No point in nuclear bombs. If one person.... lets say the leader of america sends a nuclear missile to russia, what would be the point in firing back? You are going to die anyway! there is no point in firing back just to kill one person (the leader of america) along with millions of others too. Nuclear bombs defy common sense, even Einstein was sickened because he helped with it.
Yes, it is our first Hydrogen bomb test, conducted on November 1, 1952 at Eniwetok Atoll in the mid pacific. The island on which the device was detonated (Elugelab) was completely vaporized, and a mile wide crater was left in it's place
"It was tested on the ground so they could use certain sensors."
Moron. The Ivy Mike device was "tested on the ground" because it was the size of a house. Ivy Mike was a test of the Ulam-Teller theory of how to initiate a fusion reaction, not a deployable weapon.
Russian engineers derisively referred to Ivy Mike as a "thermonuclear installation".
It was so large mainly due to the equipment needed to maintain the cryogenic Deuterium fusion fuel in the secondary.
It's very worth seeing to stir you out of detatchment or apathy.
Things like that just aren't supposed to happen. It can't be right. The people who make such things prescribe a world where "nothing is right, of course, this just is" prescribing further that their acts are necessary steps to make what's right.
That "argument" is one of the biggest wrongs of all time.
imagine something like this being used against anyone. i'm glad the world saw just how destructive these bombs were during WW2, and hopefully those in power will have enough sense and humanity ever to use them ever again.
@bootsiebanty regardless, neclear weapons of any size, shape, form, composition, deployment, it doesn't matter. the way i see it, we can make bombs for destruction and death or we can make engines for creation and growth.
@sonnychiba77 Actually, World War II ended in 1945, and the Hydrogen Bomb wasn't developed until 1952. these were developed during the Cold War. We used Atomic Bombs during World War I.
@xxxamewarashi don't look for history facts on wikipedia, the atomic bomb was not developed for use until the end of WW2 (II) not 1 (I), and obviously the bombs dropped in ww2 were atom bombs not hydrogen bombs, its just the precident of nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament i'm talking about in general, not for certain types of nuclear weapons.
@sonnychiba77 The ones we used in Japan we're firecrackers compared to this one. This is the Hydrogen bomb here. Not an atomic fission bomb, like the ones used on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Had this bomb here been used instead, Hiroshima and Nagasaki would just be two large craters today.
And we wonder why we have holes in the Ozones

Well, the Ivy Mike device was not as big as a house, but I think it did weigh around 60 tons. It's easy to look up on Web.

Thermonuclear bombs like Ivy Mike weren't developed and tested until 1952, years after WWII.

@sonnychiba77 too bad the only way to get rid of them is to have a modern day Hiroshima or Nagasaki.
