This movie is generally the same to the 2005 version story wise. Unlike the 1976 version.
The biggest difference between the Peter's version and this film (other than the many T-Rexs and the other things that happen differently, plus todays special effects) is in the 1933 version she doesn't care for Kong.
The 2005 version gave it a new emotion when she cared like he was human. Sadly I saw the new one first which is also amazing, but the new one was in my head, when seeing this Kong.
This is the 1938 re-release trailer. (Note the RKO radio re-release text at the end?)The original 1933 trailer is now lost. In the original trailer you don't even see Kong. You just hear his footsteps and roars and then his shadow.
And that can be seen by comparing Kong(1933) to Mighty Joe Young(1949).
No new technology introduced, but by adding an experienced animator into the mix, you get a fantastic result. Jurassic Park will still hold up quite well for decades to come for this very reason, where as Kong aged quite quickly in comparison....
This picture was the cutting edge of it's day, but stop motion was - commercially - a new technology back in the 30s. The only difference between this and what followed was merely the talent and skill of the animator.
CGI on the other hand is more or less the same thing, but the difference between JP and and more modern films is simply computing power. Unlike Kong, JP had excellent talent on hand to go with the ground breaking technology. As JP had Tippet, Kong needed Harryhausen.
The Movie That Started It All Is Still An All Time Classic. My Favourite Star Of The Movie Is Not Kong, I Must Confess, But The T-Rex Whom I Loved As A Child, First Seeing This Movie. His Death Made Me Cry As A Little Boy, But Today I Know, That Kong Is The Star Of This Movie. In The End I Regretably Have To Say, I Like Peter Jackson's Remake More, But The 1933-Movie Will Live In All Hearts, It's An Unforgettable Classic Masterpiece.
@5738429 No, no, it's not clay. IIRC, it's a solid, hard rubber-like latex. Latex was widely in usage in films for SFX purposes well into the '90s. And that's in large part because of this very film here, that literally changed the way that motion-pictures were MADE for more than six decades, at least!
This is a great movie, arguably the greatest film ever made! Only a small handful of other films made thus far across the entire of Cinematic History are comparable to this!
omg this is so scary!!!!!
