I do not refer to Iraq as poor - it is a land rich in history, culture and natural resources. My ancestors are from modern day Iraq. And it was the Babylonians and Assyrians who invented the wheel, democracy and mathematics among many other great things that have made our world what it is today. So in answer to your question it wasnt Islam that created all these. Islam took what the Babylonians and Assyrians invented and expanded it further. Might I also add that Assyrians are all CHRISTIAN.
