  • Yes farewell indeed

  • kajes5 you dont know shit and in his whole conversation you are the dumb shit! so why dont you get your facts right ! cuase everything was droped. the only people that are not innocent are BILL ALLEN and his SON also the prosecutors. They are the scum that put him and his family through all the bullshit! So FUCK YOU!

  • 907, he was not found innocent, read the decision. Stevens was the cornerstone of bribery and organize graft! Good Riddance!!!!!

  • I think a number of people, including myself, owe Senator Stevens a note of apology for jumping to conclusions regarding his misconduct.

As a liberal I feel that when it is time to right a wrong this is the time to do it and any person worth their salt will provide that apology in a public forum considering he was found not guilty today in a Court of Law.

Then again we still have to find out if the Judge was a Republican....LOL...just kidding.

I still want that bridge money back.

  • He was not found not guilty, looks like you'll be posting another apology to your liberal friends.....The case was thrown out because the Prosecutor's in the case did not disclose a previous conversation and they did not have the correct amount that the construction cost. Sen Stevens has no reasonable explanation for the gifts he received or why he never reported it as is required.

The facts don't lie, people do.

  • Far more than that. The construction cost, for one, is HUGE item to lie about. But Mr. Allen also said that Sen. Stevens would have paid for it all if a bill had been sent, not reported by prosecutors. Mr. Allen also said that the notion that Sen. Stevens didn't want a bill is a lie, not reported by prosecutors. Mr. Persons was also told by Sen. Stevens that he couldn't accept the chair as a gift due to ethics restrictions, so they agreed to make it a loan, not reported by prosecutors.

  • Mr. Persons was also told by Sen. Stevens that he couldn't accept the chair as a gift due to ethics restrictions, so they agreed to make it a loan, not reported by prosecutors.

He "loaned" Sen Stevens the chair for an undetermined amount of time. Right.

Sen Stevens was wronged but Sen Stevens is wrong.

  • That had to be one of the longest and most self serving speeches I've ever heard. I didn't detect a single apology. Since Ted mentioned "God" several times, was he thinking of "God" when he took those bribes? Or when he decided to fuck with Howard Stern and other talk show hosts? How about his interference with satellite radio while getting "campaign contributions" from terrestrial radio companies?

And who are the dumbasses that clapped for him?! Looks like they need to be voted out too!

  • 907ride,

YOU'RE responding (with bad grammar) to something I posted *last year* before the news came out about the case being thrown out due to prosecutorial incompetence. Stevens being found not guilty doesn't mean he's innocent and YOUR "defense of his innocence" proves YOU'RE the idiot. Project much?

How nice of you to say Stevens "can do whatever the fuck he wants." What a shame he didn't think that way when it came to radio talk show hosts or the SiriusXM merger.

  • Greed, Pride, Power! They did do it for humanity, they did it for themselves. Words can be spoken so many time, that doesn't change anything. I don't trust individual words, I watch each individual action. There true motive show within their action.

  • The internet is safe! Cheer people! Cheer with all your hearts!

  • I never really understood this concept. If you are a convicted of a crime you cannot vote so how can you run for office. If I was convicted of a crime I would not be able to get a job that is not fair

  • Yes, the man committed a crime. Yes, he deserves to be punished. But this does not mean that the work he has done for the past 40 years is meaningless. The fact that certain senators have served for many many years do not make them "autocrats". Yes, the man has been exposed as a crook, but he doesn't speak for everyone... he has done much good work that benefits our country.

  • Blah, Blah, Blah.....I hope you "puddle up" every night before you sleep. Another example of an old white powerful male, the dogma of white supremacy permeates thru this man. I'm better than you, I'm more important than you, look at all the chairmanships I sat on, look at my 40 years in this grea hall that I have now disgraced!! Ted Stevens is a HOLE!!

  • hey shit for brains.. you must be enjoying some crow right now you racist bitch

  • Not really you dumb fuck! Get the facts first you fucktard!! He wasn't proven innocent, the prosecutors are as dumb and ignorant as you are so the case was thrown out. If you followed the case at all then you would know he received gifts worth thousands of dollars and never reported it and when he was asked why he said "Duh I didn't think they were gifts, I thought they were loaned to me or they weren't given to me they were given to my wife."

Prosecutorial misconduct does not mean innocence!

  • maybe Alaskans aren't as bat-crazy as I thought they were. I figured they would vote for Stevens since he's such a MFer.

  • Can someone explain to me how someone with a Felony can run for the Senate of the United States, but cannot vote in the election. Does that make any sense? Thank God this crook didn't win!!!!

  • Corruption like that deserves nothing but the deepest condemnation.

  • 40 YEARS?? Dude...he and McCain should've started retirement a LONG time ago...

  • Apparently 40 years in the senate makes you feel invincible and unrepentant.

SHAME on you for running for re-election.

SHAME on you for not apologizing.

No surprise, however -- pretty typical for a Republican not to admit/accept wrong-doing. It's an artform they've honed well -- and their sheep followers seem happy to accept it.

  • He's a Tyrant and a Autocrat who puts the wealth of natural resources centralized into the hands of the very few before all of the citizens as a whole whom he represented. He speaks not of the Great State of Alaska's beauty and bountifulness for all, but for most what it has served himself.

  • I'm looking forward to the impending natural deaths of Ted Kennedy, Arlen Spector and Robert Byrd. :)

  • SERIES OF TUBES.

  • And now he's going DOWN those tubes!

  • All those great accomplishments and he will go down in history as a crook. Greed is more dangerous than any enemy.

  • Piece of worthless SHIT!!! Flushed down the toilet along with that fucked up BITCH Palin and Joe the FUCK plumber--DOWN THE DRAIN BASTARDS!!!! Fllushhhhh~~~where shit goes down the toilet.

  • Fucking fucked up old bastard--I hate the mother fucker. BURN IN HELL BASTARD!!!

  • We need Ron Paul

  • A bridge to nowhere.

  • he's been corrupting alaska's citizens for 40 years. No one saw this at all? come on.

  • good riddance.

  • I think this man is a criminal but lets not forget that he served for 40 years in the senate and deserved the applaud he recieved despite being a felon. Don't get me wrong, I can't stand this man but credit should be given where its due.

  • Yes, and Goebbels was a genius. So what? He was still a monster. We need to remove these entrenched politicians and get regular people into office.

  • I think the fact that he had even been allowed to run in this past election is disgusting. But let's not dismiss what he has done in his career. And let us also not forget that he is no rare breed, that is to say, he has been convicted of charges that almost every one of the men and women in that chamber could be convicted of, only they just haven't been caught. That's my take on it, anyway.

  • we will miss you mr. internet is a series of tubes

  • oh the best part is that Sarah Palin has Proclaimed that Alaska is an example for the other states to follow...She is a Train Wreck and scares me. Back stabbing and not stupid , she knows how to play the game. Sarah go take care of your family and stop pretending your on the peoples side. Our eyes are on you Mrs Palin and you unmarried pregnant example of a daughter too....she chose life , wow maybe , she should of kept your hormones in check or use the pill....Alaska what a joke.

  • so let me get this, Ted has been convicted of Felonies and he is not in Jail and even gets to give a farewell speech. Can we say entitlement issues. If you or I lied under oath we would be marking the walls of a cell with each passing day. What a joke....go him old man and leave Alaskians to deal with Sarah Palin, she will ne next to F*** up .

  • "extreme environmentalists" ? What a fucking asshole. His whole career as been devoted to destroying this magnificent natural jewel and for what? to extract oil that pollutes the whole god damned planet. Fuck off ted stevens. Put him in jail and throw away the key.

  • wow 40 years he was milkin america i see, please close the door behind u

  • nah nah nah nah ... nah nah nah nah... heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy goodbye

  • BORING AND WRONG

  • *****

  • he's taking credit for things that Mike Gravel accomplished for Alaskans.

  • Good riddance to bad rubbage!

  • he says it was an honor and a privilege to serve in this great chamber. so then why did you disgrace that honor and yourself ted stevens. you have nothing to say at this point and should have been barred from speaking senator or no. your a disgrace....

  • If only Strom Thurmond could have left like this...

  • The internet is a series of tubes!

  • Quit clogging up the tubes with this 12 minute video. My staff sent me an internet the other day and it just now arrived!

  • Senator Ted Stevens = just another disgraced politician

  • Do they serve moose chili in prison?

  • Take care, asshole! Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out

  • The biggest toilet in the world flushes the biggest piece of shit ever to stain it.

  • I think that sums it up

  • So good to see this f'n crook go down at last. World won't miss you, Teddy.

Alaska dredges up some real creatures when it comes to politicians. This cretin and Sarah Palin are up/down there with the worst Texas has ever unleashed, i.e Bush2, DeLay, Gramm, Armey, etc..

  • na na na na

  • I am a progressive. I did not vote for Stevens. This speech, surprisingly, stirred mixed emotions in me. I think I finally understand the statement, "He's OUR felon." I truly wish him the best!

  • Nice speech, Senator. Now go get raped in jail, BIATCH.

  • He was a corrupt bastard but I can't help feeling just a tiny bit emotional in moments like these.

  • per capita, the state of alaska has the highest rates of rape and child abuse...along with a awful drug and alcohol prob

    good job stevens...now go away

  • He make the case for term limits.

  • that case was made many many years ago

  • fuck him

  • A SARS infected rat biting him while he whittles his time in his cell would not be enough justice.

  • Criminal bastard. He should be beheaded, along with Bush and Cheney and all the other republican criminals

  • Good riddens to bad rubbish

  • That was so boring, fuck that old bitch.

  • ...and I would like to thank God that I only got caught once.

  • PRISON--it's a series of iron bars

  • Iron Tubes!

  • Ok I am fine with Texans flamboyant patriotism and their "don't mess with Texas." But Alaska doesn't seem patriotic - they keep talking so much only of themselves as if they'd want to secede. And I have heard about a group there with people who want to secede...

  • You will be missed Stevens

    not

  • Does he only have 13 words written on each page??

  • A crook like Stevens, an idiot like Palin. Alaska needs a bailout.

  • Na na na

    Na na na

    Hey Hey

    Goodbye!

  • I would love to hear a farewell speech from other convicted fraudsters before they head to jail. Can I hear a farewell speech from O.J.? Can I hear a farewell speech from Tyrone before he heads to jail for stealing?

  • posterboy of why we need TERM-LIMITS

  • And why Alaska is rapidly becoming a laughing stock.

  • Disgusting. Republicans have no shame. I dont' feel one bit sorry for this old timer. Just because he acts like he's oblivious to his crimes, doesn't mean he didn't commit them. This says so so much about the republicans for them to give him a standing ovation. Disgusting.

  • Hope he rots away the rest of his short life in a prison cell. He is the shining example of what is wrong with our government.

  • This prikes really tick me off. He loses a race and is convicting of 7 counts of corruption but is getting a standing ovation?

    America at its best.

  • they shouldn't have let that fool speak

  • I cant fucking believe some of the comments posted on this vid. WE ARE AMERICANS!!!! ACT WITH SOME DECENCY BEFITTING OUR KIND!!!!, you childlike sons of bitches.

  • Does that also have to include felons like Stevens? We're talking about a guy who violated government contracts just so he could do all the drilling he wanted to Alaska in order to put a little extra cash in his pocket through all of the potential earmarks he would have made. I do support America and her people, yanikv, but even a patriot like myself needs to know when to draw the line between patriotism and blatant fanboyism.

  • Well said Albedo238. Cults of personalities are toxic.

  • yanikv : You are not American if you stand by and shout words like Decency, Mr Ted should learn to live with Decency, he is a greedy self serving ugly person and i hope he gets Jail time but i doubt it will happen.

  • First "ACT WITH SOME DECENCY BEFITTING OUR KIND" and then "you childlike sons of bitches" Wow... A little bit schizophrenic maybe? Maybe a cold shower would help?

  • SIX CHILDREN?!?!?! Your wife is not something you can just dump something on; it is not a dump truck. Your wife is NOT a series of tubes.

  • I lol'd when he said he chaired the ethics committee at one point in his career.

  • So long Asshole

  • Goodbye grumpy old codger corrupt convict dude...

    Come on, 60 Seat Majority!!!

  • yadda, yadda, yadda.... Is he behind bars yet?

  • He will be exonerated on appeal and after 4 years of Barack Obama, we'll be longing for the days of George W. Bush - hopefully we'll do even better than that.

  • Bush borrowed 5 trillion dollars that will have to be paid back as taxes by you and every one of your descendants in perpetuity. He redistributed that wealth to the rich, as corporate welfare, and for war profiteering cronies. I don't think anyone will ever miss Bush.

  • You're delusional.

  • You shouldn't post replies after tweaking. Bush may have undone the entire Republican party, which would be a damn shame, not everything they stood for was tainted. But now that IS the way everyone will view them as corrupt.

Oh well, parties come and parties go. Maybe it's time for a Constitutional party to take their place.

  • My point is that the problems we suffered because of/ during Bush's presidency will be small compared to where we'll be 4 years from now with Obama.

Better to have elected an actual conservative (Bush is NOT a conservative); if only one would actually run...

  • Our problems ARE enormous right now. No one, I repeat NO ONE can lead us out of the morass that we are now in without great pain and suffering.

Bush was only the cherry on top of the hellish cake that has been baking for the last 28 years. Free trade? Hah! Deregulation? Puh Leeeze! These 2 issues have gutted this countries industrial base and without that, we are nothing.

True Conservatives are just as disgusted by what they now see as I am and in that I do have hope, but it is faint.

  • True but our current fiasco has been baking for more than 28 years; try more than 50. And it was deregulation and taxcuts that kept the pain away for so long.

  • Actually it just amplified the problem instead of dealing with the underlying problems. We are so deep in debt now it is undescribable. Banks do things that lead to catastrophic failures that were not legal before dereg, leveraged buyouts and hostile takeovers using leverage are another evil fruit from this poison tree.

Any system uncontrolled becomes inevitably toxic. Too heavy a hand is not good, but no hand at all is insanity distilled.

  • Ahhemm, an education is now necessary.

Some dereg has hurt? Yes, especially the banking deregulation of 1999. However, the biggest contributing factors are Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the Community Reinvestment Act (REGULATION), Medicare/Medicaid (REGULATION), and union-friendly legislation.

Perhaps, not deregulation or over-regulation; perhaps, misregulation...?

  • Ahhh, little depropagandization is called for.

The Comm reinvesatment act has been chugging along quite nicely for decades (carter), the real cause of this crisis is no risk derivatives. Taking on loans that had no chance of being sustainable and then selling the paper off to high risk investors is the problem. Unscrupulous lenders and their agents who cooked the numbers or just flat out falsified them are the core of this crisis.

But talking points are fun, facts are a bitch.

  • OK, no argument there but who were cooking the books? NO ONE has cooked the books as much as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac; the book cooking at Fannie Mae was in those derivatives and was 20 TIMES WORSE THAN ENRON.

Oh, and didn't the Clinton Administration not tell financial institutions that they either start taking those risks or face prosecution.... YES!

There was some wrong-minded deregulation but far more IDIOTIC REGULATION!

  • We Democrats just PWNED the Republicans!!! 58 Senate seats, over 150 Representatives, AND A Democratic President (Who's Black) BOOYAH!!! TAKE IT TO THE HEAD REPUBLICANS AND GO CRY IN THE CORNER!!! THE DEMOCRATS ARE IN POWER!!!!!!!!

  • Fuck you convict!

  • So long, Ted, and don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.

  • If the door hits his ass on the way out and things go as they should, he should have plenty of time to heal after he's in his jailcell.

  • Next up... Norman Coleman.

  • Norman Coleman = Republican Scum

  • farewell criminal!

  • Are you kidding me?...after 7 guilty felony counts, he still has the nerve to go pander for some sort of recognition...that's like OJ wanting a standing ovation because he won the Heisman all those years ago. He should leave hadcuffed and in shame...and so should anyone one who abuses his public office like that.

  • good show old man!

  • Buh bye republican scum
