Im mean look at Kurt Cobain, he didn't neccissarily do slash style guitar solos, but he was expressive, and simple, I think people forget about the simple guitar riff, honestly I've been playing guitar for a While, and I've come to hate shredding, I can do it, but as a songwriter I'd rather expressive then flashy, bu thats my opinion.

I understand what you're saying rcooper95, sometimes it can be really disappointing. But then again sometimes the live performance can just blow away any video. I hate going to a concert where they just try to turn the speakers up as loud as possible so you can't understand any of the lyrics. I'm going to see these guys tonight, so we'll see.
