you will still get 1920x1080 resolution. DVI and HDMI are both digital signal, only difference is that HDMI can send audio, while DVI is only video.

.: you'll need to find a way to send the audio if you want it playing from the tv.

hmmm... I have a problem. I upgraded from a 17" non lcd monitor to a 19" SOYO DYLM1986 and now I cant play bf2, and joint operations wont accept a higher res that 1280x768. I'm using a VGA cable because it didnt come with the DVI one, would that be the reason of the problem??? or it just sucks....

no,this converter is actually giving us a true hd picture,and converting an inferior analogue signal into digital.also it may have been noticed by some people with an lg plasma,that you cant actually get a 2;35;1 aspect ratio with a 2,35,1 hd-dvd,due to the restrictions of the component connection.on screen it says you must connect with hdmi cable to get hi def screen options.this magical little box will cure all those niggles,so i am getting one pronto.thanks,xcm.

so what the converter actualy is doing,is saperating the audio from the video signal and converts it into stereo,will the video signal stays digital and get,s passtrough to the dvi output.

however i tout that only the xbox360 elite had hdmi output.
