This guy comes on The Ed Sullivan Show and starts playing a big piece of cardboard and the song works. Something that simple and the guy had a hit song. The 60's -- what a creative time. Harris was a big TV personality-singer in Australia & his follow up to this song was a brilliant rocker called "Ringo For President." It was terrific. A real shouter and audience participation song. I have not said where I live. I did live in Australia in the 1970s, working from NSW to WA, and spent time again in 2006 and 2010. Race relations types have stolen the word "ethnic" to mean non-white, when (from the Greek) it just means relating to race. "Ethnic minority" does not mean non-whites, it means any race less than fifty percent. "Ethnic native" is meaningless.
