@mrbit10 ahh. so the multiplier of an Intel Core i5-2400 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz (3.4GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor would be 4, right?
i cant be stable over 241 mhz and x13 multiplier with my AMD athlon II 620 2.6ghz x 4....is that normal ? should i raise the CPU voltage cause those settings are at default voltage..
what do u mean by incrimentaly? like set VCore to the next value and save and restart and keep doing until i get an error? please reply, im a new born overclocker
@benzipz google for new bios driver and hope u can overclock also dont talk about i7 870 lmao like its good its trash i hope u dident buy that processor for gaming lmfao
@ikameozero erm all I7's are similar just diffent model numbers the reason they do this is so people go out and buy the most expensive therefore aparantley the best but they all run the same way ?
Hi, just wondering, if a motherboard (Gigabyte GA-p67A-UD3R) says in the specs for the memory 1.5V @ 2133/1866/1600/1333/1066MHz, in the BIOS, will it give me an option to adjust the voltages? Because the RAM I'm getting runs at 1.65V @ 2000MHz however the MB says 1.5v and the max safe voltage for the sandy bridge cpu is 1.8v (I have read), so I was just wondering if I could run it at say 1.75V if possible or will it be limited to 1.5v? Thanks, great video by the way
hey please help me on how to overclock my intel E5200 processor on ASRock G31M-VS motherboard......i have 3GB DDRII ram and 80 GB? hard disk installed and nvidia 6200tc graphic card.
@sonuviraj instead of overclocking that peice of 1980's trash get a new m board new processor and more ram ull see a big improvment cos those u have are a joke
how can i make my computer ues the whole ram .i have 4 gig ram and even when i'm gaming super heavy games, instead of using the whole ram it just crashes.
lmaoe 4 gig of ram sadly is nothing at all unless your running 4 gigs of dominator corsair even then 4 is not enough nowadays for latest games u need 8 gigs get corsair stop useing cheap ram and it wont crash
@SkulLzSouL Not needed to increase voltages if your pc does not crash, if it crashed then up the voltage a little bit not for too much(higher voltages= more heat).
To test if your pc runs faster clock the Cpu back to stock and run benchmark like 3dmark06 see what scores you get. After that then just OC the cpu and do benchmark again and you should see higher scores I hope i helped lol :D
@eskon12345 oc the cpu wont getting a higher result in 3dmark06 and i have tested it, but getting a greater graphic card will boost the fps in 3dmark i think.since i using fucking ati radeon x1650 my fps in 1st graphic test 3dmark only at 5 ~ 12 fps... T_T
Regarding voltage for everyone asking... Follow what this gentleman says. Anything over 1.4-1.5 Volts on a new (and older) Intel CPU's is highly risky. I have an i7 860 overclocked to 3.2 GHz with a X21 multiplier. It runs on full-load (Crysis, STALKER, Prime95 etc...) with a temp of 55-60* C. Like he said do it slowly and in increments. If you can't change your voltage on the BIOS you by definition can not overclock... The whole point is to jack up the Volts thus gaining a higher frequency.
i have a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz and i was wondering if i can overclock it to 3 ghz without messing with the voltage at all
@MrMurad1234 it should tell u when ur on the load up screen, it's ussaly Delete key (not the back space one) or f8 or f1 those keys... depending on what motherboard u have
So is this settings basic for all overclocking CPUs. Currently I can afford a laptop with AMD Sempron 2.1ghz I want to get it at least 2.7-3.0Ghz.. The processor has a front side bus of 800mhz and 512KB L2 cache. Is it possible to do it on a laptop?
can i overclock my cpu by leaving the front bus the same and increasing the multiplier..i have a dual core e 5400 @ 2.7 but the bios shows 1.7...the mulitplier is set @ 8.5 and bus is set at 200.....i increased the multiplier to 13 and left the buss @ 200 which i got 2.7 in the bios..the system is running good...did i accomplished anything or should i leave the multi-@ the orignal 8.5 and increase the buss instead pls help!!!
On December 24,2006 at 8 o'clock in the morning, a young 14 year old boy by the name of Scott Jackson was found dead.Doctors couldn't come up with the cause of his death. His mother checked his emails to see if she could figure out what happened.Turns out he was still signed into myspace. She found he had gone to sleep after he read and didn't repost a chain letter.if you don't repost this to 6 videos a girl with no face will kill you tonight. sorry don't wanna die
anyways you probably know much more than I do,and i'd be glad to have your insight, here's my problem:
I'm on a x58 board with a bloomfield model processor, currently i'm stuck with a last stable clock of 210mhz x 21. what is the effect of the clock skew and would manipulating the skew push the current clock rate?
Also, most processes only use 4 out of 8(with hyperthreading) of the logical cores, is there a way to force utility on all 8 cores?
using a multiplier against the clock will increase the clock rate. Say your multiplier is 8 and clock 400 = 3.2Ghz. You cannot force equal use of the cores, that is governed by how the software is written, especially to have concurrency and run in parallel. In other words the software would have to be written to use all the threads into the cores.
I am just about to build a system with i7 930 , Asus Pt6 Premium mobo, 6gig 1600 ram, and a Haf 932 case, with lots of Air Flow.
do you have any suggestions for me, on how to over clock my sysytem for the fastest perfeormance, I manily use photoshop Cs4 and video editing programs.
I am very new to all of these, so any help would be appreciated.
I have a Celeron D E3200 from 2.4 Ghz to 2.8 Ghz, but only so little because I got a G41 motherboard, so my overclocking options are limited. It can't go stable higher than 2.8 Ghz. Just bumping it up to 3.06 Ghz makes prime fail at about 10 minutes.
u dont do anything. that because big manufacturers like HP, DELL, etc DONT want customers to change their PC's in any way. they make it either impossible or very difficult. why? first and foremost COST. secondly - they want you to BUY the next best thing from them, not make it yourself. thirdly - most people are not tekgods, therefore most advance features are made unavailable to them (mostly for their safety and the machine's). that's why I got sick of DELLs and built my own PC.
Great video! Hey man, would you consider doing a GPU overclocking general runthrough or as thorough as you'd like becuase i'm just starting to get into it and I have a small grasp but a better understanding would be great if you could. Appreciate it if you end up doing one!
@aaf9999 Dude most laptop BIOSes dont have the option to OC because if they if did it would burn up. Even at a relatively small OC. Desktops usually have better airflow then laptops which is way manufactures allow you to push them further then stock clocks
@bradahbob you can! BUT... not recommended! the labtop cooling system is to slow to be able to cool the Labtop, not overclocked! you could get a labtop-cooler but you will not get the effect you want from it, but test the labtop with labtop-cooler... cost around 20$ in Sweden.
@bradahbob dont try to overclock your leptop man dont even try u dont have the cpu cooler u need to and most of the motherboards of leptops do not have the option to do any overclocking
ok i have a question i have yet to have it answered ok i can overclock my amd athlon ii x4 620 2.6ghz to 3.3ghz stock cooler and stable ok all fine and dandy but if i say wanna restart or turn on every once in awhile it wont restart i have to turn it off and on and then it says overclocking failed....do you have any idea why this is??
@tannermiddleton did you up the voltage?if so then id do a stress test and watch the temp,if it gets 55-60C,might wanna think about getting a after market cooler before your fry your stuff
@jmwintenn it seems it doesnt matter what my voltage is and i can go all the way up to 3.38ghz and the temp stock cooler only gets to 62 degrees Celsius and the max for the processor is 71 so im not worried about that
alright(personally id like that a bit cooler),only other thing is id check and see if your mobo has a bios update.........other than that and tweaking the bridges,im drawing a blank.if you OC'd anything else, make sure it's not bottlenecking.if that doesn't fix it,send me a pm and ill direct you to some helpful folks
how do you find out how many cycles your cpu has cuz i want to play mw2 and i have everything i need it just says that my cpu speed is slow and i have 2.60GHz and a preformace rate at 2.6GHz i dont know much about computers so could someone please help me thanks!
its ok man i have done the remove/install of cmos battery...(: but then on one day i was playing games and suddenly the monitor blacked out and i cant on pc...my dad said tat my mobo has exploded... :( now im using a very slow pc...thnx anw :D
Dude let me tell you how much i enjoyed this video. Your like the only level headed dude ive seen so far.Your not one of these 12 yr old geeks that think they know everything about everything and when you try to tell them different they blow a shit fit!!! And you explain things really good. Later.
Simply because the Bios isn't made by Microsoft !!! There are some companies that build a generic bios and then sell it to the motherboards producers that will modify it for their hardware. This is because all bios screens seem equal!
Hi! I need some help... I cant get into the bios menu, because when i hit delete on startup it ask for a password witch i dont know what is, so is there a way to find out what the pass is??
you can clear the bios password, by taking off the jumper during startup and the pulling the power cord. google how to clear the bios password, if you dont know what the jumper looks like
i tried to overclock my laptop. It blowed up and scared me so i went screaming on street when it went "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM". NUCLEAR MUSHROOM!!! DELICIOUS!!!
Watch the whole video. He says use prime 95 or orthos. Then just let them run for a few hours. It will stress your cpu and make sure it can sustain it's overclock. I personally use prime 95.
guys i got the E1500 Dual Core 2.2Ghz i want to overclock it to 2.4 or 2.6 but if i overclock it to 2.4 i need to get higher the voltage? cuz some one tell me that if i get higher the volt... the processor will have less life time
I think that would cause additional temperature so you should have a really good cooling system. but, I son't know if I'm right. Don't know much about this...
you can overclock using stock air cooled but not very much and I would not risk raising the voltage, you can play with the cycles and see if it holds within the stock voltage settings.
question? I have been trying to figure out this computer for sometime now trying to get it to run good. I had a major problem when it didn't want to start up and run through the checks. then I figure that out, now for booting I have to hit F1. how do I bypass that??
My home isnt air-conditioned & I live in south TX. Do you think that my RAM & CPU could be getting hotter because of it being around 90 F. in my home? Maybe I should underclock. ??????
If you don't know EXACTLY what your doing then I'd advise you DON'T OC and just deal with the speed that you have and/or upgrade to a new cpu. And to answer your question, as i know of, no there isn't.
I still dont get how to overclock my intel pentium E2180
I have a dell Inspiron 530 and it is 2.00Ghz I want to overclock it do you know how can I do that?

ok i have a question i have yet to have it answered ok i can overclock my amd athlon ii x4 620 2.6ghz to 3.3ghz stock cooler and stable ok all fine and dandy but if i say wanna restart or turn on every once in awhile it wont restart i have to turn it off and on and then it says overclocking failed....do you have any idea why this is??
tannermiddleton 2 years ago
@tannermiddleton did you up the voltage?if so then id do a stress test and watch the temp,if it gets 55-60C,might wanna think about getting a after market cooler before your fry your stuff
jmwintenn 2 years ago
@jmwintenn it seems it doesnt matter what my voltage is and i can go all the way up to 3.38ghz and the temp stock cooler only gets to 62 degrees Celsius and the max for the processor is 71 so im not worried about that
tannermiddleton 2 years ago
alright(personally id like that a bit cooler),only other thing is id check and see if your mobo has a bios update.........other than that and tweaking the bridges,im drawing a blank.if you OC'd anything else, make sure it's not bottlenecking.if that doesn't fix it,send me a pm and ill direct you to some helpful folks
jmwintenn 2 years ago
wow... this works but the leds on my system turned bright red and it spins at about 6000rpms so i had to keep it at minimum 50 and max... 80

johnyrockshell 2 years ago
yes, just reset the cmos, sets ALL bios options back to default
ihaveadogandheisfat 2 years ago 3
great video dude it really helped me alot.
oweerlord 2 years ago
is there a way u can change back to default setting if u overclock it wrongly?
DanD3vil 2 years ago
asus has 'crashfree bios', thats the only recovery I know.
also if you make a bios back up I think you can recover original setup,
but always be sure u are willing to risk your components and files.
Tehmig12 2 years ago
and if its really messed up you can pull out the CMOS battery on your motherboard if you know what that is :)
Tehmig12 2 years ago
its ok man i have done the remove/install of cmos battery...(: but then on one day i was playing games and suddenly the monitor blacked out and i cant on pc...my dad said tat my mobo has exploded... :( now im using a very slow pc...thnx anw :D
DanD3vil 2 years ago
np mate, dude what did u overclock to????? xD
MB explosion :D
Tehmig12 2 years ago
well i was messing ard with the cpu clock in bios and i accidentally overclock it to 3.36GHZ!!!!!hahahaha...stupid mistake made by a stupid boy... :D
DanD3vil 2 years ago
From what to 3.36? Because 3.2 to 3.36 isnt impressive. But 2,6 to 3.36 if awesome,.
3XPERIMANTAL 2 years ago
2.8 to 3.36...and evryring crashed...
DanD3vil 2 years ago
Cool. *-*
Once I've got my new computer, I'm gonna overclock my old one in such a way that the processor will explode when I get the heatsink off. *-*
3XPERIMANTAL 2 years ago
whoa tat would be the coolest thing ever man...increase the cpu clock speed to the fullest....hahaha
DanD3vil 2 years ago
Try 3.00
NinjaDKDavid 2 years ago
@3XPERIMANTAL 2,6 to 3.36 in general isn't impressive at all.... The i5 easily goes from 2,66 to 3,5 with STOCK voltage and cooler.
With a small overvoltage and a better cooler you can go all the way up to 4ghz
limeman2 2 years ago
SO youre saying I can clock my Celeron D from 3.2 to 4.3 with ease?
3XPERIMANTAL 2 years ago
@3XPERIMANTAL No, I'm saying you can OC your i5 from 2,66 to 3,5 with ease.

12joakim12 2 years ago
Dude let me tell you how much i enjoyed this video. Your like the only level headed dude ive seen so far.Your not one of these 12 yr old geeks that think they know everything about everything and when you try to tell them different they blow a shit fit!!! And you explain things really good. Later.

i don't know why... but why can't microsoft change the BIOS screen??? it really looks primitive... :)
kurogane2x 2 years ago
Simply because the Bios isn't made by Microsoft !!! There are some companies that build a generic bios and then sell it to the motherboards producers that will modify it for their hardware. This is because all bios screens seem equal!
Z80Fan 2 years ago
ow i see.. :D thanks for the info :)).... yeah I saw the BIos screens made by companies that is not Microsoft.... like American something :))
kurogane2x 2 years ago
yeah American Megatrends (AMI) ;-)
Z80Fan 2 years ago
they make it look primitive so that it can be run at any condition and made for function over style
cooltv4 2 years ago
Microsoft don't make the BIOS, silly.
companies do, like: Phoenix, American Megatrends etc.
Parts are hardware and are made by different manufacturers, Microsoft make Windows and software, they don't make the BIOS.
as Mrbit said, every BIOS (diff. motherboard) is different.

iphonereviewer3 2 years ago
i think your using a USB keyboard...right ? BIOS doesn't support USB...use an "older"keyboard...with "non USB" connector
kosec321 2 years ago
BIOS does support usb keyboards, get with the new age sunshine
trojan577588 2 years ago
u must enable usb 2.0 support in BIOS

Hi! I need some help... I cant get into the bios menu, because when i hit delete on startup it ask for a password witch i dont know what is, so is there a way to find out what the pass is??
Sorry for my spelling i'm not english.

you can clear the bios password, by taking off the jumper during startup and the pulling the power cord. google how to clear the bios password, if you dont know what the jumper looks like

MrJackBauer24Fan 2 years ago 2
how do u test?
DaBossk 2 years ago
search for a program called orthos. That will test your CPU...
boldswede 2 years ago
Watch the whole video. He says use prime 95 or orthos. Then just let them run for a few hours. It will stress your cpu and make sure it can sustain it's overclock. I personally use prime 95.

Lesson 1...if you try to overclock a laptop a gnome will pop out and punch you square in the face
glazeddonet 2 years ago
Could you not just put the votage much much higher to ensure stability??
ryanbycraft 2 years ago
I think that would cause additional temperature so you should have a really good cooling system. but, I son't know if I'm right. Don't know much about this...

Intel core 2 duo E7500 2.93ghz
Gigabye EP31-DS3L
RAM 4 GB corsair..
i try to take it to 3.2 ghz.... sometime the PC will hang... any solution???
nikkamarul3400 2 years ago
you can overclock using stock air cooled but not very much and I would not risk raising the voltage, you can play with the cycles and see if it holds within the stock voltage settings.

question? I have been trying to figure out this computer for sometime now trying to get it to run good. I had a major problem when it didn't want to start up and run through the checks. then I figure that out, now for booting I have to hit F1. how do I bypass that??
jazztrio2008 2 years ago

is there a simple overclocking program that is so simple you just download and enter what ghz you want to turn it to?
redslownight 2 years ago
If you don't know EXACTLY what your doing then I'd advise you DON'T OC and just deal with the speed that you have and/or upgrade to a new cpu. And to answer your question, as i know of, no there isn't.
