UGH they are really nothing compared to jim and pam <3 I know America totally ripped off this show from the UK but personally I think the American version is better. Tim is just not as personable and charming as Jim and well Pam has more of a sincerity and sweetness about her while this girl just seems really annoying.
come on, we've all been there. thats what makes it all the more tragic. sometimes the greatest treasures in life are right under our noses but we dont open our eyes enough to see them. classic head over heart moment. experience has taught me to go with the heart every time and fuck the conseqences.
Martin effing Freeman.... just when I think he can't get any better, he pulls off a performance like /that/. Wow.
My heart practically broke just there. I watched the US version before this and was thinking it would be a happy ending like in Casino Night where you heard everything Jim said to Pam and then they kissed... but this was just silence and beautiful acting and then that line.. oh gosh. Amazing and heartbreaking.
But seriously, who could say no to him? Like, really, Dawn? Really?
The US Office is my favorite show ever. I think it is great. This is my first time watching the original office, but I have heard great things about it. I personally like the U.S. version better, probably because I am used to it and I don't really understand the jokes or how they're delivered on the UK one. I guess I just don't get british humor.
as for this tim and dawn business, I think they are nothing compared to jim and pam. Jim and Pam are amazing together.
The original and the best! The U.S office didn't have the same sense of realism for me, Of course they had to change it to suit an American audience who may not quite appreciate the thoroughly British style of the original..but still. Dawn and Tim are amazing. It actually gets on my nerves when people assume the U.S version is the original..for once an amazing British sitcom and people are say it's American! You have Friends and all them so just give us our dues for The Office please =)
I loved this scene so much. So brilliant to do it without any sound.
I know some of you hate the American version, but a fun fact: the American version did an homage to this scene in the recent season finale. Pam and Jim are in an exam room at a hospital, and their mics are off. The scene where they find out they're going to have a baby is all silent. It was touching.
You might hate the American version, but I think it's nice the creators still put in nods to the original.
it is isn't it they are just all the same characters and storylines they just did more series and made the brent character more mental and just unrealistic
This was AMAZINGLY done!! Absolutely beautiful!! This was one of the most heartbreaking scenes in any television show or movie! The silence and Tim's face at the end killed me!
I know The Office (US) is a completely different show than the British now. Has been since season 2. But this is the one scene from the UK version that I want the US to pay homage too. It would be a great one.
Tim is trying so hard to be brave and philosophical about it; you can see him trying to convince himself as he's saying. The moment when he stood up I nearly screamed--I love that he had to TRY one more time. Even after the debacle last time.
it is a scene from a party where tim and dawn is talking, and in the background there is a song playing, with the lyrics " not alone, so dont forget..." anyone know what song it is?
Martin Freeman's acting is absolutely brilliant but turning off the mic is the genius that makes this scene. It adds so much suspense and realistic nature too it. One of the stand-out moments of the best TV show ever made.
Aw. I haven't even seen more than clips of this, and I still want to give 'im a hug. Incredible acting on Freeman's part. That look on his face back at the desk is so... hug-worthy. :)
I agree, that line just kills me, and it's so perfectly delieverd. Matin Freeman does such an amazing job as Tim, particularly in that scene, he's totally sympathetic and believable.
@poops1 She's not a hog, she's just realistic looking. Someone doesn't have to be unnatainably attractive, like most American TV stars, to be beautiful. And also, maybe he fell for her because he liked her personality. You shouldn't make such shallow comments, even on the internet.

Tim was the typical office failure; smells of sweat and beer and stale socks. Like all losers living at home he was probaly gay and realy fancied garet.
I would kill to know what he said to her in there. However, this is part of the beauty of the Tim/Dawn relationship - that we aren't privy to their private moments (the same thing happens in the Christmas Special when they leave the party alone together). It's an interesting comparison to Pam/Jim in the American version when he actually *see* him tell Pam he's in love with her.
Not a good/bad comparison - just an interesting comparison.
DOING the RIGHT thing is so much easier than doing the right thing. Dawn had her commitments, her plans, her expectations of life with Lee. SO what if Tim was her true love? Following that slim silver thread makes no sense compared to the hard truths of your life.... Except sometimes... Sometimes nothing else makes sense.
this just happened to me recently, what tim went through. and when i watch it now, it brings a heavy lump in my throat...that one feeling is the worse.
Me too, I remember this scene just killed me--it seemed more real than any other part of the series. I was really disappointed that "it" didn't happen by the finale...but then they added the christmas special and sealed the deal. I am happy now = )
man, this is my favourite show on tv haha
