In theory, the Gauss Flayer completely outclasses the Pulse Rifle.. Even if it was reversed, I have to ask: Why didn't the Necrons even try to fire?

If the Necron that just been killed is within 6 " from an friendly model then you can throw the dice and on a 4, 5 and 6 he comes back alive in the next turn with one life, but if the throw fails the model is removed from the table.
