  • Don't deal on Craigslist unless it's cash in hand. It's very simple. Avoid anything involving movers, checks, shipping, and especially anything overseas.

  • Scam

  • How do we know you even have a fridge for sale to begin with? There are scammers on both sides of many CL ads.

  • The Fake Cashier's Check Scam is all over Craigslist. Don't delete them. That's to good for the worthless pieces of shit. Whacha do is, you pretend you've been fooled. Let the check come to you. Tell the scumfuck you're going to deposit it. Then you let them squirm waiting for it to post. Some banks kick out fakes without posting the sum, others take 10-30 days. The scammer is counting on the check to post. Then tell them the check cleared and you[re wiring the money W.U.

    Waste their time.

  • HOW DID U GET A 2 as the first letter in yuor screen name!

  • LOL glad you didn't fall for this.........I have sold some things on CL to LOCAL people and it was a good experience, but BEWARE of this .......UGH!

    Debbie

  • HA!! I knew Dave wasn't your real name...

Wait a minute....I've heard Jar Jar Binks before, but where?

People actually fall for this kind of thing, I've seen this before.

I've missed many Dave vids, doing a marathon..

  • Wow I'm in the same situation. Someone sent me a check in a UPS envelope and wants me to cash it and send $300.00 to someone else.

  • Don't do it! Over to send it back and see if they get crazy. If that check sees a bank you'll get hit with all kinds of declined check fees.

  • Damn! I want to say so much, but can't. Just that Jar Jar Binks is likely in Nigeria or Ghana and you should have a LOT of fun with them. I would.

  • I believe Cardiff is in Wales

  • Yup, it is. There is one in California too. Live and learn. I should have said UK than maybe I could have slid. hehehe

  • tell her jar jar cashed the check & skipped town. then tell her if she really wants the frig, to come over with real money ;)

  • I'm pretty sure she doesn't want the frig. But I think the check won't make it hear and she'll have to send another. ;-)

  • Good grief Dave! I'm so glad you knew it was a scam. I'm so naive, I may have been fooled. I don't know. So if the bank cashed the check and it was bad, would you be held responsible or the bank that cashed it? Keep us informed. Hugs!

  • Nah, I think you would have thought long and hard before you sent $2100 to a total stranger.

  • Oh yea. I put a ad for my nieghbors house to rent then started getting similar responces. Pull ad down coming from another country want to rent the house yada. Oh yea right. Got several of those.

  • I'm not impressed with Craigslist at the moment. I think a sign on a telephone pole might get a better response.

  • Wow, Thats great! for once you have the upper hand

  • I really want to mess up her day. :-)

  • Wow, I love Craig's List, how rotten that some people do that. You ought to write her back that the FBI came to your door with the UPS package and now they are investigating her lol.

    Hugs,

    Joanie

  • I'm not entirely sure she/he is on this side of the planet. I doubt she cares or even knows how to spell FBI. :-)

  • The only good thing about craigslist is the rants and raves section, you can see just how truly ignorant your neighbors are!

That check isnt real, Jarjar Binks would never do that! Hesa gonna commit check fraud? LOL Fuck with them if you can:-)

  • the thing is there are offices of people paid by commision to do all this work, big money can be made for fools who fall in the trap

what a shame, send them to prison hahaha

    SPRINKLES

  • They will never go to prison, the best we can hope for is

    flagellation at high noon!

  • beating as a source of erotic or religious stimulation

whipping: beating with a whip or strap or rope as a form of punishment

but flagellation ould be preformed in the prisons

    SPRINKLES

  • Dont you think those guys in prison get enough sexual stimulation, it should be in public for all to enjoy:-)

  • nothing wrone with a little new meat !

and any of them will be new to the high walls LOL

  • Spoken like a true criminal! LOL

  • I'm going to have to check out the rants and raves. I already know I have ignorant neighbors. :-)

  • I hate craig's list. Like, loathe it. I'm leary of all those sights, ebay and crap, but craig's is just the pits.

  • eBay I've never had a problem with but I've only ever used Paypal so all transactions are protected. But Craigslist is turning out to be useless.

  • That is a lot of excitement over a used refrigerator.. LOL

  • Yeah, and this is the third time too. We just didn't let it get this far the other 2 times.

  • This person must think no one knows of this scam! LOL Yeah, play around with it and get them really riled up. It should be fun. I got an email this week asking me if I could do something like that, but I deleted it before I goofed on them...afraid of the Russian mob! Let us know!!

  • The first emails were so scripted. I quoted the text and put it through google and got the exact same message sent to lots of other listers. I guess if you do this 20 times, all you need is one sucker a week and you'll be making out pretty good.

  • I swear after you said "Heeellllooo" in that 'accent' I was waiting for "I'm Snidely Whiplash" - please tell me you know what I'm referring to! :)

Oh Sharon, you know not who you tangle with...

I was noticing on Jar Jar's check that the routing and account numbers ran together without a " ; " between them...is that normal? Idk - but I never saw that before.

Come closer said the spider to the fly...mmmwaaahhh - you got yourself a new toy!! ;)

  • Does "Here I come to save the daaayyyy" sound familiar? :-)

  • Wasn't thinking of anything in particular when I did the hello but I always did like Penelope Pitstop.

Yup, the routing number is right. Its got the check number the bank route and an account number all in the line. I'm used to seeing the check number at the end though, not the beginning. ? ?

  • HaHa. Nice try Sharon...

  • I'll see how long I can string her out.

  • haha good for you for working out their scheme :)

(I'm afraid Cardiff is in Wales not England)

  • Yea, I found that out. I should have said UK and bluffed it. There's another Cardiff in California too.

  • Hey Jar Jar Binks,

Im gonna take a wild stab in the dark and say that something is FISHY...

I can't wait to hear what the real McCoy is on this story...mmmm hmmm

  • I'm surprised the check doesn't have fins. :-)

  • haha omg! It's great that you're playing with her, those damn scammers!

I have sold a few things locally on craigslist. I always talk to the buyer on the phone before hand, they have to come pick it up in person and I take cash only.

  • Out of 5 hits on the frig, 3 of them were scams like this. I'll keep putting it back in but its going to be cash and that's that.

  • My step-mother was trying to get into secret shopping/mystery shopping for local stores. The company sent them a check from the SAME bank (SNB) for $2,400. This money was supposed to cover all of the shops that she was suppose to do. Found out that the check originated in Canada and was 100% fraudulent.... Doubt you'd even be able to cash it. LOL..

Good luck, though.. ready to hear what else happens.

  • I'm not taking that check anywhere near a bank. I might frame it and hang it on the wall for a conversation piece. hehe

Damn, was your mom out any money or just time?

  • cant wait to hear the updates!

    xoexo

  • and there are ... oooo the suspense. hehehe

  • ROFLMAO only you would torture a scam artist! This is very entertaining! I love it!

    Hugs!

    Lori :)

  • I'm an equal opportunity torturer. I do it with everybody. hehehe

    Is today Yard sale day?

  • Yes, I just posted a vlog about the yard sale! It is over! WOOT!

  • Your my new hero. Way to go Dave...not gonna git anything on you. Oh boy.... can't wait to see how this one plays out. :-D

  • I'm pretty gullible but I'm not stupid... much. :-)

  • LOL @ Jar Jar Binks :)

Isn't it interesting that it starts in England or Canada, but yet involves Florida, Washington, Texas and Pennsylvania.

I can't believe they'd go through the expensive of sending things UPS overnight! Hmm you're right. Poor company is getting billed for that nonsense.

Fun stuff. Keeps you from getting bored!

  • I think English is a second language for this one. The more flustered they get, the worse the English gets. That's the only thing, the company paying $32 for overnight shipping. But then, they shouldn't be put their number out there on the net.

  • I had a woman try and sell me a puppy off of Craig's list she did not state that the puppy was over sea's in the add and wanted me to go to the airport and pay for a airline fare so the puppy could be shipped to me. She gave me a email address to her local airport just the run around I just thought wow this has got to be a scam. People will go to any links to rip somebody off it's sickening.

  • Oh wow. You would have been paying for something but I doubt you ever would have got a puppy out of it.

  • Oh yea, go ahead, cash that check....what could possibly go wrong?!!! LOL!!! Thanks, Ang

  • I know right! Maybe I can 3rd party cash it at a gas station for a candy bar. lol

  • Dang sweetie...go ahead and buy a new car!!! Again...What cood possibly go wrong...LOL!! Love ya, Ang...btw..another cool pen coming your way soon...
