Same exact thing happens to my HP the screen freezes and i get that blue message screen and it takes like 5 times to get it working because the screen keeps freezing and that keeps happening. And when i do get it working it only works until i put in sleep mode or anthing else. CAN ANYONE HELP?

Vista runs great, on both of my computers. 1, I have a 1.8GHz Pentium 4 with 768 Megabytes of RAM. It runs fine. 2, I have a 2.3GHz AMD Quad Core Phenom X4 with 4 Gigabytes of RAM, an 8800GT and 768GB Harddrive space. I have had no problems with these computers, and I Have had Vista installed for well over a year. DONT TELL ME ITS NOT STABLE!
I do gaming on my Phenom, and use the 1.8 for Office work, Web browsing, and it is used by my mother for whatever she feels like using it for.

Prevent the computer from becoming idle for too long a period. Install a small program that prevents Vista from crashing. Be away from your computer for hours left in idle mode and come back to whatever you were working on without any crashes.
TO SOLVE: I installed "Eyeball Chat", a free program for people with or without a webcam. Keep it running in the background.
P.S. Make your video chat room private or you will be disturbed by some pretty disturbed people.

it pisses me off because just last week my computer wouldn't let me log in saying "the server cannot be loaded blah blah blah" and I was like wtf! Then the dell support (which I DO NOT reccomend since it's very annoying to have to go through the automatic voice system thinggy) told me the "server may be corrupted". Anyways, I eventually had to end up with completly wiping out everything on my computer (pictures, videos, etc.) but now it works and i had to get everything back.
..then I'll tell ya this. I use OS X (10.4), Windows Vista, XP, and Ubuntu (7.04). I enjoy them all but OS X is by far the best of them all in terms of not only the user experience one has using the GUI but stability,reliability, and security.

Dude, Vista is just an operating system, you can downgrade to Windows XP, or Install a nice GNU/Linux distribution. Its not the computer that's the problem, its Vista. Just get rid of Vista and your computer will perform like a different machine.

man... the blue screen has nothin` to do with Windows Vista... it's your memory... check it with Windows Memory Check or somethin` under DOS... i'll bet you 10$ that you'll have several value written` in different blocks and return some different values... change your memory asap!
It has nothing to do with my RAM. I'm sure of it. I put my laptop to a lot of stress on a daily basis (15+ apps running at the same time) and it never crashed ONCE under XP.
according to the error, your computer writes to a memory adress that it cannot acces further or writes a value and return another one. it's that simple (p.s.: nero, can also cause memory errors - e.g. if you kill nero.exe while it's burning a cd/dvd). if you don't believe me about the nero.exe error, try this.
start writing a cd/dvd and while it is in the lead-out step, kill nero.exe. the restart your computer and check what happens at booting good luck :)
Just revert to and keep using XP for now - or if you want to actually progress with technology, just dump Microsoft and get a Mac ;) You can even run ur Windows if you really want to via Bootcamp, why not have both options???
I have a Mac and is very fast with games... I havent need for speed or fifa in mac but Doom3, Quake4, Call of duty2, WOW, Sims, Colin McRae, halo, prey, unreals, etc... You can play games in mac too. Even you can run every windows games booting as a windows machine... full compatibility... If you want a directx10 card for mac buy from june 11th ;) The new monster in graphics cards will be showed in the new Keynote of Steve Jobs
If you want to just type papers go online and do basic stuff get a Mac. Most of the major programs people use like MS Office or Photoshop are on Mac. If you play games then get a PC with windows XP on it. Not Vista games run slower on it, go look at the benchmarks. And for games Microsoft has Direct3D witch is way better for making games I think. OpenGL is better for cross platform apps, but not with Vista, I herd they stopped support for openGL. So anything openGL runs like shit.
Don't be silly, why do you need windows in the first place. Try Mac it doesn't crash and you can post something more fun on youtube rather than crashes. Life is good, no need to waste time on Windows

i bought a new vista laptop 3 months ago and it has crashed 8 times since i've owned it. DO NOT BUY A VISTA COMPUTER! so. looks like i'll be buying a mac. Mac rules. Go to the Apple Store and see for yourself.

Dude, Vista is just an operating system, you can downgrade to Windows XP, or Install a nice GNU/Linux distribution. Its not the computer that's the problem, its Vista. Just get rid of Vista and your computer will perform like a different machine.

One thing i have to say to you is when you by a computer with Vista do research first to make sure its vista ready! because the Only ones right now are sony, acer, Dell, tohsiba, and gateway

teh only up side it has it uses its own series of programs(ex. iPhoto iTunes)and has program for many things but windows can do the same but it wont be microsoft making it most the time

Mac is a PC not an operating system, OS X is an operating system and a very good one. XP has never been 'great'. Vista is the worst operating system Microsoft have released since WindowsME.

you got it backwards. windows(all of them) is a shitty os. mac is a COMPUTER. os x is a kickass os system. pc's crash a lot. my mac (which is about 7 0r 8 years old.) has not crashed once or gotten a single virus on it. plus macs are user friendly. pc's. hell. your lucky if your's lasts you 2 years. (i had one once. lasted me 4 months.)

i dont like mac as i am a gamer and it isnt alwys compatible nor reliable when it comes to games because either i cant play at all or i gotta spend my life figuring out a way to play
and windows vista i perfect for me as it is compatible with the 8 games i play and it has windows vista live
so yea its differnt for me than it is you because i've had xp for 5 years or so and vista for a few months and i've never had a problem

Dude macs dont get viruses cuz people know that if they make a virus for a pc they will effect more people. And i doubt your mac never crashed. Now macs are awesome and really good computers but companies usually don't make their software for macs. DOnt ask me why. And i like reformatting. 4months means you must have abused it

I totally agree with your friend. I own a mac and it crashes non-stop, none of the programs I want run on it... it's so shit. I bought a laptop with vista on it which is arriving tomorrow. I hope it won't be as bad as people claim =/

Ok everyone's let's calm down. Some people like Macs, some people like PCs. Just... the vast majority of people like PCs, and Macs aren't useful for anything more than say, a word processor, or a doorstop. Lol. No but seriously, Macs are okay as long as you're just using it in place of pen and paper. 1.2GB of printer drivers for Mac can't be wrong.

man... the blue screen has nothin` to do with Windows Vista... it's your memory... check it with Windows Memory Check or somethin` under DOS... i'll bet you 10$ that you'll have several value written` in different blocks and return some different values... change your memory asap!

It has nothing to do with my RAM. I'm sure of it. I put my laptop to a lot of stress on a daily basis (15+ apps running at the same time) and it never crashed ONCE under XP.

according to the error, your computer writes to a memory adress that it cannot acces further or writes a value and return another one. it's that simple (p.s.: nero, can also cause memory errors - e.g. if you kill nero.exe while it's burning a cd/dvd). if you don't believe me about the nero.exe error, try this.
start writing a cd/dvd and while it is in the lead-out step, kill nero.exe. the restart your computer and check what happens at booting good luck :)

Just revert to and keep using XP for now - or if you want to actually progress with technology, just dump Microsoft and get a Mac ;) You can even run ur Windows if you really want to via Bootcamp, why not have both options???

I have a Mac and is very fast with games... I havent need for speed or fifa in mac but Doom3, Quake4, Call of duty2, WOW, Sims, Colin McRae, halo, prey, unreals, etc... You can play games in mac too. Even you can run every windows games booting as a windows machine... full compatibility... If you want a directx10 card for mac buy from june 11th ;) The new monster in graphics cards will be showed in the new Keynote of Steve Jobs

If you want to just type papers go online and do basic stuff get a Mac. Most of the major programs people use like MS Office or Photoshop are on Mac. If you play games then get a PC with windows XP on it. Not Vista games run slower on it, go look at the benchmarks. And for games Microsoft has Direct3D witch is way better for making games I think. OpenGL is better for cross platform apps, but not with Vista, I herd they stopped support for openGL. So anything openGL runs like shit.

vista is fine aslong as you have 2 gigs of ram and if you dont the go back to xp...not a lot of people have the hardware to run it thats the problem

Or if he enjoys windows, go back to XP and just avoid the incessant crashing altogether. Vista's crashfest is the reason I am still enjoying XP. The last thing I want to do is trade my stable OS for a new unstable one.

he says teh compute is slow and it sucks
windows is way more popular more compatible as u don't have 2 w8 for a mac version for anything
and they're perfect for entertainment and gamers
