@tjholowaychuk if you think about it, it's not that bad. there's a good chance that that monkey isn't beaten, and it does these tricks in exchange for food on a regular basis. At most, it's just a small amount of tedium, just like your job is, presumably (as would be the case for anyone). it's a lot better than being stuck in a cage somewhere in a store, like it may likely have been were it not for this person buying the monkey.
