I'd like to add that WMG has claimed copyright on one of my currently public videos, and they did not chose to block the sound completely (the video I mentioned in my previous comment that was geographically blocked), and it is now fully available worldwide (used to be available only in the U.S.). Which shows that they are progressing and allowing older music to start playing (again).

What if you worked all day every day, for several months, on a project and expected to be paid for it, only to have it stolen and you get nothing. Ideally it's the same concept, music/production is all time and effort put in by people, and they would like to be paid for it.

I'm not saying it doesn't suck, as I have had videos that I uploaded which are geographically blocked and/or muted, but that's the way it goes, no sense crying over it.

YouTube uses heat mapping to block songs that claim copyrights (most of which are blocked instantly when you upload them), if he were to just replace the sound with the song it would get blocked again. Not to mention abusing the system will likely get your account deleted and your IP banned from YouTube.

And as far as I can tell you can't upload "sound only" for your videos, you can only upload a new video in its place.

Can't blame WMG/artists for wanting to get paid.
