For example, figures state 84% to 96% of Japanese adhere to Shinto and or Buddhism with studies concluded a year later finding a very opposite result. I have marginally looked into this, and i belive that religious practices in Japan must be very different from how Western cultures perceive religion.

The "I don't oppose whaling but..." claim fails because people who are not interested in the subject matter would not have found this video because the title, definition and tags are quite specific.

I'm not denying either way, only bringing it out that there seems to be extreme confusion and difference of opinion about what makes someone religious or not in Japan compaired to Westren views. Maybe a native of the country could explain it to us.

Of the 1,137 residents tested for the study, only 43 surpassed the level of contamination the World Health Organization claims would cause neurological damage. AND no major mercury associated illnesses were found in the subjects, including the aforementioned 43 subjects.

@ednakano1 It's always the same routine for the SSCS supporters. They find a study, accentuate the findings that support their cause, then when people finally read the study and find information that makes the SSCS claims sound dubious and selective, they dismiss the study as "biased" and flawed.
The mercury angle is one of their favorites. They love to try to imply the people that oppose them have been so contaminated with it that they are irrational and should be saved from themselves.

@FreshPotatoMafia That is a very confusing issue for many people, with every one of them conflicting. The vast majority of Japanese follow Buddhism, and Hinduism- roughly half of whom follow both. For example, figures state 84% to 96% of Japanese adhere to Shinto and or Buddhism with studies concluded a year later finding a very opposite result. I have marginally looked into this, and i belive that religious practices in Japan must be very different from how Western cultures perceive religion.
