I was walking in the park when I was 7 and I found an egg on the ground. I took it home and put it in a cage. Nobody thought it would hatch. Well, to everyone's surprise, it did hatch. It was a baby musk turtle. We put it in a pond outside with screen on top. Well, someone forgot to put the screen back on, and a raccoon ate my turtle. :'(
i have 2 red eared sliders in a large tank for them and i need advice. Why do they like to be destructive sometimes and they like to dive off of their fake rock and platform. Why?
@HannahPoliana17 All aquatic turtles will destroy an nicely decorated setting. They are only following instinct though. Digging up the gravel and plants is how they forage for food in the wild. They will also move things around because they like to hide under stuff. This setup show here has been destroyed by the musk/mud turtle already. I have given up trying a setup to my liking and instead allow the turtle to do what it wants because no matter how nicely I plant things, she digs them up.
@zztop5911 perfectly good question! Their blood can store more oxygen than ours and many other animals. They also have a slower metabolism. The musk turtle seen here does surface to breathe ever so often but when he does he just barely sticks his nostrils out of the water for a moment then goes back down. Sorry about that other thing. Replied under another account.
Do you have a heat and UVB lamp for the Red Eared Slider, and a basking dock? Cause the turtle needs it, it's not fully aquatic like the Common Musk (stinkpot musk).
Nice video I just got a baby red ear slider yesterday it's so fun to hold them but Wht would you recommend when they get like bigger mins a female I don't know Wht to do but luckily I have a couple yEARS to figure the out
@gusfish1 The musk turtle, No. I have had some fish die on me and the musk will eat the carcass, but while they are alive, they are left alone. The red-ear slider however will started to attack them once he reached a size larger than the fish. He has long since been relocated.
@FixieFixedGear Got the stinkpot turtle at a reptile expo, and the little red ear from a playground. I only took the red ear to observe for a few months before returning him to the creek that is near that playground.
Hey, very nice aquarium!! I have a couple of questions if you do not mind :) How many gallons is that tank and do you have/need a docking station for those turtles? If so what kind of lighting etc do you need? Also what type of fish are those and do the turtles snap at them? Last question lol! Have they destroyed your setup or is it still intact? Thank you, the reason for my questions is because my and I are currently shopping different set ups for a similar aquarium.
how are you able to have the turtles and fish together without attacking each other?? have they ever attacked each other? what kind of fish are they??
@charlieRM85L probably a 55gallon asap. Thats the smallest I would go for two musk turtles. The sooner, the better, because more space catalyzes a faster growth rate.
i got 2 baby musk turtles about a month ago and i dont think i have the right things for them. i have a light on the lid of the tank which gives out heat and is quite bright, i have a thin tube about 6 inches long wich is a heater and is underwater and i have a filter at the sidee with a sponge not very big. a little dock for them. i only have a small tank about 18 inches long and about 12 inchest high and about 8 inches at the sides. i want to get a 20-40 gallon tank for when they are older.
you need a UVB bulb and make sure you don't have a glass top.some plants will look great in the tank and the turtles love them also make a video of your tank so people can twll you what you need to do to improve your tank.any other questions please ask me i.
The musk turtle bothers no one, but the red ear slider will as it grows bigger. I cannot keep him in this aquarium for too much longer. Out of everything in there, it is the bichir that is the most aggressive. It won't let others near it aside from the African leaf fish, but I don't know why there is this exception.
It is a gray bichir. It is also called a dinosaur bichir in some pet stores. Despite what it looks like, it is not really an eel, but a fish or sorts.
When most people post videos of their aquariums they show off an uninteresting video. You put together beautiful music and displayed a wonderfully crafted fish tank with great shots. Great work!
ye you have a nice tank (i have a massive tank but its a total mess at the moment and i need to do a 50% water change sometime soon and its a 900 liter tank so its no easy to too --- i have a filter but turtles are dirty animals and water is getting dirty ---

It is a baby red-ear slider. They are cute when young, but they grow fairly fast and are soon too big to be kept in a normal household aquarium.
Very acrobatic in the water though, interesting to watch.
