Before the war, my dad buzzed Oakland military air field's control tower with a Staggerwing because it was faster than anything they had at the field at the time and he knew they wouldn't catch him. He said that as he approached the tower exactly as this flyby did, he could see 3 guys in the tower running back and forth in a panic. I would have loved to be with him. He said that after he flew by and went up the Livermore valley at high speed, he ignored all attempts they made to call him LOL!

It is awesome to see this. My grandfather would use this plane to buzz his house many times over the years. He'd always talk about it and I was sorry I was too young to remember it. Now, because of this, I am able to see it! Thanks so much for posting all these videos and other photos of this on the internet. I sent the links from all your videos to many family members of mine.

I think the staggerwing is the most beautiful plane ever made. Go to the staggerwing museum in Tennessee, if you have the chance.

It is me. Tell your grandfather hello. Yes he owned this plane from 1955 until 1972.
