Wonder if this is how the Israelites in the Old Testament worshiped God Almighty...in a thunderous din of fellowship, shouting their praise and supplications in all honesty and sincerity.
Stupendous! The Spirit was definitely moving in that wonderful lady who led the group so magnificently. This is the definitive version of this hymn for me from now on. I am a long way from Eastern Alabama, but I certainly wish I could be there to hear this sung live by these fine people when they get together. Thank you, and God bless you for posting this and all the other wonderful videos here.
My Lord, my Lord, my Lord...Thank you for posting this. Going through some rough times. This was much needed. It's a song I'll carry with me forever, now. I grew up with this song but Sacred Harp made it set itself deep within me in a way I'd never experienced before. God bless you and thanks for the comfort you brought me.
In the past hour or so i have discovered for the first time this sacred harp music, and im blown away by it, im touched deeply by the emotion in the voices of the singers.
I dont know much thus far about what it is i am listenning to, but i like what i hear.
The song is familiar, even here in Ireland, but i never heared it sung with such devotion before, and that woman, it would seem god manifests itself through that woman, to the point i am near to tears...inspired somewhat?
@errindoores Now you have singing in Cork, Ireland, so you can sing this music with others! They don't have this particular song, however; that's from the Cooper version of the book, and Ireland uses the Denson version.
The voice soar and the music, like a beautiful yet unseen wave washes over one bringing memories of home and long departed loved ones. What wonderful, wonderful singing!

This is what hymn singing ought to be, and so rarely is.

This was my mother's favorite hymn. I would bet you'll be hard pressed to ever hear a more heart-felt rendition of this hymn. Wonderful.

I go to this Sacred Harp singing each May.
What a surpise to see myself in the doorway on this!
Everybody needs Sacred Harp in their lives.
