  • Can anyone advise me the best way to seam the upholstery on the sofa that is 60 " wide wna fabric id 54 " wide- should I have a seam in the middle or 2 seams on the sides?

  • I would love to watch more of your videos. I think you are a great teacher.

  • Thanks a lot for the video! I'm making a little chair and seeing what you do is inspiring. Could you possibly tell me (or us) where is the best place to purchase foam, webbing, burlap, and even coils?

  • Please do not feel like a fool! You make it look easy and out of the hundreds of videos that I have watched I understand this one the most. Thank you!

  • @caseyb27 Thank you. I've doing Upholstery for 40 years. When I do the videos I try to put myself in the shoes of someone that knows very little about Upholstery. It's hard to think of all the question a person might have.

    Thanks

    Craig

  • This is very helpful. My mom used to upholster and I was too young and stupid to pay attention. This video is informative and to the point.

    Thanks for your work.

  • Hi, I'm just finishing a project to refurb a recliner chair. Just the arms sections to cover now. I'd be grateful if you could advise on this step. Do I need any material between the foam padding on the arms and the outer fabric (I am using Dralon)?

The chair originally had a dense layer of foam over the arm section (which is intact) with a thinner layer of foam over it (which is disintegrating in parts) and then the Dralon.

    Any advice gratefully received.

  • @wayneschlaegal

Use a layer of dacron or cotton between the foam and fabric. The bad foam should be replaced

  • This is a great video. Too many presenters are concerned mainly with how they look and sound, and they end up with uninformative videos. You have a clear style of explanation.

  • @RoundhouseLion Thanks I try not to be in the video. I don't think people want to see me, just what I have to say.

  • @spiritedladyboutique Hey could you please get an arm chair and place videos per stage until complete restoration, dont really care how many videos I have to watch, but have an arm chair I would like to have a go at restoring, and your videos are the best I have seen so for explanations. please please please

  • Awesome, thanks for the presentation!

  • @glennaycock

Thank you for the nice comment.

  • I know this guy isn't a professional tv personality and the video may be rough. But this is the first video i've seen that actually goes through all the steps. Every other video I've seen spends 5 minutes demonstrating step one, and then they just list off the other steps. Thanks

  • @waitwhatwasthat

It is hard doing the videos I feel like a fool.

    Thank You

    Craig

  • You shouldn't feel like a fool. You did a great job of presenting. Keep it up!

  • Hey dont cut down the vid, u have something people want, KNOWLEDGE! As long as the vid is no longer than 10min each thats cool! U may have to do three or four vids per project, most do. I like how u upholster, better than most and much more professional.

  • Makes sense to me! Thanks for the insights. :)

  • I agree with LabRat , there is no point on just skipping the stepps and just showing the gest , I am really tring to find a step by step upholstery , cuz i have a feeling that its the little things like were to cuz , and were to staple correctly , thats going to make the defference , and i need that great detail approach to try to make a piece of furniture myself, cuz i am not going to go out and buy materials, and try to make something , if i only know the round about way . Thank you

  • @whatleymattu Easiest way for you is to get an old piece of furniture, one of those in the dumpster and try to see how it was made -reverse engineering- I took an old couch, saw how it was wraped...you'd be surprised, everything inside is like a mess, the foam just covers the imperfections.

  • Hello Craig - thanks for taking the time to put this video together - I did get the gist of it but would enjoy seeing this part in full length. You mention making the videos shorter? Why may I ask, to accommodate those who won't take the time to learn or be patient enough to upholster their own chairs. Please, I'd like to see a full length version. The fast forward feature is there for those who want to skip through anything. Thanks again for sharing your skills and knowledge in this field.

  • I agree with you wholeheartedly. I enjoy learning new things.

  • Muchas graciaspor la explicación, me basto con lo que ví para entender como va la real tapicería, ¡muy bueno su video!.

  • tankyou so much

  • For Auto Upholstery in the Granite City, Illinois are please check out my video,Thanks.

  • really helpful

  • Thank you very much for making this video. It makes more sence to me now since i tried to make a chair my self and failed making it sit comfortable. I'll try to make it like you said and hope it will sit the way i want to.

    Gr. Peter

  • cool

  • es un muy buen video espero lo subtitulen en español felicidades buen trabajo desde mexico un gran saludo

  • Thank your for the demonstration, I am watching. I so desire to get some upholstering done, I've done my diningroom set 6 chairs twice so far... The children love to destroy the fabric... But it's fun to make them new and new curtains... So it works out for all of us. Keep up the videos

  • Thanks for the video Craig.
