We all joked that Pink Floyd was my dogs favorite band...and when we finally had her put down, we all got in the car, and this song came on the radio and there was a rainbow in the sky, and to this day I can't listen to this song without tearing up.
There's hope for us humans after all almost 400,000 views. Maybe just maybe good music can and will live on amongst the shrink wraped and neatly packaged garbage we have today.
I am so glad that I got to see them in concert in Pittsburgh, in 1987. I was 15, smoking and drinking all day, getting into trouble, and having the best day and night of my life. What an adventure, and Pink Floyd sounded incredible. I remember very clearly thinking that the conert actually sounded better than the record did. Clean.
Look at those 80's mullets some of the band were wearing.I never had one .Id rather just grow my hair long or cut it short.Nick looked like he had a slight gerri curl fro.
don't join the people that turn away, FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT, LEARN THE TRUTH IN EVERYTHING! FIGHT FOR THE LORD JESUS/YAHSHUA! HATERS CAN HATE AND SEND BACK WHATEVER COMMENTS THEY WANT, SAYING WE CAME FROM MONKEYS, ETC. JUST LOOK AT PLATO'S WORK, HE WROTE IN ONE OF HIS BOOKS, THAT MANKIND ARE ANIMALS AND THE ELITE MEGA WEALTHY ARE gods. look up it!
This song totally makes me thing of Obama and the fast and furious scandal, and how people just ignore facts and follow the media, like blind sheep. justice will never come. Pretty sad whats going on in america today...
Yhere are very true musicains about now. It's seems people are happy to be spoon fed shite. However that's just my opinion if you get the same buzz and feeling from listening to Katty Perry or Gaga then who am i to put you down. I just hope that it's just a phase and we get back to stunning live acts such as Floyd.
@150peacemaker I get goose-bumps from the entirety of the song. I was only 9 when 'A Momentary Lapse of Reason' came out. Today is the 24th anniversary of the this song being released as a single.
@150peacemaker I don't think so... whatever pole you play, you are never wrong... you're just what you are even if you choose this without goosebumps :D
@mudmen1000 I totally agree, I really like this album and Division Bell. It still SOUNDS like Pink Floyd, regardless if Roger had a part in it or not.
During the MLOR tour they filmed at Atlanta also. This could be from that taping. I've seen a few production quality takes from that concert. The dress of the band seems similar to those viewings.
@dcg805 David Gilmour in a 1992 radio interview said they filmed and recorded the Atlanta shows but was not happy at how the shows turned out. Then they attempted again in August of 1988 with Nassau Coliseum and that is how Delicate Sound of Thunder was born. The album was much better live as Nick was playing the drums and Rick was playing the keyboards whereas on the AMLoR album, they were hardly on it. David Gilmour had the great foresight to rehabilitate Mason and Wright back to playing.
its not the best song, but i like it somehow :) and i want to say to someone who said about new cool artists, lets wait if we will hear about them in 3-5 years maybe they are cool. Most new artists appears and disapiears like a full moon, but rare artists stays in heart so long.. Pink Folyd is the best :)
But for some reason right now I'm fascinated by the idea of what Jimmy Page might do soloing to this. Oh yes I absolutely adore Dave Gilmours solo, but it would be interesting no?
we say that the government is corrupt and bad and we complain about it. we say that we should put people who did something good for our society in the lead but that is wrong
Without a bad government we wouldn't have all the great things we have, even music i think is part of that...we wouldn't have/had people like gilmour, lennon, Freddie mercury and many others...true visionaries that showed the best of ourselves through their talent and art
I'm 18 and I only got introduced to Pink Floyd last year. I now consider Pink Floyd to be my favourite band and I now have brought 7 albums (Piper, Atom Heart, Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall, Division Bell) + Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd (when I could easily download it) just because I love good music.
@madisonmosman Cheers! Although I did use to like Katy Perry and that sort of crap (Still think she's a babe, just realised she has no musical talent).
What can be negative about this song? Its about life.Life lived long or short.Doesnt matter.Short lived maybe. But listen if ya will.I hope ya figure it out
Im 37 and i have been to only been to 1 concert in my life and that was yes you guessed it pink floyd it was the division bell damn it was spectacular there is no one that compares to pink floyd hell i was even sober i love to reminess about that night awsome awsome plus i got the ticket fo free..
I think that all music is great ..even the so called "shit " of today..lol...But I will say that the great bands of the 70's and 80's will never return ..and that my friends is Really SAD!!
Whats up with all these children sharing their age and complaining about justin bieber? Just learn to recpect other people's music choices. Have you ever tried sharing your so-called 'good music' with other people?
@Reperkussion That my friend is a very very stupid statement. Go listen to porcupine tree, radiohead, Alot of alt rock independant bands (interpol, arcade fire etc.)
Music Is just as good as it use to be 30 years ago, its just that money takes more of a place in modern day society, which is there fore why all the JB, KP etc crap is only played on the tv, and art gets rejected.
Trust me you'd be surprised of the good bands you can come across these decades.
Reperkussion, dont get it thought, this song is so peaceful and smooth and nice... and what i dont get is how can you still hate while listening to this?
Truly one of the greatest bands ever.Saw them in Pittsburgh at the Civic Arena in the 70's so many good songs and light shows. Best part about this time was tickets were only about $10.00 to $ 15.00 bucks.Today you can't by a beer at these concerts for that. We saw so many great bands back then and now sadly they want to tear the Arena down how sad.
im 14 and i listen to real music like this not the new crap that a lot of people call music, i dont know how they can listen to lil wayne or justin bieber

@Dasha988 , Yep it's narrow minded, but i suppose they 're talking about popular staff. If the signs and symbols of epoch are like Gaga and Perry - it's an indicator of all generation.
@Dasha988 you know, i would have never thought i would listen to modern day country but then i found out that Christian Kane is a country singer....there are people out there that we know (whether from tv, authors, etc.) and are singers and they are really good too.
@chufa72 Oh man I cant agree enough...all the solos they have done at the end of Comfortably Numb, High Hopes etc , in my opinion should have been longer...and so this..
@TurboThrash IMO it was their best album. I don't know why it gets so overlooked compared to their others. From start to finish it is an absolute masterpiece.
@Reperkussion don't think that you're only one. Hundreds of thousands of people like you young people listen to and love Pink Floyd. So respect for you from your commentary from anyone not increase, you're not alone. :\
I hate when teenagers write "I'm so young, and I listen to good music, not the shit that everyone else same as me listen to. So I'm unique!". Idiotic desire to stand out.
Yes, but I do not flaunt it. Respect from adults should not get for what you're listening to music. This man thinks that he is fine, just listening to such good music. But the music does not say anything about you ... I would have said nothing, if it were an isolated incident. But it - en masse, every young man thinks he's the one and almost special, listening to such music. :\
@123CTAC321 Understood. Your English is far better than my Ukrainian. You know how kids tend to mimic the behavior of others. It is true there seem to be lots of kids who make similar statements about popular music from the "golden age". Funny how golden ages only exist in the past. Cheers, peace &c.
Pink Floyd weekend. That's amazing, but unfortunetly since MTV And VH1 are now corporations instead of music channels, we'll never see Pink Floyd weekend again. It's a sad fact.
lucky for listening to this wonderful music till I was 12.. I've started with Queen in 1992, just one year after Freddie passed away, and continued in 1994 with one of the last records of Pink Floyd as my first album of this wonderful band.. The Division Bell
Now I'm 31 and keep listening to pink floyd now and forever..
I hate all of the modern "musical" product by mass media and love creation, talent and good music..
@Reperkussion maybe you should try good 'modern' artists in stead of Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga? Why don't you search for Phantasma Deluxe by Tiamat or Fragile Dreams by Anathema... Ok it's not Pink Floyd but it's kick ass music and not so old...
damn! everytime i hear this song the hair stands up on the back of my neck. To me, this is the song to which a standard will be raised when i write songs. THIS is what music is supposed to be. not a goddamn money generator.
@TheKarpman27 Ha ha! Good point...but I think he uses them for the few occasions when he changes position on the kit, when the other percussionist plays more.....and for some of the bigger endings when he does a 4 drum "roll" thing. Plus it looks good! :)
Nothing like PF to clear your mind. This is one of the best songs ever written, musically and lyrically. Amazing. Nobody is this good anymore. Nobody.
Pink Floyd is easily one of the best bands in the history of the world. David Gilmore is also easily one of the best guitarists

7 don't know what is music...

@123CTAC321 I agree... music is music. you can listen to it at any age.
Thatpyroguy 5 months ago
@123CTAC321 You were young once too, were you not?
acbulgin2 5 months ago
Yes, but I do not flaunt it. Respect from adults should not get for what you're listening to music. This man thinks that he is fine, just listening to such good music. But the music does not say anything about you ... I would have said nothing, if it were an isolated incident. But it - en masse, every young man thinks he's the one and almost special, listening to such music. :\
I apologize for my English, I'm from Ukraine.
123CTAC321 5 months ago

@Reperkussion Well, I'm 55, so no teenager!! :-) I'm so glad to see young people such as you appreciating this music. Peace.
danbeatless 5 months ago
@Reperkussion maybe you should try good 'modern' artists in stead of Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga? Why don't you search for Phantasma Deluxe by Tiamat or Fragile Dreams by Anathema... Ok it's not Pink Floyd but it's kick ass music and not so old...

It's too bad they are all getting old!! I wish they could stay the way they were in the 80's! This was during their peak...even with Waters gone.

@Reperkussion don't hate all new artists... you just don't have to stick with the mainstream only.

damn! everytime i hear this song the hair stands up on the back of my neck. To me, this is the song to which a standard will be raised when i write songs. THIS is what music is supposed to be. not a goddamn money generator.

Why on Earth would Nick Mason ever need TWO bass drums? Is there even a PF song with double bass?
TheKarpman27 6 months ago
@TheKarpman27 Ha ha! Good point...but I think he uses them for the few occasions when he changes position on the kit, when the other percussionist plays more.....and for some of the bigger endings when he does a 4 drum "roll" thing. Plus it looks good! :)

as good as it gets.

Nothing like PF to clear your mind. This is one of the best songs ever written, musically and lyrically. Amazing. Nobody is this good anymore. Nobody.
