Don't let George get away with that spank him or put him in the corner or whatever you do to a bad bad tortoise i'm gonna have mine bet the crap out of George!
@Bullyarethebest: Do your research, in the wild they survive without the heat lamp because they get their UV from the sun. If you're keeping them inside, which oftentimes people do with youngsters, you need to provide a good UV lamp for the shell to develop properly.
@Herbalist1984: It helps to stop pyramiding because it helps them use the calcium they should be getting from their diet. Just like how Vitamin D helps our body use calcium to build stronger bones.
yes they could survive whit out the uvb light how do u think they survive in the wild dumb ass we have one its 8 years old we nevered use the heat lamp sulcata tortoise are endangered species now
haha... Yeah, people forget that Men didnt create these reptiles and animals... haha... We are not God to the Sulcatas.. They can survive without our help....
@YourLastPatriot Not in cold weather they wont. These come from the hot deserts of Africa. So at winter if its cold they should be provided with heat source, they do not hibernate
lol, mine is 12 years old and weighs 14 pounds, it was his UVB lighting i never got him one, ( so stupid ) . But there is one of his movies above ^^^^^^
nice looking tortoises I am getting one in a few days and there only 1 year what did you feed them mostly when there were young and when they get bigger.
you need to study the husbandry for a while before you even think about getting a sulcata, they are a very demanding animal and if you dont know basic deit questions you should really read some more, sorry if i sound mean, but i see them being mis-cared for so much
