Why do people making recordings cut short the applause at the end? Audience response is as important as the performance.

I have literally grown up with this movie. I used to watch it round my nan's house ever weekend when I was younger. I'm 17 yeard old now and still love it. Brings a tear to my eye every time I hear this music. It's just legendary.

E.T was the first movie i ever saw at a cinema, and ive seen it countless times thereafter and it still moves me to tears when i hear this music :)
