Most of letter to Romans is about sin so apparently it was quite a deal. We are dead to sin and we are not slaves anymore. Nevertheless, we still have (not follow it) flesh and we fight with it daily (carrying our cross daily). Jesus salvation is not something that happens once in our life but it continue (because we fall and then repent) after we receive it.
