  • We can view the old testament as PHYSICAL (burnt offerings, fragrance, etc.) and the new testament as SPIRITUAL (forgiveness by repentance, in-filling of the Holy Ghost, etc.) The book of Romans speaks of a spiritual burial (full immersion baptism) and a spiritual resurrection (arising from the water) so that we may walk in newness of life.

How can we be reborn without a death?

  • Overall a very good movie, however, this scene depicts a baptism that is conflicting with the word of God. Romans 6, verse 4 supports full immersion baptism, stating that “ Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

  • Wow! For people or any1 to dislike anything holy and of God and Jesus, must be really reeeeeeeeally lost.

  • beautifull movie

  • This movie will always have a special place in my heart. Among the movies on the life of Christ this one is my favorite. It tells the life of Christ in a simple and straightforward manner. Further it is in accord with the Gospels but it is not twisted like the Last Temptation of Christ was. Thumbs up for Jesus of Nazareth!!! I agree also that Powell was great as Jesus.

  • I love this movie!!!!!!!!!! the 2 people that disliked this movie were not baptized by John!!!! haha I love Robert Powell in this. I woder if he ever realized the effect he had on people with this movie.

  • Jesus looks very much how I'd imagine Jesus to look, but he's eyes are kinda creepy.

  • TERRIFIC! Such GREAT acting. I love the way John the Baptist was portrayed in this film (Peter too)... Full of ENERGY and EXCITEMENT! August 29th was when was beheaded. Bless his soul! Let us never forget!

  • WOW, BREATH TAKING

  • Silent Night! Well you seem to have a point - But hey! What plannet are you on when you say That Jesus "humbled himself to the sacraments " Are you a complete idiot? or worse? Christ hung on a cross - and died - he did not humle himself for man made liturgical non-sense! - I (only spent 8 years to geta B.D and an M.Th) That after 2 other Pg stuff - you are an idiot of the first order

  • 0.57 epic look on john the Baptists face !

  • Wait Wait Wait,

@ 0:55, isn't that one of the GEICO cavemen?

  • This is a wonderful scene where we see the three persons of the Godhead working in unity. The Son is doing all righteousness, The Holy Spirit is annointing the Son Yeshua for his ministry, The Father is approving all. This Jesus of Nazareth is the best film version of the messiah.

  • I feel like John the Baptism is too good looking here to be a humble meek prophet!

  • It is written..

1 Corinthians 10:1-2 1 For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. 2 They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.

Baptism, from the Greek word "baptizo" which means..

    1) to dip repeatedly, to immerse, to submerge (of vessels sunk)

    Baptism is not a sprinkling...

  • I say good video, it just needs God's plan of salvation according to Acts 2:38. This is the way the church got started and the Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritans all came the same way. Acts 2:4, 2:38, 10:44--48, 19:1-6, Mark 16:16, Romans 6:3-5, 1 Corinthians 12:13, Galatians 3:27, Ephesians 4:5-6. 1 Peter 3:21. One can't escape baptism of the water and spirit. There's no sinner's prayer in the Bible. We have to come the way God set up on Pentecost. The Bibleway is the only way. man can't change it.

  • @CrazyRachelJ Nooo not at all rubbish, that was a good answer. I think as long as it's in the realm of showing us something about himself in how he was humble yet setting an example of righteous perfection, there is no wrong answer.

    Thanks for your reply =j

  • The most beautiful movie ever made!

  • i get a chill everytime jesus enters.

  • AMEN!

  • What a nice scene. But have you ever wondered why Jesus wanted to be baptized? He was already righteous, so why the baptism? To set an example for how important it was to feel spiritually cleansed and fulfilled, not just for the abominator but also for the so-called "just" as well? ...Yeah that was part of it, but there was a whole other reason to why he wanted to be baptized and be witnessed by a whole bunch of people ...can you guess?

  • @SilentNight700 My guess is that it was not merely his death which saved us, but rather, his death in obedience to the Father. Notice that he says, "to fulfill all righteousness." He humbled himself to come among us, and humbled himself as well to undergo the sacraments, and to die in obedience to the father.

  • @shadow3772 A very good guess. All the answers I've heard in my life all have one thing in common. They all talk about him fullfilling a task. And if that's what keeps coming up then that's what we're suppose to get and understand from this.

Thank you for your reply :D

  • The Bible is the word of God. It is all we need to live a righteous life

  • Those who deny Lord Jesus are incapable to understand that such a wonderful being existed. Yes, such a wonderful being exists! Lord Jesus is God!

  • @MrIvanspak says, "John the Baptist is the Greatest Prophet of All Time!!!" Yes, but: he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
