Yeah, they are natives of parts of Asia (Mongolia, China, Korea) and were imported to Japan long ago by an emperor. They were considered sacred, so they were'nt hunted and became pretty used to people. The wild ones in Asia and where they have imported them for hunting are really sneaky and tough to kill. They don't spook and run like whitetail or muley, they'll hide and use cover.

It's not a white tail deer, jd. They are in Japan, so it's probably a Sika deer which has spots all its life. With a rack like he had, he's well over a year old, probably well into his second.
