They're not invasion stripes, thats a Pacific bird. The USAAF started painting those stripes on in late '44 to aid in ID. All P-51s and P-47s at hteh end carried them.
Superb. I never tire of watching and listening to the most glorious of man's machines. Does ANYTHING look or sound better than a P51? I think not. Some day, I hope to go to Stallions51 and fly one.
oh man...the sound of that engine is just so classic...I wish we were still using prop aircraft...jets just dont have any character!

I have flown in this wonderful Mustang, it's one of the most authentic P51s around. A memory that I will never forget.
