  • slap some armor on this guy, give him some arms, and teach him how to fight and in a few years we could have boxing robots!!!!

  • 0:41 i can dance to that beat!!!

  • i think they should make robots with moving arms. i know its an added complication but that's how humans walk. our arms generate a lot of momentum and also give balance. its unnatural to walk without arm movement, which is why asimo is so great.

  • Is there any force sensor on the shallow? I think it is balancing only by trunk movement.

  • we must stop skynet and prevent judgement day!

  • its like a old person walking

  • the noise sounds like beat box

  • :O i want one of those/111 can i have one? ill just modify the looks and make it a bebe robot from a tv show

  • I believe it uses a gyroscope made by Dr Blackwell. Gyroscopes are one thing, but there is a lot more to walking than purely balance. Site is another major factor. Humans just don't walk around for the heck of it. We use our eyes to judge distance and constantly adjust our stride accordingly. This video was made in 2007, since then Dexter has learned to walk considerably better. We are still many decades away from anything I-Robot-like...

  • @jwd0808 what about blind people walking? I would describe bipedal stride as a sort of controlled fall, force is propelled from the back leg sending the hips tiping over the planted leg, free leg whips forward and stiffens on impact to allow hips to continue vault and fall in direction of the walk. It's not eyesight but a sense of continous direction of force that keeps one up-right.

  • @tjakal your ears help they hold some of the important organs that help control balance

  • @insanezy Yeah I know, as do most swedes, there was a popular joke about extracting balance fluid from the ears as a grand prize over here. I Replied to jwd0808 who suggested a biped needed eye-sight in order to stay upright.

  • 0:50 he's got that Sammy Davis Jr. thang goin on ...

  • It kind of reminds me of the Attari 400. It'll be interesting to take another look at this 20 years from now.

  • robots don't learn to walk it just depends what program there using and how good it is any way

  • haha looks like real life "sumotori dreams" when he pushes, i love the gait looks really cool, and theres nothing cooler than pneumatic actuation.

  • Wow how do u manage to make the robot tells where its center of gravity is? Programming?

  • @runeseekerz Maybe with a gyroscope? I don't know I'm just guessing. If anyone knows how to "teach" a robot to walk and perform other balancing acts, please post a link for us.

  • scary as shit

  • Will it learn to maximize falling/walking the way humans have so it travels better?

  • Nice acompaning music!

  • watch more full dexter episodes free on

    video.takeitfree . info

  • LOL 25:00 BUMP

  • baby terminator!!!

  • @therealbox28 so passe............

  • Great!... It is amazing to see robots walking on land... but how about walking on water ? See on youtube: NEWEST ROBOT THAT WALK ON WATER

  • @died4hislove its endless array of opportunities they're capable of! telepresence, servicing, washing dishes,,, only if they can be our lovers!

  • The question now is, can they learn to wear high heels?

  • Time will tell.. time will tell..

  • So in theary can there be necromacnilal being created?

  • Yall are cool ive always wanted to learn how to do robotics is that a real word.

  • Dexter and Petman are so much better designed than that crappy Asimo which cant even handle walking up 3 steps without falling. The stabilization Dexter has going there is much more human life like.

  • Robots shoving robots! Excellent. I hope fighting is not too far in the future (not those little rolly things--G.D. gladiator robots!)

  • I see a new version of battle bots in the future...

  • I've seen better. Ir looks like it's using pneumatics or something

  • i'm sure it would be cheaper to re-engineer our enviroments to suit robots rather than develop complex walking robots .. still i'm sure the tech will find some use somewhere...

more convinced by swarm robotics etc than classic scifi picture of humanoid

  • I like his shoes! xD

  • Why is it walking so slowly? Looks like it's afraid to make even a single step :P

  • bipedal locomotion is flawed, there are so many better ways of movement. its a waste of time on a project like this.

  • There are no better ways around _human_ environments that account for the same flexibility and unpredictability than the ability to get around on two legs. This research also extends into creating better prosthetic s and more entertaining robo battles. (Okay, I was being silly with that last one, but could you imagine?)

  • Anyone know the "latest, greatest" walking humanoid robots? Me and a friend were talking about it, and asimo could move around fairly well a few years ago, you'd think in 2009 we'd have a robot able to walk around at least as well as a human...

  • Toyota's recently built the fastest bipedal robot. it can run 7 km/h and does the dynamic balancing thing that this one does.

    /watch?v=sv35ItWLBBk

  • asimo is still the most advanced though he only runs 1KM/H Slower

  • i just saw a video of ASIMO running an obstacle course. very cool.

  • the one with the spinning objects? because there u can see how much he depends on the overhead camera and the colored objects

  • Technological advancement seems to have halted a long time ago. I used to see robots just like this 20 years ago. I guess it's probably society ethics or robotphobia from movies that inhibits scientists in making steps forward. Or maybe not, maybe today's scientists are just very stupid compared with previous generations(like for example Japan's average IQ has lowered greatly this last decade due to the lazy western way of life spreading itself there).

  • you must be stupid enough saying this. 20 years ago there was NO walking robots. Some of there were walking, but very bad and slow.

  • Qrio.

    BigDog.

  • haha

  • well your right bujabo :D but HE looks like a cute little baby who is learning to walk.

  • Robots are going to be the end of Earth.

  • I'd say humans will be more likely

  • Now make it look like Arni.

  • man, that's creepy! Learning how to walk is an interesting way to get this walking well. I'd like to see it when it's learned fully how to walk and keep it's balance. Cool!

  • 50 Beat

  • i think that the robots "white things" on its shoulders are for hands....o.o

  • oh shit! terminators are here!!

  • its only a matter of time......lol

  • lol. the face!

i thought that it was doing a jig in the beginning!

this is some cool stuff though

  • Who the eff has time and money for building these?

  • cool i thoght it would take like 5 more years for us to get robots to walk!!!!

  • lmao is it tryna make a beat ? sounds like it at the first part !!!

  • that's pretty cool

  • Feh- let me know when they make one that can break dance

  • jesus christ, make a cooler head for them god damnit, -.-

  • they should combine the codes for walking with programming and balancing.............

  • ITS THE TERMINATOR!!!

  • Roflmao :D it is! ...

    Da TERMINATOR.

If the terminator was real, then he would think, 'com'on dude, this cant be real, this is just a peace of crap'

  • IM SCARED D:

  • The weight, size, material of his shoe matters also if you take in account for stability.

  • This thing will KILL US in the future!! FUCK OFF VIRTUAL INTELLIGENCE!

  • Oh dont worry... we humans will build walking mech's firsth (walkig tanks) Only after that big war we have to worry about virtual intelligence ^^

At least if we dont blow up the world with nukes yet

  • It's not a robot, it's a rhythm machine.

  • terminator/do him hands and give him plasma gun))

  • I want to make a porn movie, staring Dexter. What else does he do?

  • Is it me or robots move have an erie move, it's cool though.

  • awesome

  • hey he kind of walks like my retarded neighbor.

  • Nice shoes

  • asimo need to teach this robot how to walk

  • not exactly. Asimo can walk, but if you push it, it will fall down. it has no real balance

that's why Asimo falls down stairs a lot

  • You're definitely right... it's much more of a challenge to make a machine walk with its own balance than it's programing... good point.

  • it's like a zombie..........

  • a robotic zombie LOL

    zombies are real

  • dude ... think about it ..... robotic zombie game parks ... you and a team of other people holding out agsint robots made to look like zombies and you have real guns

  • genius!!!! that would be a seller.

  • And that thing is supposed to bring us where?

  • how dare u poke me, wait till i get some arms i'll punch ya bloody nose off and let down ya tyres!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How the heck am I supposed to have sex with that thing??? I mean that's why i would buy a robot.

  • just lick a 90 years old fat man. :-))

  • lol that other robot is just a bully

  • Asta la vista, baby! Someone needs to call Sarah Connor to terminate this f#cker!! LOL

  • cool but like terminator...

  • this is very creepy. but brilliant.

  • cats in the craddle and the silver spoon

  • it is very scaring

  • this is so awesome this is a huge step to help ppl with out leggs to walk again

  • This video is probably 15 years old. We have more mature things like Asimo now.

  • true

  • if thats fifteen years ago wtf have the military got running around behind closed doors bloody scary thought now where did i put my EMP plans!!

  • what is the noise? it is very scaring

  • That robot..is cute <3

  • cool robot

  • I could have swore I heard a hiphop beat lol.

  • LOL ROBOT POKE XD

  • lol, the robot on wheels was pushing around the robot on feet. looks like their already learning from us.

  • The stupid thing needs to pick it's feet up when it walks... it's going to wear out the carpet the way it drags it's feet!

  • What people need to remmember is that Asimo has weighted oversized feet, the idea of this robot is that it uses the same footprint area as a human and bablances accordingly. This is illustrated by the wearing of standard simple footware.

  • thats scaring

  • It needs arms

  • That is the first step of the Terminator ^^

  • Thats wat i was thinking.. lol

  • It makes music when it walks!

  • TERMINATOR MODAL #001

  • lol i rofled when the robot was poking the other one..like WTF IS THAT?

  • this looks ancient....

  • who thought it would be a good idea to plimsoles on its feet. The amount of money that went into building such a robot I'm sure you could afford a decent pair of trainers or get some sponsorship from NIKE for fox sake.

  • nice cute.

  • lol and still u guys cant get away from pnewmatics and hydrolics lol there are much more ezyer ways and cheeper then to do that... and u will find that if programed right it will stabalise with out sencers... all the sencers will be used for is when it recives knock

  • Uhm.... Asimo still rules the robot universe.

  • when it isnt falling over

  • Thats the thing. If Asimo falls he will get up, and if Asimo is about to fall he will balance himself to prevent it.

  • ajaj thath scares the first images like a movie of sci - fi,.. it looks nice

  • it gets better w/ practice. I'll bet. Maybe w/ a few slight adjustments with the hydraulics.

  • haha it walks like michael jackson

  • Hah I play the terminator song in my head as it says 'walking improves with practice'

    dun dun dun dun dun

  • Looks like en early version of a terminator endoskeleton.

    Are cyberdyne interested?

    :-)

  • Why are biped robotics so pathetic? It would be easy to design a realistic simulation, and the laws of physics are the same in reality or on a computer.

  • Number 1. Simulations show how something works in perfect conditions, although some do show airpressure, etc.

    2. Even in a simulation building a robot (virtually) that is so good is incredibly hard.

    3. People have budgets, even the US military and so to create the perfect robot it would take an incredible amount of $.

    4. Life is full of $hitloads of variables, these could be from the millions of blades of grass that it has to average out to create what it see's as the ground to a truck

  • coming at it.

    5. The complexity of making the robot balance when walking is hard, it took us tens of thousands of years to get to this point of natural walking, Asimo which is very advancd has only been around for 20ish years, it's come from being 2 giant letal legs, to a plastic intelligent sensing robot, i know some are pathetic but give 'em 10 to 20 more years and you'll get some impressive robots

CHECK OUT BIGDOG FOR SOME IMPRESSIVE WALKING ACTION

  • Don't forget Asimo for impressive bipedal walking action.

Got to admit, the segway bot with realistic arms was very cool.

  • Yeah ASIMO is pretty awsome, QRIO was pretty good too but Sony cancelled it for some reason.

Also, it looked hilarious when it ran (like a grandpa shuffling but sped up x10.

ASIMO has fallen too once or twice by the way.

    It looked really painful.

  • Well, if asimo didn't fall, we wouldn't learn as much.

  • True, we do learn from our mistakes

  • try it, get back to us

  • A) looks scary alright! well, that's what we humans get for being so prideful about our form: when we see something that approximates it sort-of-but-not-quite, it creeps us out!

    B) Talk about baby steps. SRSLY.

  • that robot is scary

  • sounds like Techno when it walks :b

  • look! its Rudolf! call santa to get him back!!

  • i robot, kill that thing before we all die from war machines

  • Not a poke - it was the deadly 1 inch Japanese finger punch

  • lol, funny when when it was using 1 finger to make him wobble.

  • I Lol'd

  • I just want to know how in the hell do you get funding for this??

    signed,

    Looking for funding ;))

  • When the one robot was poking the other i dont know why but i luaghed so hard. that just looked silly

  • haha. poke poke. not fair, he has no arms.

  • and had a red nose

  • ITS THE TERMINATOR!!!!

  • It looks like a t-1000

  • > Abort, retry, fail?

  • its amazing with what robots can do these days, but i honestly wont be impressed fully until they can make a robot breakdance.

    No affence, they are awesome.

  • Can it walk backwards?

  • Poor retarded Youtuber, learn how to SPELL misery. :P

  • That is awesome!

I never would have guessed that the walking had improved so much over those 2 years I have last seen a walking robot!

The last one I saw like that was huge and it couldn't move as fast and smoothly like this one.

This one has a balancing mechanism as well awesome!

and no Asimo isn't further advanced then this, cos this one has a balance mechanism, something the Honda P's and Asimo don't have!

  • check out the q-rio by Sony. Not only can it walk, it can dance too!!!

  • شكرا على الكليب

  • Omg... The first step towards completing the T-1000, now all we are missing is a proper AI, sufficient enough powersupply, and a good torso ^_^

  • impressive but will it be able to fly a ship like in EVE or starwars? :P not but seriously it would rock tobe apart of these kinds of teams, make huge steps in mankind needing a space no bigger than a basement or garage.

  • they're adapting!

  • Ya..just somethin' like mmm let's say.. "40 years" and it will be "almost" like ASIMO..lol..in the meantime Japan will build the Transformers of 2030..lol

  • see i dont get it, amazing robot and all, but the people making it have to add a little red nose just to creep you out....

  • I actually think AI should be used for evil, just because it would be so cool to see.

  • There will be video games and virtual reality worlds for that in the future. No rational person is going to program AI to be evil in real life, except maybe you lol.

  • Not really, artificial intelligence can be a great thing, we just have to use it very carefully and not let it fall into the wrong hands. I see your point though, I would hate to see the world turned into a seen from "I Robot"

  • that's creepy

  • Does anyone know what type of learning-system this uses?

  • pretty damn impressive... When the other robot picks on him, sounds like: "you think you´re better than ME ??"

  • Very cool robot. More Humanlike than Asimo.

  • But why would we need it? Arent we capable of walking @.@

  • It could help paralyzed people walk (I'm not paralyzed, btw), and it could enable robots to traverse terrain that only nimble legs can.

  • Asimo walks better!

  • AWESOMEO

    Not Asimo

  • the sounds of him walking at the end part make a nice beat

  • Robots are going to take over the world >_>

  • I KNOW!! im thinking abaout it now how will the world be when the robots has gained world domination ? O.o

  • i don't know...

  • oh ok that'l sort some stuff out..
