renowned movie director a 'liar'. Democracy does indeed exist, and yes, everyone can use it, but its no excuse in this case.

  • The freedom to express your opinion doesn't make your opinion any less stupid.

  • interesting look at his movies. you may have something.

  • Yeah that guy is right man, lynch is my fave director because he really wants to make a movie, however other directors are just in the business for the cash. Inland Empire was directed by lynch what almost 29 to 30 years into his career, and he spent 7 years on this production, did he get a massive budget for the film NO. Did that stop him producing it? NO. There you go there's your answer, he is truly dedicated and passionate and he did not want comments like yours, u cudn't make this movie.dik

  • Comment removed

  • does anyone know this song? i cant find it!! thanks in advance.. p.s. david lynch rocks, im only just getting into his stuff now.. too bad all my family and friends are too shallow to appreciate his work

  • "Ghost of Love" by David Lynch

  • EGADS

  • I would have loved to see heath ledger in a Lynch film. ledger coulda have portayed another dark role and at the same time jump back into the inde scene for a bit.

  • totally agree!

  • Lynch needs to go back to 35mm

  • shut the hell up

  • you rule, man.

that was straight to the point.

  • I agree, but i really have enjoyed his digital forays.

  • Man, at 00:32 to 00:34 I literally shit myself!

  • I think this Movie is a tribute to Marilyn Monroe

  • i saw this with my friend and his dad just a few weeks ago, great movie, contains every single emotion and it got me into david lynch films

  • 0:32 to 0:34: That's Count Smokula.

  • God this is such an amazing movie. one of my all time favorites

  • Which genres should this be considered?

    Thriller? Horror? Drama?

  • 'Lynch' maybe? I guess David Lynch by himself is a genre.

  • I see, his movies are unique: ELEPHANT MAN, ERASERHEAD, BLUE VELVET, TWIN PEAKS series, THE APHABET, STRAIGHT STORY, all excellent from start till ending.

  • lynch?

  • I wanna see!

  • someone remember laura palmer ?

  • I spy a red lampshade!

  • no one but Lynch knows what the hell it all means...if anything

  • what a fucking ride this movie is..its like taking some kind of wierd drug..kicks you right at the back of the brain

  • Was this ever in cinema in australia?

  • I haven't seen this film but am open to most films especially the obscure. With all the great comments about the film why do many film reviewers give it the thumbs down?

  • I just watched it tonight. The industry reviewers were correct: this film IS a masterpiece. ["Brain-teasing lychian brilliance" - Sunday Times.

"One of the most fascinating pleasures of this year." - Total Film ]

  • I loved Inland Empire. Though I love how his work looks when he used film, Inland Empire is truly a world of its own.

  • this is from the short film called "rabbits", made since a years a go. its so fucking good!!

  • I have not seen this film. But judging from the trailer it looks great! Great music. Good lighting and really disturbing images. Yeah.

  • ne is klar robert

  • I was once alone walking home through the town a bit drunken after a night in a bar on winter. Laughing alone at all the stupid jokes I heard during that night, wondering about life.

That is the closest experience I've had to watching Inland Empire.
