  • i have the same headunit... and would just like to say firstly the new firmware makes it much quicker..secondly the signal you are receiving from your gps affects the start up time... if you have a strong signal it will load up quicker much quicker than a lower signal and also if you have a lot of songs on a sd card or a usb / ipod it will take longer... but if you have nothing in or just a cd it is much quicker ! just a few hints to people !

  • yeah, it took so long because of the ipod...

a cd / dvd reproducing even mp3 is much faster

  • so 45sec to turn the radio on? or is it taking that long because it's hooked up to your ipod?

I'm considering getting this...do you recommend it at all? thanks

  • This is the OLD firmware. The 2.0 upgrade made the boot up MUCH MUCH faster! I love the unit, highly recommend it.

  • is it true that f900 only supports 2GB of usb device? can use external hdd?

  • no, i have a 4gb hooked up to it right now...

  • "it helps to tap your foot" -- lol! Awesome bro! Thanks for the video -- I think I'm sitll gonna get this for my STI too. Try out the Bluetooth, if you can, and let me know how the handsfree works.

  • Gratz on the CAR - Subie Foz ;-)Have you considered the JVC KW-NX7000 instead? I'm deciding still on which to get the Pioneer or the JVC your input is appreciated. I also heard the 2.0 update for the Pioneer solves the boot-up time.

    Cheers.

  • after firmware 2.0 update it still takes about 38 seconds for iPod to play music.

  • Have you tried the 2.0 firmware yet? Any thoughts?

    I'm considering purchasing this unit!

    Thanks!

  • The 2.0 Firmware has been released and addresses system boot-up time, along with other features. Head to the PioneerMobile channel for all the details and let us know your experiences.

  • Yeah, I'll do that.

  • i have a 120GB HDD hooked with my kenwood DDX-512 with garmin navi.

all songs in folders and sub folders work flawlessly. Does this pioneer model support Hard Disk drive? im not into ipods so before i buy this model i want to know. thanks in advance.

  • are you running the 1.002000 firmware?

  • Hey, it looks like the head unit meshes pretty decently with the STi dash... I'm driving a new 08 WRX hatch, so I was glad to see the unit doesn't look to "slapped in" in the dashboard. Can't wait to get my deck installed, thanks for the video dude!

  • Anyone know if the F700 will be just as fast? I have no intention on using the DVD playback!

  • Should be the same... it's almost the exact same system, just minus the DVD drive.

  • will this fit in a 03 lincoln aviator?

  • have u already installed the firmware update.? or did it come with the new firmware pre installed.??

if u did install the firmware update ureself....did the performance change before/after the installation.??

  • Yeah, I updated it myself. It booted a little quicker, and fixed all of the issues that were bothering me!

  • super cool....I'm going to order my Avic-f90bt today!

  • super! are you in the LA/OC area? how does the MSN Direct work? I have heard that it's spotty in the OC.

  • Yep, I'm in West Covina... I've never really paid attention to the coverage... but it works when I want to use it! Takes about 5 minutes or so after boot-up sometimes, to gather all the info of movies, etc.

  • so is the boot up a deal breaker for you? I am about to buy a avic-f90bt. Or should I get a kenwood? the price on the avic-f are soooo cheap now. I can get one for 871 from a authorized dealer.

  • No... the features far outweigh the annoyance of the boot up. The interface is awesome, the resolution is amazing, and for the price it's a great unit!
