  • thank you for your quick response. i am trying to start a mobile phone rental company. if you have any info. i could sure use the help. i don't know where to start except for purchasing the cell phone. Pura Vida!

  • Just moved to CR(Quepos) I have been getting along OK but still some bumps in the road. What kind of business does Mendee own? (been here for 1 month)

  • @magnolia77014 Her and her boyfriend made lamps and bamboo furniture.

  • Just moved to CR(Quepos) I have been getting along OK but still some bumps in the road. What kind of business does Mendee own?

  • ok??? so where can americans work in CR what types of jobs are there??

  • @counselorllc WATCH our video, I think it's called, "Working in Costa Rica..Can you? Legally?" that might answer some of your questions.

  • @iCostaRica24 thanks i saw it, it was great, but i was not planning to open my own business. I am more into counseling couples and adolescents, so I just need some direction in that area, social services/mental health. I dont know where in CR I can find opportunities like those. They must besomone where though, ppl in every country have problems. I may want to relocate after I complete college,,, Thanks again

  • @counselorllc REally, it would be easier if you just started your own business....you're only talking a few hundred dollars.... because you can't get hired here for those skills.... Funny, that's exactly what I used to do when I was in the STATES.....

  • @iCostaRica24 really? omy. so,, CR does not have mental health clinic, couples who need counseling, adolscencts who have behavioral issues? or are these jobs only for Ticos? I will think about th businesss, its just a bit challenging for me as I am not a business person, as I dont even have a business here. But if I had a few hundred dollars couldnt i apply for permenent residency. I read someone where if you invest in CR you can apply for residency, dnt quote me, but it was somethng like that

  • Thank you for your videos. However, you fail to ask about a single, young expat woman's dating experience in CR. I have lived overseas for 3 years now and since I am considering moving to CR, I am very curious about this. I have read articles which state it is great for older men who want younger women (who might take advantage of them for their money). This is how it is in S. E. Asia, and I do not want to relive this nightmare! I would like more than 1 woman's perspective.

  • thats bull there is no such thing as a gringo price!! depending of your look and car that you drive that will be the price that your going to get until you start negociating Im tico, more costa ricans are getting fed up with expats, among their expats they call us natives ''sounds like indigineus uncivilized tribes"most of the expats here are sucking on our social security system, evading CR taxes, distorting CR culture,ETC.we did not ask you to come here go to your perfect USA

  • For all the Costa Rican, please don't take advantages of others, don't do to other what u don't want others to do to you, is really nice to see how people talk good things about your country when you are traveling around the world and they said the have been there and they love it, keep it up, be respectful and carry that pura vida with pride.

  • @jgs150283 I guess you should use those inspirational words to you own people as well! Last time I check my tico countrymen are not even close to be as violent, racist, frausters, scammers, fugitives, rapist as many people in USA,my mom got carjacked at gun point in Florida on a rented car since she was there as a tourist. It happens every where buddy,

  • go home then, to your bankrupt country The US:)

  • @skipdingo1974 These are her perspectives and opinions based on HER experiences here... she's just sharing INFO. chill.

  • @skipdingo1974 you are not tico are u? if you are i shame on you, lol, come on man, dont be mean, we need to keep up our friendship with others, that is the reason why people look at Costa Rica differently, in a good way though.

  • I'm also a woman who has lived in CR now for 3 years - I've watched several of your tubes now, and you guys are totally right on with everything you are putting out here. It certainly validates and echos some of my experiences, (both positive and negative) and i'm glad to see this kind of information getting out there. I wish i had seen this stuff before i got here!

  • @ronicher Yeah, I know we made about every MISTAKE in the book, we couldn't have used Mendee too.....lol THANX for the comment.

  • @iCostaRica24 i am really curious to know how long have you been here, and where are you based?

  • reason is i am starting to think about possibly leaving, like, its been lots of fun, and not without significant challenges, but I don't know if I can keep it going...and with how migracion is now coming down on non residents, its getting more and more like homeland security stuff in the US that I wanted away from

  • @ronicher Yeah,,it is getting more difficult. We're still digging it here, so hopefully we can make it work, but we've seen a lot of people come and go just in the 4-5 years we've been here.

  • this chick is lame, talking about moving to south america - costa rica is like canada compared to the rest of central/south america - its not nearly as bad as this chick makes it out to be- totally weak, costa ricans are some of the nicest people ive ever met, I would rather walk around at night in the dark in costa rica than detroit any day

  • love the videos! keep up the great job! i am also thinking about leaving the U.S. and CR is a prime destination prospect.

  • SWEET, thanx. Don't forget to check OUT Panama and Nicaragua as well.... pura vida

  • Loved the interview, does Mendee have a Youtube page so I can ask her a couple of questions about her travelling and setting up a new life alone? It's kind of a scary thought for someone to have that kind of courage and resoursefulness in a new country. I'll be doing the same and need some tips/advice. Thanks, Happy New Year! David

    davidbeachmedia @ ya hoo

  • @Epazuti No, she doesn't have a Youtube page, but I will pass along your INFO in case she doesn't see it...thanx for the comment.

  • How much is a acre of land their.

  • @passintyme1 I would love to give you an EXACT answer,,,but really, it does depend......the range is wide depending on where you buy......in the town, close to the volcano,,,,a few miles out of town....etc.

  • Also expect to get trained for almost any job you apply for! some can take up to 3 weeks of training or more. And if you stop going to the training. Because let's say you dont like the job (you dont get paid till you finish your training!)

Sport books are great places to work at. They pay in dollars and they pay good! So look into that if you get into a pickle and you cant find a office job.

  • hey iam...thanx for the added INFO...I know people appreciate all the good insight.....

  • My advise to anyone moving to Costa Rica is make sure you have an extra source of income.

As Americans we are used to going out to bars all the time, eating out and shopping. If you get a job there dont expect to get paid top dollar if you speak english (my folks are Tico's so I speak both English/Spanish) Expect to live on a poor mans budget if you get a job there. So be ready for that.

  • very good videos guys

    keep it up!

  • Thanx. Definitely appreciate it.

  • The video is very cool ,,,please stay in CR you are very nice ,,,LOL i am a tico living in CA you there and me here ,,,but i really miss CR

  • thanx for the comment... hopefully you can come and 'at least' visit very soon. I wish I could say I miss the STATES but I don't ..hehe

  • sweet dude, your videos are fantastic

  • mike....jason from winnipeg canada, the wife and i are traveling costa rica in january 2010.You and i my friend must do beers.

  • haha..they're already chill'in on ice....I'll be waiting...

  • don't forget to see part 1... this is a great interview... thanks guys

  • yeah, what he said! lol glad you liked it.

  • Oh gosh! Just what I had been looking for. . .moving to Costa Rica as a single woman alone! I traveled to Costa Rica in 1990 and again in 1991 and I've said every since then that I wanted to move there. I don't have anyone to move there with me (except same as Mendee, two dogs). This was very helpful for me, from buying a house to starting a business. Thanks so much for the insight!

  • Cool..glad it helped. Yeah, Mendee was great, so candid. We got a lot more of these planned.... hopefully, they'll be helpful as well. thanx for watching
