  • this is a crazy scene right here

  • love when will gets emotional I get emotional too :)

  • Thats not funny

  • @mrM49318 its not supposed to be

  • Comment removed

  • So emotional

  • This scene has me crying every time!

  • Sad scene... sadly it was recorded with a toaster! lmao

  • in this scene Will was suppose to walk out and leave but he changed it.

  • I cry everytime. I'm so glad my parents love me and are in my life. I am glad that in this show Uncle Phil stepped in to be a great father figure for Will. So many children need a father figure in their life...

  • Haven't seen my dad in over 5 years now, barely before that, I email him every so often but I rarely get a decent reply...he forgot how old I was on my 16th birthday, and he got the wrong date last year ( he sends cards)...it's hard to describe the feeling of hating someone, but at the same time, loving them...this made me tear up

  • Not gonna lie, when I first saw this I broke down in tears... so thankful both my parents were and still are in my life!

  • ........its about to go DAOOOWWWNNNN

  • I see my father maybe once every year. We talk sometimes too. I love him. But I don't expect anything more from him. He is who he is. Needless to say, the episode messed me up. Great acting.

  • @cowmagnet Well I hope you know you'll do better without a father figure like that. Not that he even deserves that title. I wish you all the best in the future - I know you'll do yourself proud.

  • Phenomenal acting. Really.

  • You too, Lou.

    OUCH.....

  • 240p we meet yet again....

  • shit got real

  • My dadz iz the same way. And it makes me say like kanye. Its bittersweet i dont want you, but i need you. I luv ya nd hate ya at the very same time. I luh ya dad.

  • best episode

  • ohhh shit

  • And then he named his daughter Willow.

  • will smith is win

  • Thumbs up if you almost or did cry watching this. (I almost, this was some real shit here)

  • I hate that deadbeat asshole.

  • crying here

  • Will's emotions in this video was all real. He did this all from his heart. I hope y'all understand how beautiful this scene is.. All his emotions. All his words.. Completely real.

  • I totally feel where Will comin from. But you gotta forgive and move on..

  • what was the name of this episode?

  • @97murfy I think it's called 'The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air Clip: Will’s Father Rejects Him'

    not sure.

  • @97murfy "Papa Got A Brand New Excuse"

  • THIS WAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE FRESH PRINCE EPISODE.

  • @DrSanto91 so you want your siblings or your partners siblings to be deadbeats?

  • the 'man' that made me fucked off when i was young so i really relate to this..

  • This was 100% real. Wills dad left him and his mom when he was little. In the actual show he was supposed to just walk off. That hug was real the emotion was real. None of this was in the script. They kept it this way because it was do powerful. Will has been through so much and I love him for that. -3

  • @overgiggle Bullshit. His dad didn't leave.

  • "You, too... Lou."

HA! Suck on that, deadbeat motherfucker...

  • After I saw this, Will Smith became one of my favourite actors of all time. He says everything that Ive said in my head a thousand times over in my head about my own unknown father and puts it absolutely perfectly. Definitely one of the most powerful scenes I've ever seen in my whole life and connects on an almost identical, personal level to my own circumstances. Great job will.

  • black chicks LOVE this shit- SuperEeego

    hahaha

  • this reminds me of my life, except it was my mom who left me

  • Jeeze, even seeing the thumbnail to this makes me tear up.

  • Who is cutting all of these onions right here at my desk?!

  • Made me cry..

  • :(

  • This video almost made me cry, I feel the same way about my dad.

  • @SamXXemo

    i'm here for you

  • Anybody else want a hug from James Avery

  • My dad skipped out when I was around 6 months, decided he didn't want the responsibility anymore of a wife and child cause he was only 18. He popped in every now and then, but eventually it was yrs between contact. Mom always offered for me to see him, but never worked out. He'd make promises about getting me something or going somewhere but never followed through. I'm 26 now, and just recently found I have two half sisters, 1 1/2 & 4 mos. Just makes me wonder why I wasn't good enough.

  • @dookie4life04 Well you still made it with him. Good luck to you your mom sisters, and even your dad.

  • tv nowadays is slacking.

  • same guy who played chiken gorge in roots

  • what episode and season was this on?

  • my niece's dad is a dead beat...

  • too bad Will Smith sucked Quincy Jones dick to get on this show (literally) it's a hollywood illuminati thing - research the gay agenda

  • @bestonlineguide Dude how old are you to still be babbling about the illumanati.

  • @jonisafreak3 so the older i get the less im going to talk about the people who control our society (your life)

  • @bestonlineguide Alright well yes there are people who are in control of our lives more then others but not to the extent your thinking of. Like yes people run the world but the Illuminati is just completely bullshit. I dont know why everyone obsesses over that. Its known that there are few people who control the world but not these crazy fucked up bastards. Fucking karl marx started the whole theory.

  • @bestonlineguide I wouldn't doubt it.

  • @bestonlineguide I wouldn't doubt it.

  • @bestonlineguide

Keep typing. One day you will get lucky and type something intelligen. Dumbass.

  • @bestonlineguide lols, they don't exist

  • Was This Supposed To Happen ?

  • Was He Really Crying And Angry ?

  • freaking sad

  • I'm so glad that Uncle Phil didn't let Will's hat ruin this beautiful take.

  • sad part :(

  • I remembered that scene very clearly. I watched "Fresh Prince" from the first to the last episode here in Brazil. Wonderful show.

  • Something about this scene gets me to shed a few tears every time I watch it.

  • The studio audience is STUNNED into silence. I love this and it always makes me cry :)

  • dead beat parents shouldn't be parents at all

  • Damn, man. This scene always chokes me up. My father (like many others) wasn't there for me. He died on Feb. 4th 2011. This scene also showcases Will's talent.

  • @GrinningGoku But you are still and can still make a difference, R.I.P to your father.

  • what episode is this?

  • Ah crap. I teared up...

  • quality acting

  • after i saw this will smith is my faverate actor

  • So sad

  • this episode made will smiths career

  • 5 people must be dead beat fathers

  • IDGAF WILL SMITH IS THE BEST ACTOR EVER IN FILMS OR TELEVISON SERIES

  • the how come he don't want me man line is a question that every young man that is growing up without a father ask them self.

  • i cry everytime....not everytime, but EVERYTIME!!!!

  • just the two of us of us...cmon hay hay were goin to the beach, grab a couple of toys and let dadda strap u in the car seat/ oh what's that smell? dadda musta runned over a skunk, and dont worry bout mama, she's takin a little nap in the trunk lol

  • @pervertedpenguin69 Lmao..you stupid!!

I told you it's okay HaiHai, wanna ba-ba?

    Take a night-night? Nan-a-boo, goo-goo ga-ga?

    Her make goo-goo ca-ca? Da-da change your dia-dee

Clean the baby up so her can take a nighty-nighty

  • @STONRUNNIT Slim Shady ftw!

  • will smith hands down top 3 best actor

  • "how come he don't want me" gets me every time

  • I always cry, at this episode

  • @Adi0Hart I did it yesterday that I saw it :(

  • Jesus, WIll Smith, you are awesome.

  • never really understood this until I had a kid. If I ever did that to my little 1 year old girl I'd never be able to live.

  • i am gonna have a nephew and he has a dead beat dad, and i hope i can be father a figure to my nephew like uncle phil.

  • @DrSanto91 finally my nephew is born, thanks for the thumbs up everybody.

  • @DrSanto91 Repect..... Lots of it.

  • @DrSanto91 Be the best you can be for him man, good luck.

  • Manly tears were shed....

  • Screw that! If I ever get to have any kids, I ain't ever leaving them. I can't imagine how'd be like for your son or daughter--your own flesh and blood, curse you for your cowardice!

  • Damn Das Sum Good Fuckin Actin...

    I Tear Up EveryTime!!

  • @5starstunna15 Your'e exactly right. Every single time!

  • Will was actually supposed to play it off and then walk away, and there was originally an alternate scene that was supposed to happen, but he actually completely cut out what was supposed to be said, and did all of his own dialogue. The hug at the end of this scene is completely genuine, and this was a stepping stone in Will’s career where he started to take on the “do what feels, sounds, and looks right” approach to his acting.

  • Coming from the heart, I tear up every time I watch this because I can relate. But it makes me strive to be the best father I can be because I don't ever want my daughters to experience this kind of pain.

  • uncle phil was the real father in will's life

  • this makes me cry everytime expecially when i found out that most of his speech was from the heart

  • I called it 10 years ago. After this episode I told my mom that Will Smith is going to be the best actor of my generation. And wasn't I right?

  • This scene is so sad regardless I it's scripted. Many people commenting are saying it came from will's heart, this is truly how his father treated him. I just believe you can't watch this and not feel any sadness or empathy towards this. Especially when this same shit happened to you, to many father out there exactly like this. My father left me when I was 6 weeks old, so fuck whatever he has to say about walking out on me.

  • 5 people grew up with a dad.

  • this is the greatest acting i've ever seen.

  • I teared man......

  • Thumbs up if you teared up

  • My mother walked out on us when I was 2 years old. I spent my whole life struggling with the same thought that was expressed in the last line. It hurts, but you have to move on and show them that it's their loss, not yours. I grew up without my mother, but with the support of my wonderful grandparents and father. It took a long time to realize, but if I made it this far without her, I don't need her.

  • @pixie3690 Good for you. Your very strong. I can't understand why some parents leve their kids, it's disgraceful.

  • 4+ people are dead-beat fathers

  • the part when will starts talking about him wasn't rehearsed. and the hug wasn't either.

  • I can't imagine not being part of my kid's life, I just don't get it. How can you have a kid out there that you helped create and not love it. Just seems like a natural instinct to love your kid.

  • This Is A REAL TV Show, No Show Out There Has Comedy And Drama Like The Fresh Prince, Am I Right Or Not? This SHow And Boy Meets World Were The Best!

  • @DaMoonWalker12 Oh my god, yes. Those two tv shows were the only shows that could mix comedy and drama perfectly.

  • my dad grew up without a father. when my dad found out that his girlfriend was pregnant, he stuck by her side because he refused to be llike his dad. now he has five children and he is in every last one of our lives. he is a better father than his dad ever was.

  • every one check my channel for a Remix of this!! its Great go look now!!

  • This is STILL easily one of the saddest scenes in television history. I don't care what anybody says, you can NOT watch this and not feel at least somewhat depressed afterwards.

  • This shyt happened to me.

  • I cant imagine anybody walkin out on there kid the selfish thing they can do

  • It makes me cry im blessed to have a father i dont know your guys pain but it just goes to show your troopers for goin through life in this pain people who dislike dont know the value of life this episode was meant for these people doesnt matter about acting

  • 02:17 Uncle Phil's face... This scene was perfect, and one of the best scenes of all time

  • What series and episode is this?

  • @WaunGronChampion Season 4 "Papa's Got A Brand New Excuse"

  • @JPPraterCO08 Thank you :)

  • Man this still makes me cry will smith always make me tear but I'm not gay

  • @TheMrdraler

come here, leme hold u, no homo.

  • I cried so much

  • This scene was a defining moment in Will Smith's career and made him a viable lead role to this day.

  • And 3 people are heartless shits who have no emotions.

  • I loved this episode so much. I wish this was still on Nick at Night.

  • The messed up thing is that so many of us relate to this scene, but growing up how many of us had any friends that honestly understood how much this fucks with your head? I'm 23 and I still don't have any friends that can understand, but that anger pushed me through every swim meet and every exam when I was in high school

  • I swear i watch this every night. Everything about what happens in this scene is the story of my life. "why doesnt he want me?"..

  • "You too.... Lou."

    Ouch.

  • This and the episode when Will gets shot is when everyone in America knew that Will Smith could act. I always thought Will was a better actor than comedian.

  • :'(

  • its so many kids who feel his pain -- felt it then && still do now. I'm one. I know plenty more. It made me cry when I saw it air originally -- still makes me tear up now. to all you part time parents who think you can walk in and out of your kids lives - FUCK YOU. it hurts more than you think

  • Yoooo. I cried like a beoootch when I saw this the first time. lmao

  • THERE SHOULDN'T EVEN BE A DISLIKE BUTTON FOR THIS VIDEO

  • Queers

  • my son's father was mia for most of his life, but he became a wonderful man without him he is a great husband and a even greater dad to his 3 daughters!!

  • the fact that hes not even acting in this makes it so much more emotional :(

  • my life.

  • whats the episode name pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • @Leeeeeeeeeeeeeee25 Papa's Got A Brand New Excuse.

  • "how come he don't want me, man?"

    ohhhh goddd :'((

  • Actually, Will went off script with most that dialogue. It was mainly how he really felt, so that's why uncle Phil looks sorta speechless at that one point.

  • @iiLulu10 Where'd you hear this?

  • @iiLulu10 That's a lie though.

  • @iiLulu10 You guys should read up once in a while.

" Smith credits his father's dedication when discussing his own involvement in the lives of his three children: "I look at my father and how he was able to keep four kids fed and clothed and still managed to find time to spend with us." "

  • @asslber haha my bad. mistakes happen, folks.

  • @iiLulu10 The really funny thing is that for Will growing up in real life, it was the complete opposite as to what is happening in this scene. :P

  • @iiLulu10 Everytime I see this, I think of this comment

    Tears, every fucking time..

  • @saia100 bahaha, glad to entertain. *takes bow*

  • THEN THE MUSIC COMES IN AND ....... YeEeAhHhH YeEeAhHhH

  • @beneaththeroses Omg, after bawling at this scene I read this comment LMFAO thanks I'm cracking up.

  • Made me cry when I saw how it ended. I can relate except for the fact that my pops never came back into my life. I never knew him or what he looked like. Moms told me he ran out when she told him she was pregnant. All I want is to see what he looked like and ask why he left us and why couldn't accept his responsibilites as a man and an expecting father. Other than that I don't want him in my life. Like Will said to hell w/ him

  • Yeah this one still gets me teary eyed at 24 yo

  • this episode always made me cry so much and in a weird way that makes it one of my favourites, they never play it on tv tho so i'm so glad i've been able to watch this bit again x
