When someone becomes President of America, they don't become powerful, instead they become powerless because they fall into the sticky embalming centre of the spiders web.
It has been the case that foreign workers, in particular from Europe and North America, get more than locals. It’s not right, but it is the case in all Arab countries and has been so for a very long time.
Illiteracy in Iraq is not a consequence of the invasion or wholly the fault of the governments that came after. It was on the rise since the 1980’s but was always high anyway. She claims that the demonstrations in Baghdad’s Tahrer Square were put down in “ways that were new to Iraqi people”!!?? Do I need to say more about who/what this woman really is? Dem Now is well known for it’s blind anti war stance and for that reason this women’s comments were not challenged by the idiots in the studio.
@mazzin62 The governments that came after are a direct result of the invasion. Please stop trying to make yourself feel better about the invasion because it's beyond pathetic. Please don't try to talk about issues that are above your intellect.
She makes out that the Sunnies are oppressed!! She claims that 1% of Iraqis live in the green zone, and are the rich and that the other 99% are poor!!! Where did she get these numbers from? What a load of rubbish. She talks of a woman in her twenties being illiterate as the fault of the changes after the invasion! If I am 20 today that will make me 12 in 2003. Haven’t 12 year olds learnt to read and write a little by that age? It can't mathematically be the fault of the invasion.
I think it is so clear that this Yanar Mohammed is a sectarian Sunnie Ba’athi. She makes out that all our problems in Iraq are because of the Shia and Iran. As if the majority Sunnie areas were havens for women’s rights from the beginning of time. When did the last unveiled woman walk the streets of the overwhelmingly Sunnie cities of Ramadi, Feluja and Aa’na for example?
As a practicing Muslim Woman, I am firstly very saddened by what has happened to my sisters in Iraq, however this I dont know what "sharia" this woman is speaking about where "woman are half of a man, and socially a quarter".......no idea where she pulled that out of. One of the most beautiful things about the sharia is the equality between men and woman, if that is truly how things are in Iraq, then its CULTURE, NOT SHARIA!
@ummrania Yeah that was weird hearing that. I skeptical on whether the woman is being honest or if she doesn't understand that's a false sharia on the Iraqi government.
@tonysanthedarkstar unfortunately we're barely capitalist. with all the 'favors' the government does for the corporations, the US more closely resembles fascism and with our war mongering habits we're also imperialists.
@xivashanti Capitalism is an economic system unrelated to foreign policy. Socialist countries attack other countries for profit too

@ElJefer These are meaningless words. You could also call it an oligarchy.

@prufenful Sure, a lot of these words overlap. Basically, they're systems that use state coercion to benefit the few.
