I'm all for a more story-heavy Metroid game, but next time just take the Prime 3 approach to voice acting and make it simple with little to no Samus talking
This game was the most underrated game other than killer 7. Metroid other M was a beautiful game. And the story was okay. It's just that everyone had an illusion of how Samus was before and now complains because she now have a voice (which I hear people complain to nintendo about all the time) and a backstory not left to one's imagination.
i still like the first person view, if only they allowed you to mix up your weapons like in super metroid and still have first person like the metroid primes
This ad is an outright lie about what the game contained. There was no history of Samus, there was no 'past' pushing her- they just randomly introduced a bunch of new characters that they retrofit into the canon and she cries when she sees Ridley. Big let down.
I have to say though, this ad is really awesome. The game however was not.
I see people bashing other m because they ruined her "character". I have to ask: what character!? Someone please how does the silent robotic protagonist known as Samus Aran in prime 1 2 and 3 feel like she had character. Hell Link was more expressive than Samus and he never talks either!

I'd be pretty damn bored if the character was left unchanged from Metroid prime (not saying the game sucked), I think her character would be great in artwork that only depends on a panoramic personality. But in a book, movie, or a cinematic game Samus had to get some kind of character overhaul, is it strong and perfect. No. Is it human. Hell yes.

@CheetosWiitard : Because the Wii is a piece of shit. Every time I have to switch out my rechargable battery, I have to resync the damn controller. 2 time a week min. I have to find regular batteries, cause I need to press the sync button the the controller, then press the one on the console. Then quickly switch out the batteries with the recharged pack. & it doesnt always work the first 3 times. All because you cant hook the damn thing up to the console. Good job Nintendo. Hope they got nuked.

@flamevizier It's called Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Don't forget though, the games she's fought them in doesn't really express anything, it's as if you're just playing through. Although, I will admit it was overdone on all the emotional issues, it was still something new and added a lot of depth to her character.
@flamevizier In all honesty, I did not see how she was overly-emotional. Remember, most of her lines were her thoughts. People may not always talk about their feelings, but they certainly feel and think about them. About the Ridley thing, when you consider ALL that she has been through, ALL that was happening in her life, and the fact that Samus was emotionally scarred by him at an early age, I could not see anyone being able to handle that. Seriously, she has the worst life ever.
@CaioNV Apart from the Mario Galaxy games, I completely agree. Other M is underrated, it deserves more praise than it has gotten. A bit of tampering with Samus Aran's character in the next game (ie. let her absolutely destroy everything in sight with zero help), and everything will be fine.

I don't think her character was ruined at all, I've beaten the game and really enjoyed it. But if you go into this game expecting the samus your familiar with it will disapoint you, this game tells the story of how she became the strong stern samus we love not. It's a great story and great game.
This game has really got nothing on Super Metroid. You say Samus is QUIET and CONFIDENT yet she TALKS all the time and COWERS in Ridley's face even though canonically she's already fought him 6 TIMES. The dpad controls have no reason to exist in a 3D game and a lot of the subtle nuances are all wrong: Samus' beam fires too slow, for instance. This game would've been better if it used the nunchuck and if Team Ninja had put an ounce of effort into keeping Samus in character.

didn't anyone find it weird that Samus doesn't use her best weapons to fight at the time she needs them or her suits for that matter. I know Adam said not to use them, but what harm could a suit do? also she shouldn't have to follow orders anymore, she's not in the marines, she is a lone bounty hunter. just wanted to get that out, it's an awesome but that bothers me.
@salazar30 If you think about it, Samus arrived at the Bottle Ship some time after the GF had arrived. It was their mission, not hers. She is a bounty hunter, she's 'for hire' essentially, and that's what Adam did. So she was under his rules. Given that she is an ex-marine, it actually showed a lot of character and maturity for her to heed his commands.
It's just that her VA was terrible and made her come off like a complete wuss while doing it.

This is the first game in a long time that has brought me back the feeling of what a great storyline and game play should be! Definitely one of the best looking Wii titles to date. The Cinematic into real time video is so smooth that sometimes it gets you caught of guard into a fight. Using one remote for the controls is very balance and works quite well. This is very much a HARDCORE game.
I enjoyed learning Samus story and cant wait for more.

Other M really isn't getting the credit it deserves. The story is engaging, with a few niggles. It plays beautifully, and the switch to first person mode couldn't be more smooth. The boss fights are incredibly entertaining, and running around shooting enemies at a high speed is pure fun.
Seriously, everyone should buy it. I really, really, want a sequel - if it fixes a few things, it could be incredible.

Do NOT COMPARE WII WITH XBOX360 or PS3 both these consoles are far stronger then the Wii /carebear. But for Wii it's the best graphical game so far on that console. Nuff said.

I could also compare Zelda to much, much deeper RPG games, with actual inventory, leveling system and even betrayals, for example: Baldur's Gate, Planescape and of course, Diablo. In comparison to this games, Legend of Zelda is just a dull, primitive console game for children.

And furthermore, the gameplay is about as unique as a Final Fantasy game. In fact, this game is the Final Fantasy of Nintendo. The cutscenes and emotional storyline are all Final Fantasy-esque.

@CaioNV Apart from the Mario Galaxy games, I completely agree. Other M is underrated, it deserves more praise than it has gotten. A bit of tampering with Samus Aran's character in the next game (ie. let her absolutely destroy everything in sight with zero help), and everything will be fine.

This game has met my expectations, but it hasn't exceeded them. I still put it after the prime games, but better than any of the 2D Metroids.
The story really is amazing though.

I don't think her character was ruined at all, I've beaten the game and really enjoyed it. But if you go into this game expecting the samus your familiar with it will disapoint you, this game tells the story of how she became the strong stern samus we love not. It's a great story and great game.

This game has really got nothing on Super Metroid. You say Samus is QUIET and CONFIDENT yet she TALKS all the time and COWERS in Ridley's face even though canonically she's already fought him 6 TIMES. The dpad controls have no reason to exist in a 3D game and a lot of the subtle nuances are all wrong: Samus' beam fires too slow, for instance. This game would've been better if it used the nunchuck and if Team Ninja had put an ounce of effort into keeping Samus in character.

didn't anyone find it weird that Samus doesn't use her best weapons to fight at the time she needs them or her suits for that matter. I know Adam said not to use them, but what harm could a suit do? also she shouldn't have to follow orders anymore, she's not in the marines, she is a lone bounty hunter. just wanted to get that out, it's an awesome but that bothers me.

@salazar30 If you think about it, Samus arrived at the Bottle Ship some time after the GF had arrived. It was their mission, not hers. She is a bounty hunter, she's 'for hire' essentially, and that's what Adam did. So she was under his rules. Given that she is an ex-marine, it actually showed a lot of character and maturity for her to heed his commands.
It's just that her VA was terrible and made her come off like a complete wuss while doing it.

Review - finally done ^^
This is the first game in a long time that has brought me back the feeling of what a great storyline and game play should be! Definitely one of the best looking Wii titles to date. The Cinematic into real time video is so smooth that sometimes it gets you caught of guard into a fight. Using one remote for the controls is very balance and works quite well. This is very much a HARDCORE game.
I enjoyed learning Samus story and cant wait for more.
Good job Team Ninja!

Other M really isn't getting the credit it deserves. The story is engaging, with a few niggles. It plays beautifully, and the switch to first person mode couldn't be more smooth. The boss fights are incredibly entertaining, and running around shooting enemies at a high speed is pure fun.
Seriously, everyone should buy it. I really, really, want a sequel - if it fixes a few things, it could be incredible.

When you play the game @home it looks far better then any game on Wii so far, it makes any Xbox and PS2 game eat dirt. Do NOT COMPARE WII WITH XBOX360 or PS3 both these consoles are far stronger then the Wii /carebear. But for Wii it's the best graphical game so far on that console. Nuff said.

I fail to understand the appeal to this.
Not only that it looks horrible: technically, graphically and artistically, the gameplay is awful too.
I am totally convinced that people will devour everything Nintendo puts on their plate, including the god-awful Zelda, Mario and Pokemon games.
The only reason I can think of is simply the nostalgia that people experience from playing said games, nothing more.
There is nothing revolutionary about any of Nintendo's games; just cheap gimmicks.

All it has is just the cliché "HURR DURR GANONDORF IS TRYING TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD, ZELDA U HAVE TO SAVE IT HERP DERP". Even Halo has better storyline than this.
I could also compare Zelda to much, much deeper RPG games, with actual inventory, leveling system and even betrayals, for example: Baldur's Gate, Planescape and of course, Diablo. In comparison to this games, Legend of Zelda is just a dull, primitive console game for children.

@Dimak666 I think the blind fanboy here is you. The graphics are not "stunning" like some people are saying, but they sure as hell aren't terrible like you claim. The artistic style of this game, if anything else, is true to the Metroid series. Get your facts straight before you troll a video.
And furthermore, the gameplay is about as unique as a Final Fantasy game. In fact, this game is the Final Fantasy of Nintendo. The cutscenes and emotional storyline are all Final Fantasy-esque.
